hahaha, yeah the older KZ are really something with their peaky treble.
The KBear neon got me to sort of trust BAs again… but the FH3 I got next just cemented that if I want the freedom to listen to any track without worry I should just avoid BA treble. I do like the FH3 there are just some songs I can not listen to with it though.
FH3 is known for having BA timbre though. The Neon is quite good for that price with timbre. That might be your issue (based on those 2), so you need to look at iems that have good timbre even if they use BAs. Sony, Audiosense and GS Audio are the brands that have excellent timbre even with their BAs.
It is the light cymbal strikes and other sparkly high pitch events that just cause me to to either have a bad time or physically wince (KZ).
I wasn’t, but the KZ might be the only time an IEM caused physical pain from sound. For me.
Yeah, they sure love having their peaks.
I might come back around to hybrids, eventually. But for now it is just est tribrids and DD sets until I am sasitified with my collection.
EST´s sure are addicting.
There is a smoothing effect they seem to have without giving up too much detail, it is really pleasant to my ears.
Well, EST ftw. Even some DD’s treble suck (looking at you, fd5!). I think i prefer BA to DD treble, tbh
Guess you and I can join in being alpha testers for this then:
It is on the list of IEMs to try.
Wonder when it releases though, tons of stuff is releasing this month.
This is what I have on the way now:
Audiosense DT300
Geek Wold GK10
Vento Conductor T-500 pro
Moondrop Quarks
Tri I3 Pro
Kbear Robin
SIVGA SV021 (got it already)
(Dunu Falcon Pro, will probably be added as well.)
I have the LBBS coming (waiting to see if it arrives before the Mele can be ordered)
FD3 should be here soon amazon finally found my order in their warehouse sometime last night I guess.
Falcon pro will probably be added after some reviewers get a hold of it and post up some juicy FR graphs.
I will probably get a review unit, so dont worry.
I will probably try to measure both sides more often, especially on the Quarks. It seems the channel balancing isnt that good on it…
Not to say that there aren’t great hybrid options and even all BA options that can do treble well, or at least tune it so it isn’t sibilant or painful, there are new alternatives that are simply my preference to BAs doing treble.
The Mangird Tea although, is a great example of a hybrid with BAs doing the treble and it still sounds great. But this is why I say, the Mangird Tea is my main rec up until the $500 point because that’s where tribrids being doing treble with EST drivers, which just sound better to me.
QA for $13 seems to be asking a lot even from Moondrop.
It is almost half the price of their older Spaceship (20 usd) and that one really aint good.
