Rumors and new releases thread

u wot m8?
guessing $800ish pocketable dac amp?!?

You know the price? Can you give the source? Thought it might be twitter but didn’t find it there.
They don’t mention bluetooth?..

My price guess is $550. Must be more than the poke 2 with $400 but probably they want to stay under the $600 gryphon.

Just saying it would be better if one could power hungry planar headphones with it too. Almost any Chinese amps have a “linear power output” (32 Ohm ~3,5W, 300 Ohm ~300mW) but many western amps run out of current at lower Impedance and I wonder why.

It is info from Xduoo Facebook page, no further info. I think the price would go up to 700+, three switchable DACs is something uncommon

Hybrid Tube DAC/Amp combo. Xduoo makes some interesting stuff recently.

Edit: just remembered the TA30, TA03 and TA10 exists but still…

On the other hand there is this new topping G5… So maybe 400-450? That is just a prayer I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

Let`s say your planar is 32 Ohms and 90dB/mW, that means at 3.5W you are somewhere in the 130dB range. Which, unless you wear earplugs under your headphones, is absurd.

For open backs I like to apply a 10-15 dB Ifi-like bass boost, so some headroom is already gone.

If we just believe in science then 500mW is enough to push a susvara to 110 dB. And now go and tell a susvara owner that he doesn’t need his speaker amp and can change to some midfi DAP…

Again, not saying 1200 mW is too low, ran a Arya V2 on an qudelix 5k and were satisfied, but just wondering why many not Chinese amps almost behave like a tube amp.

I know the simple answer is “circuit design”…

Alright, just a warning for you guys.

Please dont waste your money on this new source. its a fucking scam…

You are late to the bashing party
But I guess there can’t be enough warnings about this electronic accident.

I never understood this hype for Dethonray in the first place. Their first DAC Amp had poor power for it’s size and was really expensive. And now this…

Yea for concept and hopefully sound. Boo for that pumpkin pie color!!

Some promo pictures just kill the wood texture so it looks like orange plastic but it looks good in others:

Worst case you can easily apply a different finish. Even just some different oil coats would darken it up etc.

This is one of the most interesting IEMs I’ve seen so far.

I was kind of shocked when I saw that huge sub bass shelf on Precog’s squig.link

It makes the Variation’s sub bass shelf weenie hut junior material in comparison.

I’d buy this just for that juicy sub bass shelf and overall good tonal balance, there is nothing like this in the price bracket the MM competes in.

This or the Kinda Lava, very hard deciding what I want next.

TEMPOTEC SERANADE X Feedback:

I won this unit and true to Tempotec word sent it to me no charge inc shipping: I was not asked to submit any feedback this is 100% me.

Ok finally got some time and played with the Serenade X for a bit .

When you finally find the EQ you are playing a song , hit the 3 dots bottom left gets you to a 10 band GEQ set at the norm 31,62,125,250,500,1kh,2,4,8&16khz
East to use.

This is in addition to the global Hiby MSEB settings that lets you adjust to your personal tastes. Look up Hiby MSEB for more info too much to go over here.

As for the player itself sounds very clean, neutral. I have it connected to a Loxji P20 balanced out 4.4 to XLR in.

The manual is useless!

My music comes from a 1TB HDD connected to through USB A port.

I also tried with Hiby R6 Coax and usb c In both work excellent.

BT from Hiby Link uses the HiBy priortary UAT codex and gets you excellent sound quality better than LDAC for about 13ft. LDAC gets you about 40’

Music playback is very much Hiby music app menu’s.

Love the feature of controlling the Serenade X BT wirelessly from my Samsung S22 Ultra.

My short take for now is :
PROS:

  • SQ is excellent clean .
  • Screen is big and bright lots of adjustments and very clear nicely done.
  • Global Hiby MSEB sound adjustments
  • 4.4 Bal Out
  • Usb A , Usb C , Coax, Opt Digital Inputs for digital in and SE RCA covers it all XLR would be nice but 4.4 is fine.

CONS:

  • Sorta needs remote but Hiby Link sorta a fix for playback.
  • Fingerprint Monster I have to use a Custom matte screen saver to help with my OCD for smudges .
  • Don’t even think of touching the Look Up icon placed beside the favorites icon  unless you want to scan your entire library again - it’s not a search function and there is no second prompt.
  • The back button is dark great so makes navigation a bit difficult.
  • 10 GEQ is nice but a PEQ would be golden like on the Quedelix 5K

Hopefully in a future firmware version you get a prompt to rescan your library .
And they add a actual search button.

That’s all for now not sure how to connect to a Network Streamer,I connected to WiFi but won’t show up on my network Onkyo AVR.?

Have not tried streaming from Computer Folder either yet.

Edit: added some rubber feet because the ones underneath are slippery.

Thank You for the feedback.

The EQ works with different inputs? HDD, usb, Bluetooth?

Asking because the topping m50 is a similar device and there the EQ only works while playing from the sd card. Seems like you are mainly using an external drive, so it could be the same limitation.

Ok the MSEB and EQ only work and can be controlled by the X with USB-A in so the player sees the local files. As soon as you plug in Coax, USBC you need to use EQ on that side or in my case MSEB either from Phone or Hiby R6 So anyway with me set up I am good to go.

When you plug in the Coax or USBC it disconnects the local drive and acts like a hub / DAC for your source transport.

Edit #2 it also has RCA SE out so…I plugged in my 12" Bob Carver Sunfire AR12 sub to the preouts and holy shit.
So Loxji P20 powering the Edifier Powered speakers ha ha this it to funny as my desktop system. Time and space cables of course .
