You might to also look at the CFA Cascades. I was comparing them to my Fostex TH-610’s and it not even close!
Comparatively speaking, they are quite a bit cheaper too.

Shenzhen shipped my Xduoo XD05 Balanced yesterday. It will get from China to the US in 5 days then DHL (50 miles from me) will turn it over to the USPS and I won’t see it for 10 days.

Are cascades close to celestees or zmfs? Arent they big bass cans?

I have never heard the two you mentioned. I just brought up the Cascades as being a really nice closed back.

And yes, they have a strong bass! But I don’t find it bleeds into the mids.

You might find them interesting if you could try them out locally.

Ahhh Gotcha

Oh the joy of delivery companies

Not really a new release or rumor…

but new ROON update coming in one week…and it looks incredible.

ROON might be my favorite audio thing, if I am being honest. The layout, metadata, and ecosystem in mi casa just does it for me. idk. Don’t judge me.

FiiO just released it’s a Neckband adapter, that too under $50.

Bonjour.

My guess is, Celestee in english would be Célestée (say-less-tae) in french. Both… aren’t words, lol. There’s also zero words in french with “ee” in it as far as I know, except anglicisms. So “ee” is pronounced like… beer, weed, freed, seed, etc.

Céleste means “from the sky”. i.e.: “Voûte céleste” is “Celestial vault” in english. “Celestee” is therefore quite poetic. Like, “Sky-ified”. Perfect translation of Célestée would be “Celested”. Actually: Celestified is an old, obsolete word:

Celestify

Celes´tify

v. t. 1. To make like heaven.

Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary, published 1913 by G. & C. Merriam Co.

And now, something a bit less poetic.

…I also like that Focal is a French (france) company, not knowing anything about Quebec french swear words, which is the same as… this spanish swear word. Celestee is pronounced a bit like “C’est l’hostie”…

I’d say that it’s equivalent to saying “fuck” in english.
It’s not that offensive but it’s inappropiate around children.

well…I’m not sure if I misread their name the first time, but I saw ‘Celeste’…but now I see it as Celestee, so they may have changed the spelling to clear up how they want it said.

They did address the name in dome videos and thst is spot on. I aldo think the navy blue plays into the dark sky thing

You can now listen to Sony’s 360 Reality Audio from Tidal, no need for Sony’s proprietary app.

100%, I love my Elex, but…what about the clears…

If only they came in black on black

I checked it out and wasn’t crazy about it, but I can see the appeal for some. I think a lot of people on this forum have headphones that image and present a stage well, but if you don’t I can see this almost recreating that experience. I tried it with a few of my headphones and nothing jumped out at me too much, but I didn’t give it a fair amount of time either.

I haven’t researched it much, but I think it’s probably similar tech to the 3D audio Oculus used for their first Rift headset. The headphones were built into the headband, sat on ear, and were nothing special, but the imaging was amazing for game audio. I think movie and game audio benefit from this tech more than music, but that’s my personal bias. If you can use your shitty phone earbuds with an app to recreate 7.1 audio that actually sounds good, it would be a welcome shakeup to the entry consumer headphone and gaming headphone market
