Rumors and new releases thread

did they show the price for the v2?

It was showing 600$ when I shared the amazon link, and it let you preorder (release date 2/21/2023). Now, it is no longer available.

HD 650 claims it’s price is at $500 but it consistently goes on a sales right around $300-$350 range… less if you go third party every now and then, also keep in mind 6xx exists and this goes around $239 which is virtually identical to the 650 just from drop. og 660s and 600 both go lower than $300 at around $220-$270s on sale again less third party from time to time. Asking $600 for the brand new headphone is a bit steep considering just how good 650 is so it would absolutely have to out perform 650 and 600 respectively or people may just write it off since your asking for double and in some cases triple here

Yeah that’s a huge ask, if that is the real price and not a placeholder in 12 months it will for sure not be that price, no way it’s competitive like that. Unless it’s a new driver? But none of the talking points in the listing talk about that so yeah…

probably something like “we used a magical new tuning foam for the driver that makes it 50% better” :joy:

higher impedance is a different version of the same driver usually. And the changes in the graph at least looks like what you get from doing that.

Now now, this isn’t Beyerdynamic

Would be like beyer trying to make products better than their DT 880 which they, I had thought at least, were on the right track till the T1 3rd gen came out with it’s ridiculous levels of bass/warmth lol. I honestly had wanted a better HD 560s so if that’s the attempt here I would be interested but I would need a lot more information about the headphone not just a frequency response graph. I would pay maybe $500 for it if it’s a very good direction/upgrade but I somehow have extreme doubts about this

someone got an early copy thanks to crins discord apparently and did some measurements with 660s2 as 660s. S2 on top vs OG on bottom there.

A tasteful amount of extra bass around 40-80Hz, and a smoother response from 2-6k, with a TOUCH more air.

@GooberBM I heard you like the iem tuning that is popular lately, how about another one?

(new Moondrop iem)

I know it’s a meme at this point, how I feel about this tuning, but these companies are SO lazy, it’s embarrassing now

How so? (Character limit)

This IEM, in a vacuum is fine. Moondrop has a house target they tune to, so most of their IEMs are going to be similarly tuned.

But I can legitimately pull up 10-15 IEMs from $20-200 that have the same style of tuning, where many of the biggest tuning differences come down to the equivalent of channel imbalance issues. There are technical jumps from $20-40 to $100 to $200, but say this IEM is $50: If you already have 1-2+ of 7Hz Zero, Tangzu Wan’er, TinHifi C2 C3 T4+ T2 DLC or T3+, TKZK Ouranous, Moondrop Chu, Aria or KATO, Kiwi Ears Cadenza, Dunu Titan S or KIMA, Fiio JD7, or Tripowin Olina SE, how do you differentiate at this point?

If you’re only comparing 1 or 2 or 3, then we’re still having a conversation on the merits of the IEMs.

When we’re talking about this:

We have lost the entire plot.

EDIT: This is so bad, I forgot to even put the Truthear Hola in on this list of sets.

“Inundated and redundant” comes to mind. Maybe we can go back to faceplate

I’ve tried Final E500, E3000 & E4000 and like @Rikudou_Goku also recommend the E3000 if you want to give them a try.

I know power isn’t everything but idk why they produce such lower amounts Especially in this day and age where so many DAPs are pushing much more for much cheaper

Holy moly, though the 1.1 mW was a typo but it’s for real and even the Jap version only has 230mW o.O
