Yes i am not a fan of foam tips either. But Hybrid ones I dont mind using. There are a few other hybrid ones besides that one I mentioned above (EP-TC50 comes with the XBA-N3), like the sony ep-ni1000m (stock Sony WF-1000XM4 tips), Sony EP-NI1010 (stock Sony WF-1000XM5 tips), Queen Lab Hybrid Silicone Memory, SPEAR Labs nFORM XTR SERIES 500 and the Symbio lineup (https://hifigo.com/products/symbio-w-wn-wa-w-peel-memory-foam-silicone-eartips)
I think a lot of people have gotten them already. Howâd it sound? Is it worth it? Or is it better to save up a bit and get something else? For example xenns up or fatfreq scarlet, of course second hand
Currently on Case 4
Iâm a sucker for a way to easy index
Each compartment fits 3-4 pairs / SML complete set
I personally think theyâre a good safe pickup for my ears but that safety comes with a lacking wow factor. So theyâre great for peeps dipping their toes but if you already got your eyes on certain things, it wouldnât be the worst thing to skip em and come back to em later when you got dosh to burn
I enjoy Variationâs Sub bass and cleanliness sparkle, the gooey warmth of the Xenns Up that feels like a chaotic blanket sometimes but the Pula feels like one of those sets to me thatâs great for when I canât decide and I want something I can throw a lot of stuff into and not find much complaint. The TE:Reds were doing that role for a while but the better resolution on these really are much more my speed I will admit missing the bass on those beasts tho. Do note I havenât jumped much genres in a lil while.
Iâd personally save up for those sets if you can, Iâm enjoying the Pula for the throwaway set purpose I need em for when I wanna quick run out of the house and do something, that spot was almost a Performer 5 but some guy beat me to the listing that was $125 and I spent the day crying
In summary, if youâre not hurting for money? theyâre good fun as a safe set that I really enjoy, but if youâre playing the hobby smart unlike me, youâre not missing out on the worst thing if you just say maybe later.
That sounds really interesting to me honestly, Iâll give em a look. I gotta give em a look since I recently gave a random set of foams a go, hate the feel but absolutely love the comfort of em.
Yeah I was planning to grab one of those soon lol since my desk is just a mess of different eartips from everywhere and I wanna keep em organized when I tip roll now
Edit: These are pricier than Iâm used to and now I gotta play em smart instead of buying 80 sets lol
Very well said I think you described them Perfectly this way. Not a $1000 killer , not perfect in airy details and super EST like sparkle but as a all-rounder that doesnât disappoint or cost you $400.
Would be great for someone who is diving deeper in thier journey as a stepping stone to IEMâs without a V shape or Harmanish sound.
I was so worried that I wouldnât be able to tell what ESTs even added to an IEM but now I switch between em it just feels like magic, itâs honestly so amazing. Iâm even more surprised that not having ESTs didnât ruin sets for me.
Honestly a good rec from ya and now I fully know what safe for my ears would be, it makes me interested in hearing a Dunu SA6 MK2 after seeing that FR compared to a Pula lol
The Sa6 is also one I should hear.
The tuning looks so similar maybe someone on here has both?
Again, havenât spent much time to compare those, but from the first impression the graph shows the difference correctly. Dunu feels beefier, with more bass and lower mid support. Also from subjective side SA6 mk2 gives more 3D and separation, and has slightly better microcontrast. To what extent is this a placebo caused by the difference in price - Iâm not ready to tell for now (:
P.S. been using stock tips on PULA
On the other hand, impressions with stock tips and cable are useful for those who donât have tons of spare cables and tips to roll and are just looking for what it could be like to just buy an IEM and be done (personal ear canal and fit aside etc).
Fair enough!
Sister lost her Linkbuds S so now she owns the Pula PA02 lol, A/Bing the Pula with my Vari and Xenns before I gave em to her was also eye-opening in a different way since I found em sounding really clear and detailed than I remember and thatâs with the balanced San Cais.
Iâll be signing off until I decide to get another pair of Pulas but I donât like to repeat IEMs much lol
I definitely gotta get the Dunu SA6 MK2 a try at some point if only to hear em, see ya homies on some other cool IEM
To @Lexington99: so you havenât heard it but you think my conditions arenât optimal, is this correct?
Eartips may cause influence to sound signature, but in my experience they never made good out of bad and vice versa (perhaps excluding foam ones). Thereâs no universal recipe and for me stock might be the best, who knows. I canât guess what suits best to other persons preference. Hereâs some measurements with different tips:
âRegular itpsâ - are the ones I use for all measurements, just some stock ones, probably included with JQ 4U Pro.
In my mind tip choice is something individual and poorly predictable. Plus youâll probably do tip rolling anyway because itâs usually a bit cheaper than IEM rolling
The cable and source subject is even worse. Their impact for me personally nine times out of ten is either non or negligibly small. Cases when crossover responds to source non-zero impedance is a different story, but Iâm too lazy to go through all the options. Itâs easier to use a ready-made solution that suits me initially. The maximum Iâm willing to do usually is attach an impedance adapter to stock cable, just for fun).
In this case, with the 30/75 Ohm adapters PULA sounds just a little less harsh to me. So what a cable replacement might offer will be much less noticeable.
Joined the club. Picked up a pre-auditioned set from @DaveB.
He let them go for a truly great price, THANK YOU DAVE!
UK to my door in NY in 6 days.
Listened to 5 songs and put them aside to burn in for a couple of days.
First listen, Noice!
Bests all the sets in my stable, EA500 being top dog, alongside a little known Canpur Joyful 1&1.
Shout Out to Tonmeister @ToneDeafMonk
Please for the love of PEQ, order the bands in frequencyâŠ
I like the Bass and the mids but boy do I dislike the treble timbre itâs just not good. I donât know what my expectations were maybe the comparison with the Oriveti OH700VB made me expect more but itâs just not for me. Destiny THE DRAW OF INDIFFERENCE
Wow, thatâs interesting. Youâre the first person that Iâve seen with that opinion, but timbre is something Iâm incredibly picky about so I appreciate this impression.
Probably because of the 10K peak - it does affect more energetic tracks, oh and the tamer ear gain some people might not like that, but obviously not gonna match up to the OH700VB, that thing smoooth bruh
@Rikudou_Goku hehe
