Honestly it’s kind of amazing how well USPS still performs considering people have been actively plotting its demise.
It is the best government run anything
I want to apologize to the folks who operate and work for the USPS. I was frustrated and lashing out at what for me, was the easiest target. I had new “toys” that I wanted to play with that day which I was unable to do until the remaining components arrived. There really was no threat of loss of life, limb, or liberty. I was being selfish and only thinking of “me”.
Please accept my apology and my thank you for all that you do - and for putting up with folks like me…
jeff
I dont think there is a need to apologize. This is the rant thread and its good to vent even if its something like this.
Its tough for everyone and i dont think you were vicious in anything.
I hate when it just seems to be one thing after another… Latest bit of shit? I find a metal cover of Africa by Toto, and figured “You know what? The M40x hasn’t gotten to stretch it’s legs in a while. We’ll use those today!”
So I go and plug them in, put them on my noggin, and hit play… Only to find there’s a buzzing? And it’s following when I change amps, 1/4"-3.5mm adapters, tracks(both local and streamed), high/low gain, bass boost on/off… Nothing changes… Until I change headphones…
At this point I’m going “please… don’t make me have to replace these already…”. I start hoping that my HAC cable I ordered for it will come soon, so I can test with that… Only to remember, I still have the stock cable… Somewhere… After some digging, I find it… Only to find the buzzing to be gone. All this shit… Cause the aftermarket cable is fucked.
But…but… that cable was made from the silky mane of a captured unicorn!
Today has been bad for me, I know it can be solved but it is kind of frustrating for something that you have got broken, for no reason at all you, especially when it is a gift from your family. So I was basically doing my thing this week of just chilling with the usual playing of PC games that I own, and yesterday I was playing DOOM Eternal with all joy after getting it cheaper during the sale, with my PC still working yesterday with no issues and there, it is all good. Now today, as I was going to go for an another session of playing my PC, it won’t boot up therefore I immediately did what I can to troubleshoot on what is causing my PC’s problem.
I did the method of removing my RAM sticks and inserting each RAM stick to each DIMM slot, with the GPU intact, it won’t boot up. The next one is that I reseat all of the power cables that is connecting to my GPU, including the 8 pin connectors from my GPU, did it all of that and no boot. Next one is that I pretty much took out the CMOS battery from my mobo in order to do a reset and even with that, no boot PC won’t turn on. Growing frustrated I eventually decided to upgrade my BIOS by using an another video card that was my old one that now being used by my little brother, and my PC was able to turn on, thinking about that a BIOS update might be able to boot up my PC. I did all of that, with the update done, and also with my GPU installed which is an RTX 3080, guess what? no boot!
So this was the last piece by piece diagnosis that I did, I tried using a single 8 pin cable to each 8 pin connector from my GPU, and it turns out my PC turns on when I put the cable on the 1st and 3rd 8 pin connector. But the main scary part is this, a single 8 pin cable to the 2nd 8 pin connector, won’t boot up my PC when it is connected there, therefore I fear for the worst that my GPU in a way got broken, even though I have never done anything or tamper it to begin with to show an outcome such as like that, also I tried all of the spare cables that I have for it, and no luck as well.
I am really saddened by this and it was a gift from my family to show on how much they appreciated me on every minute that I gave him, and now that gift seems to be lost anymore, with all of their efforts for me, gone. For now, all I can do is to use my old RX 580 again for the mean time once it gets here again, and of course, to be fully sure I would have to bring my whole rig to a specialist, just to be sure that my GPU is not only the main issue. It sucks people, when something breaks that you have not done anything to cause such an outcome and I wish you all well to take care of your PCs, regardless of specs, be grateful on what you have right now.
Was it a china cable or something like amazon basics or actually a hifi cable?
I bought the headphone used off the forum back in July. The cable came with it.
For PC parts that new, warranties are usually easy to claim. It may take a month, and that month may stink, but im sure you will be back at it soon.
Ive had it with gpus, which is an inconvenience. Mobos, which are PIAs, and coolers and ram which i didnt bother with.
It seems like the past few days have beat you up a little and its even worse when it claims that hobby that helps us release tension.
I have no grievances today …oh sorry wrong topic
This thanksgiving i worked all day only poking out to grab a plate of food but i could hear disagreements all dsy about cooking. This morning i wake up and something in my stomach isnt happy. Turns out 3 of us are now battling some unsettled stomach issues. I can only imagine everyone kept stepping on each others toes and something may not of been cooked right.
Yeah, I just hope it will only take a month at least and I hope my family who gave me the GPU still has the receipt and the warranty with it so that it can be returned and get replaced. They pretty much ordered it online instead of getting it from a PC store, for that was the time when lockdowns were much stricter and everywhere.
My RX 580 is still a capable card, though I would be missing playing games at Ultra settings at most and I have to admit that I had been spoiled by the RTX 3080’s performance, hell it’s even more harder to get the new cards since the availability of each cards whether it would be Nvidia or AMD is just insanely non-existent and that gift that I got was like a once in a blue moon for me now. I am quite sad and I feel sorry for them to spend so much money to give a GPU that I didn’t even asked for in the first place.
Edit: I miss playing DOOM Eternal, that game might kick my ass while I was playing Ultra-Violence, but sure as do better than most of the game that I have recently saw this year,
RTX 3080 is a big heavy card no matter reference or AIB model. I did not see this listed in your troubleshooting so if you have tried this then please excuse me.
Power down the PC - turn the rocker switch on your PSU off or, pull the plug whatever is easier.
Press the power button on PC like you are going to power it up - This drains any residual power in the components.
Next remove your GPU (after removing PCIe power connections to it)
Then reseat the GPU making sure it is full seated and the retaining tab clicks.
Reconnect PCIe cables - plug the PSU power cord in or, turn the rocker switch back to the run position and try booting the PC.
Often just reseating the GPU in the PCIe slot helps especially with big heavy cards. Sometimes the pins are not making a good contact in the slot.
Worth a shot anyway. Good luck my friend!
Unfortunately, when my PC was no longer turning on earlier, I have tried all of that processes earlier but to no avail, it’s not working and it does not boot up my PC. Though, it wouldn’t hurt to try it again just in case and maybe this time I should do some cleaning on the PCIe of my GPU to see if it can resolve that issue, if it doesn’t, well all I can do is to get it check just in case. The good sign in all of this is that at least my main rig still powers on when the GPU is removed or an another GPU is being used, and I find it odd when a single cable being connected to a 2nd 8 pin connector, is the cause of the problem of it not booting up, while that single cable being used on other 8 pin connectors from the GPU, boots up my PC with no issues. Also my whole rig with that usual still worked yesterday and I did not even tampered anything on it.
I love being on hold for over an hour. Haven’t even spoken to an actual person yet.
2 hrs 20 mins and I finally got a human!
What was important enough to justify waiting that long?

I bought that laptop last night for $500 which is pretty good for a Ryzen 4700U. However, I checked the price earlier today and it dropped down to $400. They don’t offer price match during Thanksgiving/Black Friday of course. So I bought another one at $400 and called to cancel the $500 order.
Still sticking to a PC topic, and this time it is not my PC but my little brothers’ PCs that they are using. My god when I saw the interior of their PC cases, it’s a goddamn mess and a lot of fucking errors being done on their build for they didn’t build those, instead someone that I know built them for them and I know him too well that he is not qualified to build PCs right now.
Cables were fucking everywhere on their cases like freaking spaghetti, pretty much removing more optimal airflow in the cases. Also my other little brother has his freaking power supply upside down, meaning the fans are on top of the PSU meaning it can potentially kill his PC like my freaking god, their rigs are reminding of The Verge’s PC build.
As the big brother that knows a lot about PCs (and no I am no self-proclaimed expert who knows everything about PCs for I am still learning and from time to time, still make mistakes.) I had to step up, and decided to fix the freaking issues on their cases. I pretty much did cable management both on their cases, and of course flip the PSU to its right position, aka the usual way of installing a PSU in your case. Afterwards, their PCs are much more PCs than before, for I got bored and had to do something since my GPU is still in a need of a check and I am still waiting for my spare old GPU to be brought here home.
