Can I just say no and point everyone towards IEEE essays, Agilent/NationalSemi/Keysight, Texas Instruments or EAGLE?

All of the above are very technical, the EAGLE one being easiest one to understand.

The TL;DR:

  • Differential Signals (= Balanced) works by having a positive and negative signal. As in: +1 and -1. The difference between them is what gives noise immunity (to an extent).

  • That difference is also where the “power gain” of balanced comes from (you can achieve the same power as balanced on single ended, it just shifts the complexity from the audio to the power supply section).

  • Single Ended can be made to be quite immune to so called “common mode noise”, a lot of better Op-Amps can reject >50dB common mode noise

  • When your device causes ground loops, the PSU designer failed (and the device is likely not fully CE, FCC, etc. compliant. Something about EMI limits…)

  • Differential Signals are Differential Signal! There are no different types of it!

  • You SHOULD worry about what is going on in your device, else you may end up with a Chinese Automatic House Ignitor

  • “Balanced Headphones” are not balanced in the technical sense. Having separate Hot and Colds just makes the internals easier when your signal is not referenced to ground. Honestly, does this matter to anyone really?

  • Again: YOU CAN HAVE THE SAME POWER SINGLE ENDED AS YOU CAN BALANCED!

But power supplies are difficult, apparently…

Ohms Law is stupid simple: Power (in Watts) is equal to Voltage V times Current (in Ampere).
Voltage is equal to Current divided by Resistance (in Ohm).

In AC, it gets a bit dicy:

Apparently ifi now requires a serial number to download drivers. I must say, that’s rather obnoxious. My S/N is not legible so I tried all 1’s. If that didn’t work, I would’ve had to contact customer support just to get nonoptional drivers.

Just an incident happened earlier and it’s all about recommending headphones to someone. I said to the guy that he should get the CoolerMaster MH751s if he’s looking for a very good gaming headset for the price, and there is this other dude telling the guy I am helping he should get the Astro A40s nuff said what he basically said.

I just straight out told him that it is shit, and I feel as he was replying to me, he is just trying to justfy his purchase of it since I told him that his Astros are shit and the sounds my Koss KSC75s are better than those. And what pisses me off is this common thinking about sounds are better when it is more expensive when that is not ALWAYS the case, and I was called a liar for just stating my opinion on it, I said to him “Give the Koss KSC75s a try before you call me a liar. If you like your Astros so much, you do you.”

Fucking people like these appearing all of the sudden when I legit trying to help someone to get their best value of spending money and not overspending it on some expensive gar-bitch. Yes, Gar-Bitch.

Tekton lead time is 10-12 weeks currently. I have been without speakers for far too long already!! Not a big deal really, just miss jamming out in my living room. #firstworldproblems

My windows 10 laptop took a whole freaking afternoon (~6 hours) to update to the newest version of it (20h2).

It failed many times to do it on its own and I finally stepped in and use the windows 10 media creation too. Disappointing.

I was willing to do it because my laptop is glitching a little and I thought it might help. Also ended up re-enabling windows defender (antimalware executable)(just to squeeze out the last bit of performance, crappy laptop) which is a freaking hassle because I thought it prevented the auto update to work properly. And it didn’t work (facepalm). Now my group policy editor is gone too after the update (gpedit.msc) and I have to re-enable it.

So much for just a little glitch. I wonder how people survive this. People who have work to do.

Also BTW it’s my first time experiencing this crap. Had Window 7, 8, 8.1 now a few years 10 until today I faced it. It’s literally the same experience upgrading my Windows 8.1 to 10 on my other laptop.

Not switch to Linux cus too much hassle, not so user friendly and too many steps to get games running.

Windows 7 always felt solid and reliable and its why i stuck with it until i upgraded the whole pc this year and was forced to make the move.
Win 10 feels like its a game just out of early access, most important things are patched but little outlying or unimportant things are still floating around. For me the windows ui scale likes to not always apply to everything (start menu) or like alt tabbing out of a game the chrome browser will be frozen until i grab and wiggle the window.

I generally consider myself to have a fairly high tolerance for “It’s just different, not necessarily bad” when it comes to operating systems and applications. On the Windows 10 front, however…

Why do we still not have the ability to save the results of a file search instead of just the search query? The MMC has had the ability to export delimited text files from some of its snap-ins for years so it’s not like the programmatic features to do this don’t exist. The fact that it’s 2021 and this can’t be done for a basic file search is absurd in my book.

My other “get with the times” gripes are on the command line:
A) Make ping behave like pretty much the entire rest of the planet: continuous by default. Maybe show sequence numbers by default as well.
B) Rename tracert to tracroute already. Is 8.3 really a necessity anymore?
C) An OS-native dig command. Another ‘How do we not have this in 2021?’ item.

THIS!
This pisses me off every time!

this pissed me off so many times, that i don’t even feel it pissing me off anymore even though i still make the error every time.
I really start hating Windows 10 more and more as well. I especially still dislike everything about the settings menue - and seeing the control panel die a horrible death. Also working with images a lot, i hate that so many things like the group policies for disabling Windows Update (i can explain…) are still there but just not working anymore. Or something like the registry entries for disabling the S0 state just … change, and you have nearly 0 way to find out about it without having an escalation. Or the random screens thirsting for an MS account. Generally, Windows 10 doesn’t give you any feeling of being in control about its’ state and settings anymore.

Yeah much of the settings app is basically designed for touch screens and makes poor use of screen space. If they ever kill off the control panel, I may start using third party settings apps for things like installed program viewer and what not.

I also use group policy to turn off auto updates. I hadn’t experienced any bugs with it. You may want make a post to the Windows support forum.

Everybody needs to remember that windows 10 was created for the masses ! The masses are actually pretty stupid and should not be using a computer in the first place !! Any fuckin idiot that would use “password” (yeah people do this!) for a password should be robbed then flogged then shot then hung to bleed out !!! (Joking here!!)
It is because of idiots like this that windows is so incredibly dumbed down. These same idiots also do not use antivirus software and just believe that they are safe !! Well that and the fact that it was created by human beings and therefore full of errors to begin with. Win 10 is a little more solid then 7 but still bad. Both are waaaaay better than xp which started out decent but riddled with holes and they created a absolute pig trying to patch it. Or windows 8 which I think was designed for children (the masses) but it was a frickin train wreck as well ! At least windows 10 is mostly free except the targeted adverts which are fuckin irritating as hell !! Dang I feel better now and just want to say that I have 4 upper end pc’s and have never had any problems with any updates as they have always been quick and easy to install as well! Just my 3 cents!

Windows 10 was created for nobody.
It is the Operating System equivalent of a Triple-A game, and by extension “Design by Committee” (= destined to be mediocre at best). Made by hundreds of people who do not care for thousands of people who will buy/use it anyway, for lack of real choice.

It has all the bad UI-choices of Windows 8. Good ideas from Windows Vista and proven to work in Windows 7 were/are thrown out to be replaced by…?

They are being replaced step by step making it obvious where “someone cared” ends and “fuck the user” starts. A seasoned Windows user knows what the wanted settings menu looks like, maybe even knows the name. In case you know the name, the search function may currently even work letting you pull it up somewhat easily.
In case you don’t know by heart, you will SUFFER through ALL the bad design decisions and clunky shit-stack-design that plagued pre-2007 MS-Office. Office 2007 has what MS calls “Ribbon”, which is a menu with the useful functions at your disposal and some other design tricks, talk on the subject here.
Windows 10 throws ALL the lessons learned overboard and lets you sink 7 to 10 clicks before finding something that was once 3 clicks away.

Short side-note on the Search:

  1. The file indexer SUCKS (known issue, stems from how the file system is more of a file pile)

  2. The search by pure chance sometimes has the result right away.

  3. A few minutes later, it no longer does and has to comb through the folder you still have open!

  4. Every now and then, an update during the active hours comes along, restarts the system (preferably during a several hour video render or simulation) and BRICKS THE SEARCH?! (MS has very little inhouse QA, they kicked those people out when Win10 got its first release)

Windows 10 also manages to be not dumb enough for the average user. If it was, it would look a lot like MacOS.
I frequently get asked by less technology-literate friends and family about fixing or changing something because the DEFAULTS SUCK!

Another problem are all the inconsistencies:
Examples:

Highlight color

Active explorer Window gets highlighted:

Start Menu gets nothing (anymore):

Search

Searching and then deleting the search term in the explorer gets you back to the list of recently searched:
image

Search and then deleting in the Start Menu ends you up in a different mode?! (you then have to click the Windows-Key again…)

I could continue this list for days!

Windows Server 2019 is what Windows 10 should have been. A lightweight OS that prompts you do install modules you actually need.

The idiots are those who believe anti-virus will protect them. It can’t!

You don’t take the medicine before you fall sick, you treat the sickness with the medicine, do you?

Sir…I believe Win 10 was created to replace the mistake known as Win 8. I am not saying antivirus does much, but to not run any believing that you are safe is foolish in my IMO. I am also not saying windows 10 is any better just how it was designed that is all. Server 19 is better as you say and I agree wholeheartedly but I do stand by what I wrote. I also agree that it has always been about money and “F the people!” to make said money! My personal belief is Windows has become dumber and dumber through each release. People do not want “technical” they want pretty colors and ease of use… right or wrong? My favorite of the op systems was 7, I hated 8 and wiped it immediately. Xp as I stated started decently but became a pig by SP3 As for Vista I had the business version and it worked surprisingly well despite many problems that people were experiencing. It is a rant thread and perhaps a little overboard but after all what is a rant?

Same actually. My parents upgraded from a Win98 machine to a brand-new at the time WinVista machine. The biggest problems were Nvidia cheating on the 64-bit Driver front (a well documented issue, in court documents).

As great and rewarding learning to do something for yourself can be… Boy can the learning process be painful! Work has been crazy, and days off are a figment of the imagination. Split shifts multiple days a week. Closed last night (got out at 11am), had to be in at 6am and I’m closing tonight. For whatever reason, during the 4 hour break I was given, I decided it would be a bright idea to change my rear shocks. Did I do it? Hell yes! Was it my first time? Yeah. Did it suck? You bet. Took 2 hours on the first one, and I think 45 minutes on the second. Smashed my left thumb twice trying to get the new load adjusting monotubes into place, I’ve got a bruise on my thigh from using it to hold the end of a 2’ breaker bar against the ground while laying on the ground… Came out of it feeling like Pig Pen cause it’s on a gravel parking space in front of the house.

Yeah I gave up on it some time ago. I highly recommend using the ‘Everything’ file indexer. As long you know the name of what you’re looking for, it will pull it up instantly and consistently.

Seriously. Anyone reading this who uses file search should try this program. Not wanting slightly more bloat on your pc is not a good reason to torture yourself

Also allows for regex searching, and you can sometimes look for strings inside supported files too

Just a safe rant, and here it is. I just want to play freaking basketball that’s all! I need it as a form of releasing stress and fun, I know exercise like walking, running and weight-lifting can be fun as well, but I miss playing on the blacktop with my friends and I need practice for I know I am going to be rusty once we are now allowed again to play on the court.

Also I want to test my new freaking shoes that I got my from my uncle! and imo, it’s a wonderful shoe that is ideal for hopping and for casual. Yeah, that’s it.
