I wouldn’t but many out there prefer it. The Monarch sounds much more detailed to me. The Monarch’s transition from the sub bass/bass into the flat/neutral mids is perfect to me. Also the treble tuning is more to my preference. The Clair is slightly sharper.

I bought the Clair first thinking the same thing. Then I got the Monarch and was like… OMG, if I had skipped the Monarch, I would have been missing out on my preferred IEM and what has become my favorite IEM in my collection.

The shells are just about identical so any variance between them is incredibly minimal. I remembering seeing a photo where the stem angle appeared different but I cant tell if they are different holding both in my hands inspecting them both. They look and feel the same to me. I wish they were smaller.

OMG, I just realized you didn’t mean physical fit. lol

Not a very exciting picture I know, but was excited to share with everyone Rikudou_Goku’s designed cables have arrived!

Thank you @Rikudou_Goku

You’ve heard both the Starlight and the EJ07? I’m very curious how they compare, and would appreciate any comparison, particularly regarding the treble.

LOL, i was beginning to really enjoy this IEM even after the left shell came broken / loose, and now the right driver stopped working almost completely, it delivers like 10% of the sound compared to the left driver.
Tried switching cables but no luck, it really is the driver.

Holy crap this is the complete lack of QC package, i got this from “NiceHCK Audio Store” on aliexpress, i hope i manage to get a refund :frowning:

The right side loss of sound is probably due to a clogged filter, from humidity. You need to let it dry out fully, then hopefully it will return to normal.

clogged filter,
moisture issue, put it on a small box with some silica gel,
or carefully with a hairdryer,
or change the filter,

Geez, so this is how the issue manifests itself?! I thought it only happens when you store the IEMs in a closed box after using.
Thanks for the tip, i will give it a try.

EDIT: wow after like 40 minutes just hanging in my desk it is working again, is there any hack / fix / mod that can prevent this from happening?

EDIT2: Found a mod which involves replacing the mash from one end to the other on the nozzle, not sure if it fixes the issue but it changes the sound signature by a lot. Will have to try something else…

Hiya people, I hope your all fine and dandy?

Need some assistance with cables, I had ordered a bunch from aliexpress that were recommended but 2 of the 3 arrived d.o.a.

Need
1 x mmcx 2.5 balanced
1x 2pin 2.5 balanced
1x mmcx 4.4 balanced
1x 2pin 2.5 balanced with the shroud type for my blon.

Link appreciated.

Still enamoured with my lz a7, enjoying them with red filter and pop!

Unfortunately, I haven’t had my EJ07 for almost a year. I actually got the Starlight to replace them, because I was curious. To my (admittedly fuzzy) memory, there’s not a whole lot of difference between them, tuning-wise. If someone here currently has an EJ07, I may be willing to send them my Starlight so that we can get an actual, accurate side-by-side. I’m going to try to do a comparison between the Starlight and the EST112 at some point (I’m still getting used to the EST112 and traveling a lot, so not a lot of time for a serious comparison at the moment).

Thanks. I was just curious about any treble spikes with the Starlight, like some people have mentioned. I know the treble is quite rolled off on the EJ07.

While I have heard about spikes from others, to my ears it has the same rolloff as the EJ07 did. I have a suspicion that reported “brightness” some are experiencing is a result of resonances from insertion depth or different ears, but there isn’t a dearth of measurements out there online so it’s hard to tell. BGGAR’s graph has a spike, Tri’s official graph shows rolloff and the 1 or two other graphs I’ve seen have the rolloff only. I can say that I’ve owned an IEM that for sure has a massive spike around 8kHz (the Jade Audio EA3), and that was VERY noticeable. I hear no such spike on the Starlight.

@Rikudou_Goku These cables are beastly. These are INSANE for only $30. They sound, look and feel fantastic. My only issue is that I really don’t think 8 cores were necessary. I have too much cable here. lol. Does he make 4 core versions of these?

It reminds me of a very pricy headphone cable I own but yours is nicer/softer.

Yup, Cable A2 costs 23 usd I believe. Not sure if he has them listed, but ask for it.

Although I wonder if a 6 core version is the perfect size?

Then the question is if it will have 1 silver + 2 copper, or 2 silver + 1 copper wire…

Cable A1, A3 or A6 are my default recs (links in my database).

2021-04-15: Mass demotion

Aiderlot M5 rank from A+ to A: BA bass

Audiosense DT100 rank from A to B+: resolution and technicalities lacking.

Audiosense DT200 rank from A to A-: resolution and technicalities lacking.

Blon BL-01 rank from B+ to B: bass quality, resolution and technicalities lacking.

Fiio FH3 rank S to A+: BA timbre present in the mids/treble, resolution and technicalities not S rank level.

Final Audio E3000 rank from A- to B+: bloated bass, resolution and technicalities lacking.

Final Audio E5000 rank from A- to B+: very bloated bass, too little treble and overall is a poor match for my library.

Intime Sora 2 rank from A+ to A: too little bass for me and isn’t very fun because of that.

Ibasso IT00 rank from A- to B+: lacking bass quality, resolution and technicalities.

LZ A6 rank from S to S-: mids not on par with other S rank iems in quality (and also very recessed).

Tanchjim Oxygen rank from S to S-: tonality not suited for my library (bass quantity too little and too bright overall).

Urbanfun ISS014 rank A+ to A: resolution and technicalities lacking.

The main cause of these demotions is because the Dunu EST112 have raised the bar a lot for me and also because the KZ DQ6 is as good as it is.

And also, the IKKO OH10 rank A+.

After spending some more time with the Ikko, do you still think the Dunu EST112 is the best next thing for someone looking for an OH10 substitute / upgrade?

I am REALLY enjoying the LZ A6, but it is for sure not the next OH10 for me.

The OH10 is basshead material, not the EST112. So you will probably feel similar like the A6, an upgrade for sure but not an upgrade for the OH10 specifically.

If you ever get a chance, would you please test if the EST112 responds well to a bass boost EQ? You were spot on when you said the A6 did not respond well.

I have listened to about 10 albums with the A6 and i love it more every time a new song starts, acoustic and live music is so freaking awesome in these, but i am still looking for a OH10 substitute for when i am in a mood for a bassier signature. The problem is that now the A6 has raised the bar, big time, when it comes to highs and soundstage, hahaha
