From the Audeze email:
Schiit Jotunheim-A is a unique current-drive headphone amplifier, which inspired Audeze to develop the LCD-R headphone. The LCD-R impedance is only 2 ohms, and uses our new patented Parallel-Uniforce technology. We refer to the LCD-R driver as a Ribbon instead of Planar due to the extremely low impedance and over 98% trace coverage of the diaphragm surface.
The LCD-R comes with a customized Schiit Jotunheim model A current-drive headphone amp. Specially modified by Schiit, the Jotunheim-A offers the ideal electrical match to bring out the best performance in our extremely low impedance drivers. The LCD-R is engineered to work exclusively with the included Schiit amp and should not be used with any other amplifier.

At this time the buy it now link goes to a dead page
@M0N : I feel like this may get you feeling some ways. Is there any difference here between ribbon and planar? It seems to be a little bit like maybe it depends on what marketing wants to push it as. Since this is extremely limited i doubt ill get my ears on it but the “trickle down” to a mainstream product may be extremely interesting.
Audio companies will do anything except put proper filtering, will they?
New Lotoo IEMs
Also it looks like my initial “spalted wood cups” is wrong. It looks like a technique where they “electrify” the wood and the burn travels up the woods veins burning them making that pattern. Its kind of flippin cool!
What is that? Haha

…Ape Schiit apparently
Have one on the way. No local pickup unfortunately but I was told by the end of the week
Currawong quite liked them
To be honest i would have impulsed bought them but with what theyre stating you need to run them off the jot-A and probably a very very limited number of amps. Theyre also listed as heavier than the 4s, which ok.
I do hope the fancy tech trickles down.
Ill be looking for your thoughts once you get some time on them.
The 30 day return is what got me. I’m kinda scared their FR will be fucked or timbre will be horrid, bjt we will see
I did see the returns thing. I would be scared that im not using all the headphones i already have
I just cleared out just enough in cans to cover this which was a bad move…
Two new headphones from UK’s Hyland Audio…
Intriguing…
I kinda wish they had gone the ifi route and done 4.4 and RCA out. Perhaps charge a touch more and tweak the dac up ever so slightly, but that may be wishful thinking.
I’m guessing it had something to do with the costs involved with including TRS adapters to XLR vs 4.4 to XLR. And once you’re at TRS you’re out of room for balanced and SE on that back panel…
Eh, I guess RCA is a touch bigger then 1/4". Wishful thinking.
