1.1mW? lol
Maybe they meant 110mw or something
1.1mW? lol
Maybe they meant 110mw or something
Lol it even reads like that on their own website
Its not as far as I know
the new Sony DAPs have terrible power compared to competitors. Having said that. I am listening to EJ07ms at .19mW on my Qudelix and thats kind of loud. I got to imagine 36mW (and even 1.1mW) would be more than enough to drive the Zero Red. Regardless I wouldnāt buy a new device with such little power.
Something is up, but itās Sony My ZX300 already farts a bit on harder to drive IEMs.
Oh and Zero will take more power than EJ07m for sure.
What wins me over the most is the form factor along with the button placement, easy to manage (perfect for pockets) and not easy to press the wrong button. That and it has a keyword search which I know isnāt anything new but with everything else it has going on itās awesome to me. Iām sure it will do the job with about any iem Iāll throw at it since my A105 seems to run my Kinda Lava just fine though I hope after I donate a kidney and maybe one of my livers (I can live with one) that the A306 will drive the Subtonic Tempest pretty good.
You will have time to grow two or three to replace it. I can already see the queue and it hasnt been announced yet.
Itās funny, I told myself over a year ago āha, these crazy people with their multi-hundred to a kilobuck iems! Iām happy and settled with my Moondrop Starfield and need not look at any other set as I laugh at their goofy asses!ā Then I was like āhmm, the bass doesnāt seem to make my heart beat like my old Skullcandy Smokinā Budsāā¦ then I noticed related videos in my YouTubes talking about these Tea thingsā¦ then I got thoseā¦ then I got a girlfriend who I wanted to give good audio fun and HBB was making some Mele and I also thought I was still lacking bassā¦ so I got them for us and my close family tooā¦ then the Kinda Lavaā¦ then the Kaiā¦ then the Mahinaā¦ then HBBxQKZā¦ then Twilightā¦ and now Iām sure Iāve lost my sanity because the Tempest sounds like where I SHOULD put the FINAL final endgame period at the end of it all.
Iād rather have different IEMs with different FRs and configuration than worry about where the end is. So you enjoy the music more than if you have an IEM for $4000, for example! The end is the journey, because any IEM can tire you, but music never tires you. It is!
And for the amplificationā> KL/07M they need a lot of power to deploy. I doubt these Sony DAPs manage them well!
Maybe someone here can give me a definite yes or no on whether or not a A105 can pull off the running KL decently enough, but they seem to do fine to my ears. I suppose someone can mimic the same power on something to find out?
How loud do u need the volume pot to be?
The rest is subjetive
There are 2 major camps in the audio community on that topic.
One that bases on theory and calculations (skipping the dynamic current supply as something really minor) saying that as long as you provide enough power + >10-15dB of headroom for transients over your normal listening volume you are driving stuff correctly. And coming from that you could basically drive any kind of IEM from any, even low power portable A105 if you calculate the power dempand that from the formula using impedance and sensitivity (with stuff like PR2 being on the edge for that particular Sony at around 110dB)
The second - āempiricalā camp is using their experience and good ears and they claim that you need some extra power above what is calculated for at least some of the IEMs (often called āsource pickyā) for them to really shine. And you would loose dynamic range, stage, bass texture etc if you donāt have this extra power available
So you need to choose your camp. The first one is more cost effective let me tell you this
Took you a while, Rafa! Was getting worried
I got something 2 days ago that instantly reminded me of you.
Haha, I was starting writing a post about the sources several times already in the past few weeks, but discarded them after 5th paragraph of my rants, but now the temptation hit me just right in a moment of weakness
Ahah, welcome back!
Still rocking that m0 pro?
Yup, loving this little boy to this day.
It, q5k and DX3pro+ are my Holy Trinity of sources that fills my needs 100% (while ZX300a brick waits until I repair itās headphone insertion sensor and sell it). To be honest Shanling could fill that role almost by itself, but the comfort of stationary DAC/AMP and amazing app and PEQ of Qudelix is hard to beat.
Between us: every now and then when I listen to my more demanding buds on Topping I think I hear something āextraā, some cleanliness and dynamism that I think I donāt hear with Shanling for example. But every time I do reality check A/B test this feeling is gone like āpuffā
I need to order the balanced cable. Ive put to rest my old and unreliable Q5k and i am now using btr7.
Love ZX300 (and I consider it small, at least compared to my phone), but I have a friend who wants it badly so it will take a no return trip to the other side of the world inside a gift box.
You are rocking BTR7 and no DAP?
What about your M0?
And how on earth Qudelix5k is unreliable to you - it has never let me down - opposite it is surprising me with goodness every day and every firmware release <3
Oh, DAPs always. I have something cool getting shipped next week. But collection had to shrink.
Not Q5k but rather my unit. Battery, connection, etc. I bought it used long ago. I have nothing but love for it, minus the buttons
Units like BTR7, M0 Pro, etc have been handy when walking out my daughter and I want something light that can be thrown around. Last 48h they have been pluggex to Zero Red non-stop without me needing to be extra careful.
During the day, Iām mainly on my desktop rig since Iām basicly a stone planted in front of multiple monitors seeing numbers move up and down. God, I love wfh.
Actually not, Uncapped is still 35mw@16ohm. Most countries got fucked by Sony and it has the volume limit that EU always had with Sony daps.
Even the US. Dont buy thisā¦
(the OI is also 2ohms!)
