Good night!
I am basing on some of the best mastered records I know Sufjan Stevens + Angelo De Augustine - A Beginner’s Mind, for example track Lacrimae. Plus this R. Dawsonm album I sent. But maybe the graininess is due to the fact on Mest vocals are extremely detailed, and Serratus are more “smooth” (therefore maybe some of the details are perceived as missing - does that make sense) - which is not necessarily 100% true as for me however contradicting it may sound - MEST vocals are smooth as velvet for me still.
I did not notice that fact (in fact I loved LOVED the vocals on Serratus as well) before cross-checking with MEST. But to be honest - I am a sucker for details
Note - I have Bell Serratus, not MX500 Serratus, so it is hard to compare apple to apple.
Mod of the year for me…what a year 2022 has been for iems.
Aparently my Penon Serial order is cancelled…good for my wallet…they did not honor the additional coupon they provided earlier aling with black friday sale…anyway turns out to be good.
My modded BL03 is better than my S12 now on musicality reaching out for more of these than attention grabbing S12.
BL03 driver is having amazing capabilities even today along with great timber and tuning.
ahhh thats all but these are worth it since these are prefered than S12 or any others in my collection. thanks.
Don’t have the MESTs anymore so I’ll take your word for it! And yup, they’re detail beasts.
@nymz The Meteor has landed. Great call on the rec. Glad I picked it up on sale. Seems like you know my taste very well. First thought is there’s definitely some special sauce going on here. My brain is going in crazy circles as to what it is. Treble passes my immediate turn off test with flying colors. Which speaking of treble for me, combined with the tuning as a whole, has a very unique pleasant presentation. To early to solidify but, possibly one of my favorite treble displays to date for cymbals and guitars. Overall super impressed with the Meteor and what they were able to accomplish in with such a small shell. Need to get time A/Bing it with the Ultra as these are my only two all BA sets.
I’m been quiet, and I will remaing due to brain jetlag and exhaustion of the last days.
SA6U and Meteor are the 600$ range benchmarks of the year for me. The effortless way that Meteor gives bass texture and treble inside all that warmth are still puzzling my mind everyday. To be continued but until then, I’ll just link you an album

Pay attention to the dummer’s hats and strikes (especially on Speedwalker and Lost My Treble).
Gnight
I know it’s not a BA set but I am curious how it compares to the Kinda Lava for you.
Just did a real quick A/B to confirm what I already thought from my notes. KL barely rides the line off being to aggressive for me in the treble. A large majority of the time it’s not a bother when at lower to mid volume. However, at higher volumes my listening is limited to shorter sessions. KL has more impact in the bass but, Meteor holds its own and it’s not a huge difference to me. Where the biggest difference in bass is with texture. Meteor brings it in spades to a point it took a few for my brain to appreciate it. Almost sounded off and wonky in comparison to my other IEMs.
Unfortunately me comparing the two isn’t the fairest battle. Treble is my quickest turn off to an IEM if it’s aggressive for me or to forward. It’s the first test I perform on any IEM. The KL rides both those lines very close. It’s mainly why I only listen to it a low volume. Still allows all the detail and energy to pull through and not be fatiguing. Where in contrast something like the Mahina or UP I can crank it mid to high all day. Meteor is somehow pulling Magic here. I can listen low or crank it up and either way the treble cuts through the warmth of the bass like a hot knife to butter. Yet still gives me a non aggressive fatigue free listen.
Damn that sounds absolutely beautiful. I can hear every little detail and it doesn’t cut to early. I can clearly hear the tail end of strikes slowly fading. Sorry don’t know all the technical terms drummers use on hits and what type of sticks produce what sound. Check out Rush - Spirit of the Radio on the Meteor. Some good work going on there with what sounds like triangles.
I’m saying it early in ownership but, Meteor is set to become my favorite set. The BA bass is great and about the only time I can tell it’s BA bass is on the lowest of bass mostly with some of the HipHop I like. That’s about the only small gripe I can pull. Everything else is crazy. It’s got a crazy 360 holographic sound, great imaging/separation and staging is fairly wide. It’s giving goosebumps listening to it and giving me the tingles I had on my first few hours on the Tea and EJ07.
Who knew a meteor would come crashing down on my Tea Party. All while possibly dethroning my UP and simultaneously over shadowing the light of Mahina. Between the Maestro Mini, Ultra and Meteor that’s three IEMs in a month set to rattle my top 5 easily. It’s ridiculous what they did with this set.
I feel you man. They sound like nothing I’ve heard and will most likely force me to sell many of my other sets, BUT it does slip out my ears… Getting some rubber covers soon so hopefully that can help with the fit
Ayo can you two stop tempting me PLEASE
Oh no…
When does need ever stop you, though?
Now would be a good time
Well let’s see how this plays out
This is why I stay my ass in the budget game. I’m not built for the dangerous game you play
Seems like the Meteor is a winner - makes me want to try them even more now hearing what you think of them. I’ve always been interested in the Meteor and the other Symphonium IEMs but I just never could justify spending the $$$. At $600, they seem extremely competitive.
More competitive than IE600. I doubt…
Senn is strong in resolution and audio queuing throughout. Not strong in imaging and soundstage. But there is a special magic, you have to be a special kind of person to feel the magic of Sennheiser. It is not for everyone!
Boredom…
