well, damn.
They actually have a new planar driver I havent seen before.
I was so close to buying the NX7, but the lack of a DAC kept me from buying it. I was sure Topping would release a DAC version in the near future, so I decided to wait. This doesn’t only have a DAC, but also BT, which makes it more or less perfect for my use case.
But there are two downsides:
I didn’t have any problems with my NX7 so far. I think it’s still the better bang for buck solution if you already have a Bluetooth dongle that you can connect to it. NX7 also has 300mW more power
Is this good or bad? Guess the second if they didn’t purchase some established drivers but made their own.
Graph x-scale looks weird. 1K, 3K, 5K. Gap between 400 and 600 Hz is smaller than it should be… they can’t get it right or they try to hide something with it?
Not an IEM guy but I think a 1W+ device doesn’t make much sense with IEM’s. I was more thinking about current hungry planar headphones or high impedance dynamics / earbuds.
Good as in they might have put in a lot of effort.
Bad cuz…well, its KZ. Their first product using a new tech have always been bad or meh.
Yeah, most iems have a maximum input of 100mw.
You and precog got to test the pla13? First impressions?
No, that is just someone that scrapped the official graph into the squigs.
Oh, never noticed your x scale is different too. I am used to the “crinacle” one where every step the distance gets shorter until it resets at 100, 1k and 10k (logarithmic!?). When I see something like the bigger part between 600 and 800 Hz it looks somehow wrong to me.
oh lol. Precog has the same scale as mine and others too.
Any special reason for the difference? Is there an advantage to the “standard” one that crinacle / headphones .com uses?
Shuoer S12 Pro incoming ?
Not really, its just different ways to visualise the graph. I prefer it like this so thats why I havent changed it.
Jesus, we were warned not to jump too early on the Planar Wars because we hadn’t hit the price-to-performance high. But if that is true and it doesn’t suck, Planar hybrid for $50 is officially stupid
yes, there are a lot of planars coming out.
Moondrop
KZ
Kinera
Dunu
(Huawei if u count TWS)
That I know of.
FYI Huawei Freebuds Pro 2 is out for about a month now and it is getting stellar reviews from those non audio related consumer influencers
yeah, im quite interested in it, but do want to see a graph at least…
I mean… the majority of them are promoters, they literally film a video to promote the product. There’s little to no value in the videos, and more often than not, there is no real opinion shared. But that’s why they are influencers! They built a platform that they are selling/renting to companies.
Yes, I know the deal completely but the set of features seems really great for those TWS. And the response is like 85-90/100, for bad sponsored products (like nothing phone (1)) it is often more in area of 70-75% (normal distribution my ass)
I like that they are trying a new style and not copying anyone, I dig it. Hopefully its a better first attempt at a headphone from an iem company than the most recent one… looking at you thieaudio.
lol probably transmitting everything it hears straight to the Chinese government
