Rant thread - share your grievances, not just audio

My 2016 mustang has been great. My biggest grievance is they never learned to clean and paint aluminum so it has the same bubbling issue as my 2007 and i have to fight ford tooth and nail over it. Its on all their aluminum pieced cars, some even need work from the factory. And i keep my car METICULOUS and this ruins it and keeps me from shows.

Amazon told me they are going to charge me again for an item I returned, because they (or their marketplace seller) haven’t received it. I returned it… in October. Now I no longer have the proof that I sent it, so I guess I’m down 100€ for no reason. :rage:

Pretty much in our 9th month of lockdown here in the UK, everyone has been told we’re not allowed out for New Years, after we weren’t allowed to visit anyone over Christmas

Are they claiming the return label was never scanned or that it was scanned and lost in transit?

They don’t say anything specific, just that they were expecting to receive the item by Christmas and they didn’t. It would be surprising if it had been lost in transit because I made another return at the same time and they say that refund has been completed.

If they hadn’t pre-emptively executed the refund, I would’ve kept the delivery confirmation (and photos showing the packed item) but it’s been two months and it’s all gone, so it seems like I’m out of luck.

You should have a return label for it in your orders tab. You have to go to the item and go a few tabs deep, but with that you should be able to file a claim so they can investigate with that code. It’s an internal return label code so not trackable with whatever local carrier they use for you. It’s a pain but I would file the claim.

Nope, I don’t have access to that page any more, although I do remember getting the label that way in the first place. Thanks for trying to walk me through it though.

Thinking about it, the label must have been scanned because they say the return is “in transit”. In that case, it makes sense that they don’t allow me to print the label again. I’ll give it another week and then contact them.

That’s so odd, those screen shots are from a return I did months ago. Bummer yours do not do that far back for some reason. However since it says it was scanned, at that point it is no longer your responsibility. If they give you a label and it is never scanned and goes past return date then you are responsible.

Nothing possibly hanging out in a downloads folder? Sometimes i forget i clicked and downloaded a document to be pleasantly surprised i did

Nope, I had a look in all the likely places I might’ve kept it. It doesn’t help that I switched laptops and phones in that time. I also looked through my backups, but I had also excluded my downloads folder from backups, rather stupidly. Definitely going to change that.

Cases in my country never got really down, and now they are on the rise again. Nevertheless, people still go about traveling and being in meetings with a lot of people. We’re already at 1000 deaths daily and I think things will only get worse in January. Also no plans of vaccines from the government.
Great time to live in Brazil right now.

I have had ringing in my ear for about 2 weeks now (tinnitus most likely) and had to wait till the new year to make an appt. since my company switched over insurance and nobody could see me till 2021. I have had hearing issues my entire life and have not been to most kind to ears over the years with music and loud machinery. Spent the better part of my college years going to concerts almost every weekend and I have always been a loud listener in my personal space and car. Often I have experienced ringing, but would subside after a few minutes. It is definitely a bummer, as this last year I really started to enjoy experimenting with headphones and gear outside of HT. This has definitely made me step back and evaluate my listening habits and understand I have treated my ears like garbage my whole life. Any audiophile grade hearing aids out there?

Stay healthy, friend.

I’ve probably had tinnitus since birth, so the ringing never really bothered me. However, I wish I can hear up to 20kHz… only ~17kHz as far as I can tell.

Thanks @Not_Daijoubu. I will be having a hearing evaluation as part of the process so we shall see just how well I can hear these days. I have had evaluations over the years (maybe 3 or 4), and middle frequencies are where I tend to have the biggest deficiencies.

The way MS Word automatically selects the CR/LF at the ends of paragraphs continues to produce a mini-rage in me whenever I spend more than 15 minutes in the app.Yes, I’ve tried enabling/disabling the “smart paragraph selection” feature but it makes no difference when shift-selecting with the arrow keys or the end key.

Um… the United States of America might be closing down soon, your hi-fi purchases may be delayed.

checks the news

Ah. Well, I hope my Koss KDE/250 will make it. Kind of amusing I needed to order an American product from a UK seller. :upside_down_face:

Should we add a Ham Radio operator thread to HiFiGuides? Just in case…

Quite frankly… I’m kinda siting here waiting for the shit storm to really get going, then see the fallout that follows.

Meh, the revolution ended with a squirt of pepper spray.
