CNY came, but the wait continues
While I agree, I also disagree. Iāll make a (long due) post about TWS and my take on it.
I have a pair of TWS that I bought for ANC and battery life ( sister-in-law was visiting ), only to discover that the sound was pretty good. The EarFun Free Pro (TW301) was a well worth the $60, and I will always keep a pair around even if just for the ANC. They pair with everything, and have a low latency mode.
Is that Oluvās collab?
I should have clarified that this is entirely my own personal preference.
I felt that I was using the TWS a lot because itās convenient but I was sacrificing in SQ. So I decided to not buy a new TWS and āforceā myself to deal with cables so I can better enjoy my music.
I actually donāt listen to my CRN. My daily drivers are O2 and GD3A.
Nope, mine is the stock set, and was purchased well before I knew of Oluv or hifiguides.
I was so new to the hobby, I only had one pair of IEMs at the time ( KZ ZS10 Pro ), and was thinking about getting a BTR5, which is still my goto DAC/Amp.
I think Iām covered for now. But I will put the Echo on my short list for sure if I ever need a TWS.
Hey @nymz , question for you:
I was looking at your ranking and you say that the EJ07 can be considered dark and you call S12 too bright for some. I know itās subjective but in your opinion what would be in between those two
Treble brightness: EJ < ??? < S12
Thanks
Edit: is EJ07M leaning dark too?
@nymz I just saw Michael Bruceās Dark Magician vid. Now Iām SUPER confused which one to buy
Dark Magician or
EJ07 or
EJ07Mā¦ Iāve only tried the EJ07M so far. How does the other two compare to it?
Help
Edit: Iām mainly curious to how the other two compare to the EJ07M in-terms of resolution, 3D/staging, and vocals
With EJ07m every day, every night, from here to the end of the world. EJ07 m is not dark, it is just not bright - it is difficult to explain! It is well balanced everywhere in the FR and has the best musicality I have heard from IEMs. But it will be interesting to hear a comparison between EJ07m and DM (both are $ 600), even though they have different drivers!
Hey @Cameleon30, great question.
What I meant by dark itās that it lacks some elevation in the upper region, making it not have as much sparkles as most offers in the market. Itās still very detailed and insanely good, you wonāt miss a thing.
Something in between the S12 and EJ? Most things. Iād say DM, 07m and RSV.
Are you looking for sparkles?
Not to me, but if you as a treble head, it probably is. EJ07m still feel balanced to me, but leaning slightly to the L-shape. I love it and I miss it. Again, YMMV.
EJ07 is my favourite IEM and a better 07m overall. If you ask me, yes I prefer OG. They are still both on my top. Same iem, different shell and tuning, but that also affects techs.
Same way goes for DM. DM is a different kind of beast. The reason you arent seeing much talk about it is that thereās some honor among the thieves. No one is hyping it to the moon because no one wants another lokahi situation and the expectations fall apart. Itās also the harder rec between the three given that.
If I had to pick one, always the king, but it is meant to be played louder and to party up. The safer route is 07m. All of three are desert island IEMs, together with Teas and RSV.
EJ og beats other two in this department, but I dont have 07m with me to A/B vs DM, as itās still in china.
If I had to give you an analogy:
- EJ07 is like being in the milky way and stuff come from the infinity all the time;
- EJ07m is like being in the middle of a coloseum;
- DM is like being in a spacious club, but walls are speakers.
I usually listen pretty loud so Iām leaning more towards the OG at the moment, and the sound staging of course. If the OG has the same resolution as the other two then Iāll probably pull the trigger.
And also the Tea 2. RIP my wallet
Many people say that 07m has a better resolution than 07 OG?
Interesting
On another note, I might as well just go full custom while Iām at it hahaha. Does the custom OG sound different from their universal one?
They are borderline the same. Id give the edge to OG, but everyone saying the thereās major differences, is scamming you. Same drivers, different tuning and shell.
Unless people measuring for fake treble details due to elevation, then yes.
Most detailed set I own, and I mean pure detail, is DM. Same goes for bass texture.
I donāt do customs as some bad experiences can happen, but you can go for it if you trust the company that takes your ear impressions. Only guy i know with a custom EJ OG is @hawaiibadboy so you can ask him!
He has his ear molds scans from his UM Mest
I feel like Iām somehow gonna end up buying both the OG and DM ahahaha
This hobby is dangerous
