RikudouGoku's Database (IEMs/Earbuds/Headphones Ranking list)

i am a teasing person and unless I end up not liking these fiio foams in the next few days (could be possible because it doesn’t really feel like much of a comfort or isolation improvement) i’d be going with the comply because again stubborn motherfucker

vinyl record forums have been trying to tell me to not buy certain turntables that critics like that I fight over

NEVERMIND im fucking stupid and it turns out when I actually know what size I find comfortable and THEN testing the different tips from final to fiio i preferred the fiio vocal tips… it gives a nice peak in the mids and highs that I just like more

also you know any good IEMs for someone who likes the ATHM50s… i am asking because i might get some for my brother whos a giant newcomer and im just thinking of which IEM i could get him whether its a blon or a KZ or a tin

SO looking the m50x is similar in treble to crins neutral target, when comparing back and forth you could prob go BL01 or BL03 and have him reduce bass to preference since its pretty close to his target. Id day the 03 is the closer one, but fit may be an issue so new tips and cable and GTG.

the only small issue is that he is using an iphone with the dongle so not really much of an ability to EQ anything… im the only person in my family that has an android phone (which is also basically a DAP anyway but what is a post ipod touch DAP in the modern day without streaming and other media.)

makes it hard since the one with less bass have more or less treble as well. T2 for example is relaxed in treble compared to standard, but has about the same amount of bass over the neutral target the M50x is. Since you know your brother best what is more important to him, dat bass, or something more neutral but weaker treble than what he is used to overall.

EDIT::I got an Idea… get a tin T2 and a sony mh755…2 birds 1 stone… :wink:

money says nah… and he doesn’t have much of a perspective

Honestly I cant give a good rec here. I did actually have the m50x a few years ago, but I sold it and I cant remember how it sounds like.

A cheap but very good iem, would be the Sony MH750/755 as @Mufflertape mentioned.
But the cable is terrible on both.

I have heard good things about those new budet kz´s though. Like the KZ EDX and the CCA CST.

The blon iems arent really a good rec for “regular” people lol. As it is likely they will have problems with fit that can only be solved by getting 3rd party cables (which people outside of this hobby wont do I guess). The 01 also sounds low-rez to me, so it isnt a very impressive iem.

maybe the new kbear lark, that got great feedback from reviews, looks stylish, average cable
sound signature shouldnt offend

I see that one as a generic Chi fi iem.

The edx stands out to me because of that build quality and a replaceable cable at a really low price.

Of course I haven’t heard either of them though.

or tripowin something (tc01 maybe?)
i dont know the name

That one seems to be hyped a lot.

Who knows though, their previous iem. the TP10. Sounds like an abommination, a true horror iem.

Silicone tips are cold? lol OK, do you live at the north pole? You could always try microwaving them or putting them in the oven.

Seriously… If they feel cold for you, try touching them for a second with your finger before putting them in your ear.

oh boy…

Just ordered the Sony EX1000, found a used set on amazon in “good” condition for around 240 usd!

Also ordered the Panasonic RP-HZ47 and the JVC HP-AL202 since I fell in love with earclips due to the Koss KSC75.

So now I got these on the way:

Audiosense T180, DT100
Dunu Zen
Sony EX1000
JVC HP-AL202
NiceHCK EBX21
Panasonic RP-HZ47
Lots of tips

Lets say that they are my birthday presents to myself since I am turning 21 on the 19th march.

Zen vs EX1000?

Guess you could call it the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_2bluVPsb0

Sounds like you’ve got a lot of fun lined up! The Zen is quite nice, although I am having some fit issues with my ears and will probably have to let them go (which sucks because I really like how they sound).

Yeah, indeed I do.

What issues is it with the zen? Size or the shape is bad for you? Does it stab your ears?

The shape; somehow, it contacts and rubs the back of the inner-curve of my ears, and after an hour or so just becomes uncomfortable. I thought that maybe it was just irritation from the edge rubbing a normally-untouched part of my ears, so I used them pretty exclusively for about a week and a half but it never got better. I’ve got pretty small ears overall (I’m 5’4"), but I’ve never had this issue with larger IEMs like the EJ07 or others before. It also struck me a bit weird, as I saw zero mention of this issue in any early reviews/impressions of the Zen, so it may be my actual personal ear shape more than a size thing.
It’s a shame because they sound (and look) absolutely gorgeous to me, but I can’t see myself using them for long stretches when I have other IEMs on hand that cause no discomfort. I hope they fare better for you!

I hope it works better for me then. They look pretty similar in shape/size to the Fiio FD5 so it should work, and I am taller than you if that helps with ear size lol (around 172 cm).
