Rumors and new releases thread

I can’t remember where I read about it, but based on that video…I mean, it’s Android 13 looking like 8 or earlier, I’d say that’s at least somewhat stripped down as is, but I’d have to have it myself to say anything for certain. A lot of the core design and shape of the UI in Android has been almost entirely the same since around Android 2 or 3 so it’s all gonna look similar-ish but how bloat free it actually is in practice is usually disappointing and even though I’m not expecting much out of a $150 DAP, just based on the video you linked, I’m actually even more excited that it’s about as cut down as I wanted without going too far and looking like trash.

Dramatic!!!:scream: My whole body was shaking, goosebumps everyhwere…

SoundSlide…nifty USB-C dongle that gives your laptop a physical interface to control your volume.

Cute idea at first sight, but when you think about it, it’s kinda easy to lose if you don’t want a permanently occupied USB port, you always have to worry about where you’ve put it. Maybe they could’ve made it a bit bigger and had the USB pass through and still be available to plug other stuff in parallel to the touch input circuit.

Awesome to see more and more using web app for PEQ access (works on all OS).

Although if you just wanted that, you could just get the Fiio JA11 and pair it up with a separate amp if you wanted to do that at a budget. :joy:

I would love to try JA11 for my work laptop but don’t know if this would work somehow with Zen Dac V2 which only got that weird USB Type B 3.0 input which is also used to power it at the same time

No, Without an analog input you can`t use the JA11 as a “hardware (stored)” EQ. Then You need to switch to the Zen CAN.

Only chance is to use a software like Equalizer APO (PEACE) or Steelseries sonar (graphic interface like the JDS element)

Actually I also Like FxSound which has no real customizable PEQ though but is easier to use if you dont want to make these fine adjustments.

Thanks for the clarification! :smiling_face_with_tear:

Got EQ APO installed but can not use it need to ask someone with admin rights for setting it up

Would be the best probably, so you could keep the Zen DAC.
Other Options:

  • If you don’t need a lot of power use only the Fiio JA11 dongle.
  • (like Riku said) Use the JA11 with any other amp (Zen CAN maybe? Probably too much devices and cables)
  • Replace the Zen DAC with the new Fiio KA15 Dongle. Power-wise it is about the same and it supports the Web EQ too. You would lose the Ifi xBass of course but you could EQ that back.

Web app to have a look at (doesn’t work in firefox)

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I mean I am not standing here with empty hands, i got Hiby R6III, BTR7, BTR15 and Q5K paired with G5 so i have plenty of options to use EQ on the computer… it’s just a mind bug and not a real problem :see_no_evil::smile:

I believe that one is a DAC + AMP? If it does not have line in, it will not work as you need line in to bypass the DAC in that one.

Maybe I’ll reach out to Goldplanar and see if they’ll bite on giving me a set if I do some writeups lol. At 50ohm and 83db/mw, they’re OG HE-6 levels of driving difficulty on paper…my kinda headphones lol
