It’s interesting how they didn’t shy away from talking about the treble stuff of the FD5 on the 3:20 mark in the video. I guess they really took some feedback from FD5 users.

Oh wait yeah I got the lines confused back in the bass there. The bass seems quiet different.

Mids and treble looks kinda similar on the FH3 and FH5S. Bass is definitely lower on the FH5S.

But strong bass might be similar (if they do graph like that).

Fiio’s 3D animation is breathtaking. FH5s has tuning switches???

Fiio is always listening to their customers and innovating faster than most companies out there.

2021-04-26: So I finally got my Sony EX1000 adapter. And my 2.5mm → 6.35mm and a 3.5mm → 6.35mm adapter.

Enables me to use cable B7 instead of the crappy stock cable with the memory hooks.

I also measured the stock cable and it has a resistance of 0.63 ohms.

Graphed it on stock and also with cable B7. (cable (stock and B7) and adapter (3.5mm → 6.35mm and 4.4mm → 6.35mm) are the only factors that got changed.)

Since this is a single DD, even with around 0.3 ohms difference with the cables, it didnt affect the FR. (some slight differences in the treble might be because of the insertion depth/angle.)

I got all version of this adapter now. :joy:

Well built, feels very solid and also got some weight to it. Easy to use since it is quite easy to grip it. Price is a bit pricey for an adapter though. But this (at least my 4.4mm → 6.35mm that I have had for long time now) havent gotten any damage in my extensive use (switching transducers a lot) while all my other adapters (the ones you get in some iems) get disconnected/bad-sound when you move them during use.

Kinera and some other brands should take some notes here lol.

A place like this would be very dangerous to my wallet. There’s one place near me here in Sweden that does have some nice selection of headphones, but not so many IEM’s however. There’s mainly brands like Klipsch, Audeze, Focal and Hifiman.

I’ve been trying to pitch some other brands to them when I’ve visited, but it’s certainly not as easy to get in contact with new retailers when you don’t have any of the big conventions going on now due to covid.

It would be nice to get some more official retailers for brands like FiiO, as I recall there’s only one here and they don’t seem to have any physical store. They’re also lacking the whole catalogue of headphones which has annoyed me to no end as I can’t get models like FH3 or FD5 without importing.

Wow, at least you got Hifiman. Where I am, there isnt a single chi-fi brand…
(HIFI-punkten)

Heck, I actually asked if they were going to get some chi-fi brands into their store a few years ago. And the store clerk literally had no idea what I was talking about and even looked like he was laughing inside…even told me that if its good, they will get it.

I never came back to that store after that.

Noticed that the FH5S has the BA in the nozzle the same way the EST112 got its EST there as well.

This thread is on fire today. I don’t know if I’m a fan of the driver being placed in the nozzle. From BGGAR’s @hawaiibadboy experience and his comments, it a bad idea. He knows WAY more than I do.

Thats usually because they dont tame the BA with dampers. It should be fine as long as they got dampers or dont tune it with too much treble.

I think brands like KZ or TRN are the ones that have given “BA in the nozzle” a bad reputation. Since they dont tame it at all…

Its kinda the principle Sony uses. They tune their iems with more treble that they cut down using foam in the nozzle.

So if Fiio does the same, then they just need to dampen it with dampers and it should be fine. (or use a BA model that doesnt have a lot of treble from the start.)

Ljudshopen has some good stuff. I’ve been able to demo a lot of good headphones and gear over the past couple of years. Never actually took home any Hifiman on loan, I’ve listened to the Sundara and 400i in store though. Didn’t think they held up to Audeze in quality back when I got those however. Also not sure if they’d let me borrow 39K SEK headphones hah.

Going to visit them this week and demo some stuff, maybe get a loaner or two. I’ll try and shill some IEM brands to them while I’m at it.

Also that FH5s looks very interesting. But I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on the FD5, it’s either that or the Blessing 2 Dusk. Or maybe both, I got a double payday so I might go full retard and splurge. It feels like I’ve been doing nothing but reading or watching reviews for the past couple of days and I still can’t decide.

Wait for reviews on the FH5S comparing it to the FD5.

Tanchjim oxygen > Blessing 2

Cant comment on the dusk though.

@Resolution Looks like the FH5S cable is not exactly the FD5 cable.

FD5 152 cores

Although the material seems to be the same.

Yep waiting for the review is the wise thing to do, but damn it is hard to not pull the trigger on these FH5s right now! LOL
This one is #1 on my list, hope it does not disappoint.

Not sure when I get mine as they havent shipped it out yet. But they usually use DHL express for that, so if it gets sent in a day or 2, I hope to get it next week at least.

Pretty close. The FD5 cable is as near perfection I’ve seen in a stock cable. Looks like the FH5s cable will be good as well.

Yeah, that shouldn’t be a point of concern.

Luckily they probably won’t be available here for another two weeks, so I’m forced to wait for the reviews :stuck_out_tongue:. Maybe I can demo the FH5s and the FD5 in a shop. I always figured that wasn’t an option but going by this forum it seems it is.
