RikudouGoku's Database (IEMs/Earbuds/Headphones Ranking list)

Taking into account a coupler-induced peak at 8k, these graphs are pretty close to the official FR displayed by GS Audio on AE.
Those people seem really trustworthy.
Who performed the measurements ?

Those graphs are from @gallappago, on his IEC711 coupler.
And yeah, GS Audio official graphs are legit.

Thank you both.
Damn I am half-sold to either ST4 or ST6B they recommended me.

ST6A looks better to me, that roll-off after 5k on the ST6B is probably too much.

I get your point, but as much as I like GD3A details I need them foam-modded to not get treble-fatigued after an hour or so.
I am probably quite treble-sensitive and my tastes not broadly recommendable.

@Rikudou_Goku you hqve a discord server for audio “things”?
Also who is there and can I join?

Depends on what area you are sensitive to. But indeed, the treble is more elevated on the ST6A vs the GD3A BUT, the mid-bass shelf starts earlier and is higher by around 2-3db. That will definitely have an effect on the overall tonality. If its actually warmer or brighter overall, I have no clue, since their graphs are quite different and with different drivers, so hard to compare them.

Everyone can join, here:

Looking at your DQ6 graphs, with and without foam mod, and GD3A graph I think the painful frequency for me is 5 kHz. But on poweramp EQ (1-2-4-8-16 kHz), I don’t like muting 4 kHz, it makes my music sound dull.
I usually like toning down 8 kHz by 1.5 - 2 dB but that’s more flavour preference than relief. And I am not even sure that little annoyance is 8k precisely.

You need to know the Q value of the eq. Its likely that you are affecting a bigger area than you want.

Poweramp has peq in their recent beta version, which I recommend you try over the regular eq.

I will give it a look then. Thanks for your help.

Wow. Seems that I really missed all the drama here the past few days. Been reading in this thread and Chris’s thread as well. Didn’t know they would get so toxic over at headfi.

Not IEM related but I’ve been listening to a lot of Final Fantasy 14 music lately and also playing a lot of it during my free time. Masayoshi Soken might be my new favourite composer in video games. A lot of amazing music in it while I was playing the game.

:person_shrugging: This is a small sample. Everytime i get into the higher end threads, its a shit fest

I don’t think I wanna know what goes on deeper in those threads. Will be avoiding them. Gonna stick to just discuss and share iems and music with you guys!

Problem solved ! :hugs:
-3dB @ 5k and +2,5 dB bass shelf make much more of a difference than I would have had imagined. I enjoy GD3A a lot now.
I always thought that having to EQ a set was a bad sign.
Thanks

It is not necessarily a bad sign. I try to avoid EQ since I source and IEM hop a lot and EQ while doing that is annoying.

Nice. :+1:

I would set the q value in the 5k area close to 3. That way it won’t affect a wide area.
