THX tech is apparently still in demand. I listed my SP200 on ebay for $225 and it was sold inside 3 hours. Keep that in mind if you decide to move on.

What headphones are you using?

I use Sennheiser 58X Jubilee / Koss KPH30i, Hifiman Sundara is coming in on Friday.

My THX is about to be relegated to back-up or moved to a less used place.

I was thinking of holding on to the THX as well, but not sure what I could do with it.

Iā€™m glad it pairs well with the D50S. I was looking at those recently as an option for my home computer.

Topping D50S is great, but if you donā€™t need Bluetooth or want that type of look, Topping E30 is virtually on par sound-wise based on reviews I have seen, even potentially sounds better at half price.

E30 is more musical sounding with slightly warmer tone, D50S is more analytical sounding by a tad with slightly more detail.

Would you say the RebelAmp would benefit more from an E30 than a Modi? Only single ended, so I get that I donā€™t need anything too crazy. I do use Optical out from my PC.

So I personally much prefer the e30 over the modi, the modi isnā€™t that great from my experience, the e30 is more detailed, cleaner, more refined, and has more features. The modi has issues with a sloppy and peaky sound

Neat, ordered. Thanks a bunch.

I was pretty impressed what the e30 can do for the price, should be nice :+1:

Probably getting a new DAC very soon - E30 or D50s, which would you recommend?

Also ended up getting an Asgard 3 along with the Little dot MK3 as I will be selling my Schiit Stack to a friend of mine since Iā€™m upgrading

I mean for most bang for buck I would say e30 imo, I also like the bit more balanced signature more too

Okay, I appreciate it. Iā€™ll probably get an e30 then since I donā€™t think I would use the bluetooth much anyway. So cheaper + sounds better is a win in my book. Thank you!

I currently use a D70 at my main listening location. I am thinking of something else for another location. How different is the sound signature of the E30 from the D70?

D70 is a bit more analytical leaning than the e30, but I do think the d70 is more impressive technicality wise of course, but you might be surprised with the e30 can do for the price. If the d70 is perhaps leaning on the analytical side, the e30 can almost seem ā€œbalancedā€ or perhaps a slight w shape to the sound, but this can also be tweaked with the filters

Well, with over a week and a bunch of hours on the RebelAmp, Iā€™m a believer. Itā€™s a fantastic amp that makes me keep thinking about it (and the songs I heard) after Iā€™ve turned if off and walked away. I also like that the volume knob gets a little warm because my office is always on the chilly side.

Dang alright Iā€™ll have to potentially pull the trigger this weekendā€¦ Iā€™ve been on the fence on this amp since Zā€™s review and just awaiting some independent sources to validate his opinion. Time to shop for a new DAC as well. Thanks!

Got mine in today. No knob issue like Zā€™s. Gonna echo everyone elseā€™s impressions on it. I donā€™t wanna leave my desk now. I wanna stay right here forever.

Received mine earlier today and have been listening for a few hours. Took some unboxing photos for anyone interested:

Edit - a few things to note:

  • Amp is very well built.
  • Fit and finish is top notch and I couldnā€™t spot any issues with the anodizing.
  • Iā€™m not in love with this shade of green.
  • The knob has incredibly smooth action / rotation.
  • Iā€™m going to hate reaching around the back to find the power switch.
  • Iā€™ve got the amp and dac attached to an Emotiva CMX-2 AC line filter.
  • Source is PC via USB to DAC.
  • I wouldnā€™t use the included RCA interconnects or power cable.
  • I put BDR cones everywhere but I donā€™t think they add anything. Itā€™s snake oil but I like the look.
  • It sounds good.

I donā€™t like how it pairs with my Grados (PS2000e) I think it gets too bright.

I want to take it to the living room with my HP-3ā€™s and put it on a side table with a long ass fiber optic cable running to the TV.

Why wouldnā€™t you use the included RCA? Is it lower quality? Same with the power cable?

The RCA is about as low-cost as it gets. Itā€™s just some chinesium-grade throw-away.

The power cable is EU end with a NA adapter. All low quality.

Itā€™ll get you up and running if you donā€™t have either but I donā€™t recommend using them long term.

My RebelAmp arrived via UPS today. I have some unboxing pictures for anyone who is interested as well as a size comparison to my SMSL SP-200. The amp comes with some generic RCA and power cables which I left in the box after I took the pictures. I am not going to be using them as they feel and look cheapā€¦ but the rest of the package does not! The green color was a good choice and it looks even better in good lighting. As an FYI it cost about $850 Canadian after taxes and exchange rate. So if there are any Canadians interested in this amp expect it to be around that price. Over the next week or so I will be breaking it in and using my Sennheiser Hd6xx and Hifiman Sundara to compare the amp to my SMSL SP-200. All amps will be connected to my Chord Qutest.
