Also waiting for some company to do DD with EST only and do it better then the current choices. Maybe a 2 DD + 2 EST setup.
I’d skip the FD3 Pro. I haven’t heard the Hana because of this…
But if it’s anything like the Oxygen, it a winner.
That’s a no-brainer, day 1 purchase. Because if it sucks, we can remind @hawaiibadboy about it every day.
Its suposed to be pretty identical but cheaper. Hows the oxygen?
(also i find it a beauty, thats why im hoping its good )
The oxygen has a permanent place in my collection and eliminated all other harman-tuned single DD IEMs for me. It’s that good. It’s ridiculously good and considerably better and more detailed than all the Moondrop offerings including the Starfield, Aria, KXXS, Kanas Pro And KXXX.
I owned the Moondrops and felt I had no need for the Oxygen. But @Rikudou_Goku refused to stop recommending it over all the other Moondrops and Fiio FH5s, even though they were all tuned so similarly. As soon as I heard it, I knew it was a night and day difference and all the other IEMs are gone from my collection and the king remains and will remain.
Absolutely killer IEM. I even purchased the specially made balanced TANCHJIM cable for it.
I might grab it after your description. Always wanted to try some harman DD like Aria, might be this one.
Edit: just realized hbb has a video on it too. Seems good. Gonna wait on Mele first, but we’ll see
The memes either way shall be glorious.
Edit
Also I swear super reviews is some how reading my thoughts, almost every time I am interested in something he has just done a video on it… btw the ifi IEMatch+ is as good as his video on it and a very useful piece of kit for any owner of IEMs and powerful AMPs
Exactly, I want a 16mm (LCP or beryllium) DD + X EST + open-back (like EX800ST/1000) = dream iem
Why not both LCP taking care of the powerful sub bass, into a bery mid bass to lower mids, transitioning to dual EST.
Less driver = better coherency.
And IMO LCP and beryllium are on the same level to me. I would want the DD to take care of everything until the upper-treble (10k+) thats where the EST should take over, because DD´s just cant do that area without sacrifice.
I can see that. Honestly until the DQ6 I thought more then 1 DD in an IEM would just cause a mess but somehow KZ brought their A game with that one. I also agree that a DD can very nicely handle the upper mids (the Aria does it beautifully). I was just worried about separation only having 1 DD until the upper treble.
I don’t exactly equate bery to LCP… unless you are talking about quality. They both bring a different feel to the sound.
The Oxygen will change your mind lol.
Yes, I meant the quality. Although I also think LCP has some characterstics of beryllium, mainly the bass texture being very good.
The texture on both are top notch. Bery feels faster, but with less fullness while LCP feels a bit heavier but not quite as nimble.
Honestly either is a wonderful driver tech to have, but they just come across differently.
Yes, both are great and tuning is the nr 1 factor anyway.
There are a few the shouer singer is also one and like 2 others I found, just none of them seemed to be very good. I will look into that one though. Still seems to be a relatively new idea in the IEM space so maybe with time and constant iterations one will come out that I want.
The Shuoer Singer/tape are using a DD+Magnetostat hybrid. Not an EST like the Sonion ones (they are an electret and not a real electrostat either lol).
Ahhh, is the $3,000 shure the only actual electrostatic IEM… needing a step up voltage converter and all.
DAMN, I haven’t given the Oxygen a good listen in quite some time. This IEM could be anyone’s endgame.
Yes, they are (KSE1200/1500).
Let’s see what the hype is about.
@Rikudou_Goku what foams do you recommend? Solid or straight through?
