Do you guys know that feeling that you have prepared a lot of everything in order to get the results that you want, but in the end all of that preparation was for nothing? That happened to me yesterday.
Like fuck man! I slept goddamn early and woke up earlier than my cousin and aunt, just to finally have the opportunity to get vaccinated for free, and the site is very FAR away from our place. It was really difficult to get there, narrow roads, traffic, the usual stuff that you experience while driving on a busy road.
So we finally got there, though it took a while since we almost got lost due to the place not being overly familiar with us, but we do own a property in this place we’re in since my grandma bought a property here. We waited for like 3 hours, 7:40AM in the morning along with the others that cannot wait to get vaccinated. (I cannot recall the exact time but I think that was the closest time we waited)
So after that, we got inside me, my aunt and my cousin with our pens, phones and QR codes, but these people whose tones are a bit let’s say a bit rude to say the least AKA the ones who wre organizing this vaccination program came to us, and like “Sir you really don’t have to be living here in order to get vaccinated, but even though the property that your family owns here for decades are authorized enough for you to get vaccinated, we are not going to get you vaccinated.” meaning they should have said that You just wasted your time because fuck you! I am like what the fuck?! seriosuly what the fuck?! I fucking registered at your goddamn webpage with my full details on it, I already have your fucking QR code, I already received your text that was loud and clear! CLEAR that I am allowed to be vaccinated regardless on what area I lived in! BUT THIS?!! That is some fucking bullshit!
I was fucking pissed yesterday and I was at that verge like for real losing my shit in front of many people who were waiting for us to be finished. We called my dad and my grandman they are as well appaled by the decision of those jackasses! Like I was ready to not give a shit and beat somebody up for goddamn wasting our time, I mean come on! I woke up at 5:30am! and we did all of that for nothing! So yeah, my dad said to me that I should not force it and let it go, instead go to an another vaccination site where we truly live so that bullshit like these won’t happen again.
Sorry for the long rant but long story short: Yesterday was not our fucking day! Hell! a lot of shit things happened after that wasted time of us trying to survive in this goddamn place.
Yeah rude indeed, and that was the perfect time for me to say to my parents that it is ok to be vaccinated since they are one of those people who don’t want to. I just don’t want my parents and my family get infected by this piece of shit human malware that ruined everyone’s lives. I just want to assure them that if I get vaccinated and I am all okay, they can be that as well.
Just trying to keep my loved ones safe that’s all.
People not understanding that some technical concept is not the second coming of Christ.
Example: Blockchain
Simple concept: Take previous hash (= make a smoothie out of data) and combine it with the hash of data you want to ensure is not modified (= make a second smoothie).
Because people give zero fucks about what it actually means?
Why have Hi-Res stickers. Why call something ‘audiophile grade’ or ‘gaming chair’ or…
People absolutely LOVE ‘magic’ that ‘cannot possibly be explained’ and will stay away from explanations they could understand (like the smoothie analogy) just to keep the magic. Do not explain why it is what it is. Just let people trust in the magic of blockchain. Of hi-res. Of audiophile. Of gaming-grade. Of ‘seemless integration’ (apple). Of cheap chinese goods (slavery)…
Because when you explain it and the magic dissapears, there’s nothing more to believe in after their grey day in a grey office
It’s not just technology, people want to believe in a magic “Make Better” button. They do the same thing with self-help stuff like The Secret or Tony Robbins.
Saw a good one. “Depression cases on the rise in the USA, we need better anti-depressants”. Yes. Magic buttons to numb people’s mind rather than a healthy mental living and working environment

Can I add in companies who don’t realize that using a hash with a non changing salt is not quite as bad as plaintext but honestly not much better either.
Actually change that to just companies in 2021 still not understanding that security is not just a good thing to have, but a necessity. Also not something that you can just throw money at one time and be protected in perpetuity.
Well… I had finally got my first legit IT job. It’s only temp, LV1 and work from home, but it’s IT. Had to drive the 60 miles back to the house last night to grab the laptop (Surface Laptop Go, no real complaints) they shipped and bring it back to my hotel so I could get it set up this morning… Only to get called by the Recruiting Manger of the employment agency right after I got that done to do two things…
Tell me that she has a temp to hire position that may be a better fit, and may end up pulling me off the current project if it goes through
Tell me to redo my resume, throwing out my current job. To which I’m left sitting there thinking “well fuck, it’s not like I put a decent amount of time and effort into making that from scratch to begin with.”
Why do people do the things they do? Why do they make promises they have no intention of keeping, and then lie about it when it gets discovered they aren’t doing what they said they were doing? Do they not realize the truth always comes out?
I don’t know how many people here have been interested in this “sequel” to the '80s He-Man, but there’s been quite a bit of drama surrounding it, and with the first 5 episodes releasing this morning, it turns out that the leaks were right and Kevin Smith (the director) was lying about the show. And not just lying about things, but repeatedly dragging a specific You-Tube channel through the mud for having a source tell them what the show’s plot was going to be, and sharing their concerns publicly. But will they ever get an apology? OFC not. Because the people capable of holding him accountable either won’t, or don’t think he did anything wrong. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, having been raised in the south, but what happened to people having integrity and basic decency?
And don’t even get me started on what they keep doing to franchises I loved while growing up.
