Recommended IEM Cables

Definitely heavy, but I have a 2 core of the C4-1 also but he didn’t get a good picture of it.

Okay, got a super noob question here, but when it comes to cables, what’s the differences between twisted and braided cables? I know that compared to single strand cables they are stronger and be more flexible. Or is it just aesthetic preference?

Also about copper cables oxidizing and getting stiffer over time? I’ve seen a couple posts regarding that and wonder about how that affects the cable’s performance electrically and physically

It really doesn’t matter. Strength and flexibility is more down to the cable itself, and how tight the twisting/braiding is. Smaller cables and looser bunching leads to more flexibility. And for the most part, strength of cables is down to the plugs as they’re the greatest point of failure. You’d be surprised how much force a tiny strand of cable can hold, yet plugs can just rattle free.

Buy quality cables and they won’t oxidize. KZ is kinda infamous for their silver-plated copper cables oxidizing at where the plugs are soldered on because of bad manufacturing and cheap cables. Silver can oxidize as well, it’s just not as apparent. Only pure gold doesn’t.

I think you’re overthinking. Buy a quality cable.

Less overthinking and more just curiosity and being inquisitive. Mainly planning to grab a XINHS 4 core graphene cable in the near future, given everyone on here’s praise of its looks and comfort and I agree with the first bit.

Though gonna take a while since I sent my Oracle in for repair but hopefully I should be delivered to linsoul tomorrow and they can give it a look asap

Pffft, you should’ve seen me a couple weeks ago before I set on the Oracle as my first IEM haha

Just my two cents, the braiding makes a slightly stiffer cable with bends in different directions. Not a huge difference but I prefer the twisted style when possible. There are limitations on which materials can be twisted so it is always more of a hassle to ask him what is possible.

Can anyone tell the difference between these two listings?
They’re all from Xinhs, both 8-core graphene, but for some reason priced different

I’ve noticed it too. I think it’s a mistake.

Even the pics match.

Can anyone explain the difference between pure copper, pure silver, OCC, silver-plated copper, and copper silver mixed?

They look different

So there isn’t much of a difference in terms of material used that would really change anything about the sound, innit?

I am getting the feeling that the “copper” title used on many of those listings are just referring to the color of the cable instead of the metal. Even “OFHC high purity Oxygen-Free copper” is just a label for a certain look.

Different things are used to “advertise different things”

N scale is how many 9s pure the copper is. Like 99.99999 pure and so.

Silver is well silver

Litz is a particular structure for multi strand wire.

And there are many other things that get advertised.

Its all in your mind.

Zero differences besides looks, resistance is more important.

I guess this is the big takeaway then :face_with_monocle:

I believe that the better the purity of the metal, the lower the resistance should be? The resistance is also different for different metals.

I believe gold is one of the best metals for electrical conduction but it obviously is very expensive.

Not really it could be N100 and if it has good or poor resistance then the N means nothing useful. Like I said it is advertising stuff.

Some things like coatings are done for corrosion resistance and I guess that is useful over a long enough time frame.

I havent noticed anything that seems to correlate the resistance with the N value.

Pure gold is also not the strongest material for bending all around either. Some alloys are pretty good though for integrity.

If you hang around forums enough, you’ll find hundreds of battlefields or minefields of arguments over if different cables sound different.

It’s either: Someone says X-cable sound better, and people argue about it. Or someone says that and everyone just doesn’t care to argue against it to avoid the fight. :man_shrugging:

Cables are always a hill people argue on.

My 2cents: Good cable good, bad cable bad. Unless someone shows you specific graphs of bad stock cables, get a cable more for your tastes and comforts. Personally I’m not a fan of thick, heavy IEM cables. 4-core, lightweight and flexible is where my honey is.
