300$ tax is not bad for a corvette, over here the yearly tax for cars with engines over 2L jumps like crazy, something with 6-7L is 2000$ a year.

We have our local “rednecks” with Porsche Cayenne’s turbos registered in another country basically running coal because they can’t really afford to own cars like that, but they’re dirt cheap to buy.
Quite a stupid situation, where a tax designed to discourage cars with big engines, is pretty meaningless and only hurts the people that want to be legit and pay taxes in their own country.

If i won the megamillions would walk right past anything with a speed rated tire for a sprinter van to haul more audio. Dont miss buying cars working on cars selling cars at all. Kicked that habit.

Bought my ND miata for $10k OTD at the onset of covid (got a fire sale special)… Changed brakes, rotors, fluids, and new Conti extreme contact sports all in for $1k. Been driving the teets off of it since and really only had to buy some floor mats and a stubby tail.
Maybe the Miata isn’t considered a luxury sports car but the low cost to maintain and insure was part of my equation. I never track it but have done a few auto cross events… My primary driving is spirited canyon carving (think Matt Farah - TST one takes type terrain).

I used to watch the MX-5 series go at Laguna Seca when I was supporting the MotoGP and WSBK and Rolex series ( now IMSA I think, I lost track!) races that would come to this venue and they were an absolute hoot to watch! Probably one of the best and most affordable ways to get into racing. Great little cars.

Mazdas are solid cars. My wife had a Mazda 3 forever and ever up buying a Scion iA because it is basically a Mazda 3 with many of the same parts. I have had bad luck with my cars so went new this time for the warranty. I learned enough about working on cars for a little bit…till I find a cheap toy to play around with.

There’s always the jokes about it’s a hairdresser car, slow car fast, and a momentum car… i can only imagine how much fun a few laps around laguna seca is.
but in such a small nimble car going 50 mph down a 2 lane mountain road feels like I’m going 100 in a normal car. So much fun and I don’t have to worry about losing a license or spending a ton on maintenance.
It will never have the “cool” factor but I really don’t care about that.

There are plenty of games doing this and it really annoys me. If I get a game on Steam I want to play it through Steam, I don’t want to have to cross launch Origin which is a useless application and only gets in the way.

Being much lower to the ground really makes you feel the speed. Going from that to a tall suv and youll need to adjust.
And heck it, i think theyre cool cars.

yep there’s a catch somewhere… Japan housing is crazy expensive in general so the fact that these go vacant when their urban areas are packed to the gill says something. They can’t even give them away to their own then buyer beware for us.
