Was guessing from the graph, I don’t have ZEX
Bass might indeed be too much after the mod.
The DQ6 is wonderful especially for the money. I am not sure I would expect it to beat Oracle though.
Stuff that beats tribids is other tribids that fit your library better
I wonder how DQ6 will defeat Oracle? If he could do it, it would probably cost $ 600 .
I’m not expecting the DQ6 to come even close to the Oracle hahaha
But I can say that its tuning is definitely better for me than my old audiotechnicas which have way too much bass, the DQ6 is more balanced in tuning and more detailed and wider soundstage
I really did not think you did
Dq6 bass and stage punch wayyyy above its price tag. But the other parts fall short. Best budget slammer
They tame that treble, line out the mids, call it pro and sell it for 80 bucks = win.
DQ6 has been launched at the beginning of this year if I remember well ? Maybe we get something next year, maybe at the end of this year ?
It was released late last year. It indeed is very strange for them to not have released the DQ6 pro already lol.
There is a working recipe for them now.
Just take the DQ6 and put the Tanchjim filters on it = DQ6 Pro.
I would also look at the drivers themselves.
It seems to me nobody noticed how good the triple magnetic from CCA NRA is.
Withstanding a tuning with massive mid-bass bleed and presumably stretched across the whole frequency range (from salsald research on HF) it still manages to be noticeably faster than the XUN of DQ6. That is no small feat IMO. It suffices to compare the speed of bass on that same XUN between DQ6 and CCA CSN, the latter with a darker tuning, a bit slower, to appreciate this effort.
So… I am really curious on future whereabouts of that particular DD (not on the ZEX) and on a DQ6 pro with your tuning would be metalhead wet dream.
DQ6 and NRA has equal speed. But tighter on the DQ6 to me.
NRA is not impressive at all to me. But its not a big failure like I expected from their “alpha” product lol.
I read your review and I know we disagree
Well, tighter on DQ6 yes of course.
Speed, the other way around, despite the “bloated tonality” of NRA which is a paradox.
Maybe because I compared DQ6 EQed with NRA not EQed ? I mean I can tolerate KZ 5k peak with NRA’s MST whereas I can’t bear it from DQ6 DDs. EQ or foam mod is an absolute necessity to me on DQ6 so maybe I am degrading something.
Obviously anyone looking for general advice should refer to your reviews and not my impressions.
Still waiting for new stuff with NRA’s DD though.
Get the Tanchjim Oxygen filter and use it on the DQ6. (from the Tanya for example.)
Thanks for your advice.
Actually GD3A fell back into my favor after I managed to get a good seal with Final E tips pushed further with other tips’ stems. This way they have a mini slam I can live with, so I can enjoy the great qualities you mentioned (thanks).
DQ6 are better slammers but are below GD3A in every other aspect IMO, even their very wide soundstage and great detail can be disturbing when I am tired.
Still the best set I have bought for 20-30 € for my tastes. I reverted back from GD3A to DQ6 at first and for a couple of months actually but now they don’t get much of my attention.
DQ6 Pro & GD3C when ?
It already “exists” lol. (tanchjim filter + DQ6.)
No clue. If I were them I would try to release it before 11/11 at the latest.
I like the NRA, the magnostat has an odd tonality, but pairs nicely with chiptunes from the 8 and 16 bit era (along with some handhelds). The bass is surprisingly pleasant despite what the FR graph looks like.
Where did you get the Tanchjiem Filters? I don’t want to buy a tanchjiem IEM just to get a hand on those. Whats the best way to get them in europe?
Aliexpress. You get them with Tanya for 23$ I think. The stock tips are also nice
Or via the Tanya.
