Rumors and new releases thread

I am just worried about damaging the exposed driver. We shall see if there are any reports of RMAs due to driver damage once they are out in the wild. I guess if there is enough of an improvement over its predecessors people will take the risk. Personally I would still love to demo them at least.

Reminds me of HEDDphones.

I’m perfectly happy with my HEKstealth, so I’ll pass on that ‘unveiled’ mumbojumbo.

This pic of the Susvara unveiled is nightmare fuel.

That Ananda BT however, I’ve been looking for a nice wireless set now that my Px8 has permanently moved to my office.

Vulnerable yep, kinda like Stax but Stax put a raised open guard on their SR-L700 MKII etc like a radiator guard on a motorbike…

I assume they have a removable cover like the sus

Does the JA11 with the Fiio Connect app provide more volume steps on an Android phone than just standard headphone jack?

Assuming you have a phone that still has a 3.5mm? Yes, absolutely. The JA11 is 30mw@32ohm which is around 1vrms. I expect most phones would have 0.5vrms (such as my Sony Xperia 5V), with the only exceptions such as the old dead LG phones with their quad dac that can go up to 2vrms with high impedance transducers, although they also go as low as 0.5vrms without the quad dac activated.

Thanks for your response, however I meant number of clicks between the lowest and highest volume, not how powerful a dac is. On my phone it is just 15 clicks between 0 and 100% volume, in practice it often makes finding comfortable volume level difficult.

UTWS 5 ,for example, provides much more volume levels than just 15 and I wonder if JA11 can give similar functionality in that regard.

Dongles like these tend to not have their own controller so it depends on the host.

Some apps allow you to change the number of volume steps though. Such as Poweramp that can go up to 100.

Finally out!

But man…it looks kinda like a side grade at most compared to the BT20 Pro…this has worse playback time, older BT version and more expensive. Only upgrade seems to be possibly more power from this (21mw@32ohm, the 20 XS/Pro arent stated) and maybe a mic upgrade.
It has APTX but not APTX HD so it is actually not better than SBC-XQ (which all BT device have but you need linux for that and Lineage OS on Android afaik).

Mic upgrade would actually be nice.

I’m curious if the fit is different. I find the BT20 to not work well with semi custom IEMs because the earhooks end up floating above my ears.

Edit: nvm it’s similar

I assume the mic will be better but after looking at it more, this BT30 Pro is honestly quite dissapointing considering it is 3 years older than the OG BT30 BUT IS IDENTICAL in every factor except case battery size, magnetic case, LED on case and a bit cheaper (40 vs 60 usd). That BT chip they are using is 4 years old now…

That price for a Bluetooth DAC with that much power is amazing. The balanced is 220mW ( same as the BTR5 ), but with an PEQ like the Q5K. Fiio’s app is pretty decent these days, and the only one that I didn’t have to side load. I own the BTR5 and it is still the best audio purchase I have ever made, but this is a much better entry price point.

Fiio has been doing some very good gear lately. I have the KA17 and the KA11, and they are both fantastic.

Whaaaa? I might have to check that out.

I have never tried any of the Jade Audio stuff from Fiio. Is their house sound different from the standard Fiio presentation?

This is fairly on the nose. We all have different preferences, but I like the AKM sound enough that even my one Topping DAC is an AKM.

The dongle DAC that caught my eye this week was the SMSL D10. $70 and outputs 500mW, and uses a pair of CS43131 DAC chips. That is a pretty good mW/$ ratio.

I have ordered that myself.

Well, this is dac/amp so no difference. But I dunno about their iems.
