No worries! Thanks for the comparison between the sv023 and the Elegia. I had no idea they were that good. Your comparison makes me curious to try a pair of the sv023s.

I think Iā€™ll end up selling the Clear, get some money and buy the sv023.
It is more comfortable and I think that, in general, it is even more complete. Overall, it is not worth having a very expensive over-ear headset if it is not used much.

The future is in ears, both for sound, comfort, transportationā€¦

I havenā€™t been the biggest fan of the musical direction theyā€™ve been taking recently, but a new Metallica album is always a must listen when it comes out. Iā€™m hoping this one has some energy to it so that when I listen to it I know itā€™s Metallica! :crossed_fingers::metal::sunglasses:

This is only imho - but it does. Put it this way in contrast to Hardwired it grabbed my attention straightaway - at least the 4 tracks they released prior to the full album did. Had a full run through of the album this morning and there are some legit bangers I canā€™t wait to see live :metal: - out of 12 tracks thereā€™s only 1 thatā€™s a bit meh (again imho).

I listened to it earlier today and while there were a couple more meh tracks for me than you, I was also quite happy with the overall album. It actually sounds like a Metallica album which isa very good thing since very few of their more recent releases have given me that feeling. I should note that I still enjoyed some of their recent material even when I found it to sound more generic, but this album is a return to form that I think they badly needed. Out of curiosity, what was the track you thought of as ā€œmeh?ā€ Iā€™m wondering if itā€™s the one I think it is ao I wonā€™t mention mine just yet.

Edit: Iā€™m listening to 72 Seasons again and I think Iā€™m actually liking it more the second time around. Very cool to hear Metallica play like Metallica again.

Edit 2: They still use way too much compression, but thatā€™s a battle for another day. Itā€™s nice to have Metallica as a legit Metal band back. :metal::sunglasses:

I canā€™t tell which is the weakest song on the album, but I can say which song is a masterpiece:

The best band on the planet, even at 60ā€¦ :metal: :boom: :100:

Trujilloā€™s bass playing on Room of Mirrors (the whole album really) is just sick! Itā€™s awesome to hear him really sound like heā€™s playing in his element at this point. Heā€™s a ridiculously talented bassist! :metal::sunglasses:

Lars is still very rhythmic. He may not be the best drummer, but he is the best drummer for Metallica. James has outdone himself in lyrics, sick album and sick riffs! :purple_heart:

I couldnā€™t agree more. Donā€™t get me wrong, Lars is a solid drummer, but his style is perfectly suited for Metallica and vice versa. Lars elevates Metallica and Metallica elevates Lars.

Lars is a very good drummer, but there are better ones in a technical sense. He is simply the best for Metallica. Otherwise, I agree that it takes Metallica to another level.

Thatā€™s exactly what I was saying. :+1:

For example, I am a sick fan of Luke Holland. I can listen to it for 100 hours without getting tired, amazing technique from a very young drummer with huge talent!

TBF, I donā€™t see anything in this video that shows Luke Holland to be a better drummer than Lars Ulrich. He may very well be, but I believe Lars is definitely capable of doing everything shown in this video. Iā€™m saying this as a professional drummer who isnā€™t a big fan of Lars.

In this video, Holland displays stick technique, hand speed, and pedal speed that I would expect most truly competent pro drummers to be able to replicate. Nothing heā€™s doing as far as beats, rhythm, syncopation, trills, fills, techniques, etc are the kind of complicated that would set him apart from most good, talented professional drummers. I havenā€™t watched a bunch of his videos to see if he has material that does set him apart. Iā€™ll just take your word for that. He is clearly a talented dude behind the kit. Thatā€™s for sure! :metal::sunglasses:

Edit: Let me add that much of what the average person looks for and listens for to determine what makes a drummer better than another drummer is flashy and speedy techniques, many of which most professionals will tell you arenā€™t all that difficult to do. Speed and tricks can be learned through repetitive practice by most reasonably talented drummers. Thereā€™s A LOT more to being an elite drumming talent than fast fills and running on a double bass pedal. Iā€™ll stop there before this becomes a rant only other drummers would care about lol! :joy:

It may be so. And Iā€™m not a drummer, I just love rhythmic and technical drums. I play rhythm guitar. I have favorite drummers from some bands: Beyond Creation, Kruhl, Fallujah and some others. :sunglasses:

I am enjoying this ā€œpro drummer being critical of other drummersā€ - shows non/amateur drummers what is actually impressive or sought after - skills wise.

Can we get your take on this?
Would be interested to see how this keeps in the context of a band.

Looking foward to hear what @JAnonymous5150 has to say about this. I will note that many of the sickest drummers/percussionists Iā€™ve witnessed and known, usually had a background in jazz. Their ability to improvise and switch tempo/style on the fly give me goosebumps. Jamming with them was always a blast

For me itā€™s Crown of Barbed Wire thatā€™s bit meh - early days though. I actually thought Inamorata would be the one to outstay its welcome when clocking the track length but I like it.

Speaking as a complete non-drummer I think Lars get bad press a lot of the time. @SoundEater said it already though, heā€™s definitely the best drummer for Metallica .
