So I just played some rounds Valorant…
- friend said, he didn’t notice a difference from what I sounded like (VR3000) compared to how I usually sound (CCA C12)… in the direct comparision I posted, it seemed quite obvious to me though, so my friend may just be deaf or he has terrible headphones (and we haven’t played in a while)
- what really worries me: my friend could hear himself speak. I double checked, that I didn’t have any speakers on… when I record myself while listening to music, I can reproduce the problem… really worrisome…
- after a while my friend complained that I was very quiet
- I could hear the direction of footsteps and everything… like always. The VR3000 was neither better nor worse than the CCA C12 in my opinion. I have to add to that, that I don’t really believe in headphones making a difference, as long as it isn’t total crap or cuts out treble completely. This might relate to the fact, that I don’t really hear a big difference in stage with music either and as @nymz has pointed out, this may be subjective to my personal hearing apparatus
Btw the solution to my questionair is that mic A is the CCA C12 and mic B is the VR3000. I am surprised that 2 out of 7 people voted for the VR3000 to sound better, as to me (personally) it sound clearly worse.
So again:
- Do I recommend the VR3000 for voice communication and therefore team games? No, not at all. It’s not just that it has to be the worst IEM mic I experienced until today (subjective), but it also has a problem, where the output of the IEM get transfered over to the mic. At least with my VR3000 sample.
- Is it good for single player games or with a separate mic? Sure… but everything is imho
- Can you listen to music with it? Yes and it doesn’t even sound bad… just not on a level the MSRP would make you believe.
That being said, I agree with @Morphitsu when he says, it is very comfortable.
EDIT: Full transparency: I just tested the CCA C12 and it had the same problem with playing back sounds to the mic, but far less pronounced… makes me think it may has something to do with my mic setup

TForce Yuan Li - Two words and a rant
I’ll just leave here my final impressions on Yuan Li as I’m not going to do a full review on them.
The Package
TForce Yuan Li is a single DD IEM that kicks in at around 120usd, give it or take, with a strong setup inside a very nice box: A nice 3.5mm cable (mine was faulty, but it’s a nice cable), a good set of tips and an awsome carrying pounch.
I’ve seen multiple times more expensive IEMs coming in worse boxes with worse setups, so credit where it’s due. Touché.
IEM build is very good, full metal, with nice finishings and no sharp spots. Comfort, isolation and fit are also good, but YMMV.
The Sound
I would describe Yuan Li as a bass boosted neutral or warm balanced. There’s a clear focus on the lower frequencies of the spectrum, bring up the warmth level and note weight. It’s a very relaxed, smooth and easy to listen set.
Sub-bass has some texture on it, it’s a bit loose and lacks some detail, but it’s present and doing it’s job. Far from perfect replay of Hyper - FCKD, but I’ve heard much worse.
Mid-bass, on the other hand, is trying to do everyone’s job: it bleeds, it overflows… it takes over. Now this is where the problem really starts. As everyone knows, I’m a mid-range afficionado, specially around vocals for testing. Frank Sinatra - My Way’s replay is messy, muded and blured on this frequency. It lacks separation, a cut-off, it lacks bite. Kick drums and bass guitar on RHCP - Throw Away Your Television have too much empashys and lack detail - they are too smoothen out.
Well, as always, due to the bleed, the rest of the mid-range is history. They feel slight recessed as proven by Glass, where Hania Rania’s piano just lacks some life and detail on the middle frequency notes. Upper mids thin out and Agnes Obel - The Curse just feels lifeless. The elevation on the pinna gain might affect the more sensible ones, but not me personally.
Treble is actually well done. Not the most sparkly but does the job well, without ever being hot. Snarkly Puppy - What About Me? Cymbals strikes and electric guitars come out as well done. I just wish it had more air to fake some separation.
Regarding technicalities, the star of the show is imaging. Yuan Li packs an incredible imaging paired with an average stage. Detail is average to below average on this price range.
The conclusion
As obvious, I’m not keen into it. I had some Xenns UP vibes, but some bad ones. While Xenns offering has the tech and the amount of drivers to keep up with all the warmth it puts out, Yuan Li is trying it all with a single driver, and the results are obvious.
It does nothing obnoxiously bad on my library, but does nothing right as well, which is a shame for the price. Placed at 120 usd, it has steep competition, while having no fight to offer against Etymotic ER2XR or even Hifiman RE600S V2. Hell, I’d pick KZ’s DQ6 over this set, 8 out of 10 times, and that costs around 30 bucks. There’s always options out there like MD Aria or GS Audio GD3A that are being acclaimed for a good reason, and they fit this price bracket.
In my opinion, if you want this type of signature, the choice is very obvious amonst my gear: Buy Tripowin Mele and let it run circles on it for half the price.

Can’t comment on whether the mic is adequate for real-time multiplayer gaming since I don’t game online, but I regularly need to make international calls every day. My experience with the mic is ok for phone calls (phone jack) as I asked the receiver how the sound quality is every time I switch to a different headset. For the VR3000, whether audio only (Android phone) or video conferencing (iPad), the feedback on my voice from the receiving end is said to be clear with no graininess or volume drop 
There’s no need for me to vouch for the mic quality since I’ve only talked about the sound quality for VR3000 
. But just from a troubleshooting perspective, I’m suspecting if it’s the issue with your source chain / mic setup?
The only inconsistent mic / headset I have is the cable with mic that comes with KZ ZEX. I’ve got inconsistent feedback saying sometimes it’s clear and stable while other times they didn’t hear me talking when I did in fact. Audio check done when wifi is stable. Other mics I use for calls that are fine:
- KPH30i
- TRIPOWIN C8 8-Core mmcx cable with mic, paired with Tin T2
- FiiO BTR3K bluetooth

Does anyone else here wipe/clean off their IEMs after each use with a Towel or so like me, or am I the exception?

Not IEMs, not that often, but headphone leather pads every time cos skin is oily af…

I mostly clean them after and before because I don’t want them to grease up or have ear wax stuck to them.

Twice a year I go to the doctor for ear washes and twice a week I clean with:
This allows me to hear things that others do not hear

So clean that he actually hears -5kHZ where it’s actually the IEM that hears his ear canal echos and turns the IEM into an audiophile
