Ready for DIY labeling!
Is this a linkable item by-chance?
Let us know how you like this unit. Iām very interested in something similar. I think they have where you can connect 2 ins and 4 outs.
I just bought these two off of Amazon.ca:
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B073RD939K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RX10A8E252WV91A7AEB7
Very useful and feel well built, but they are just boxes. No power. I like my XLR and am sure I will like SE. Nice rigs for the hoarders in the crowd.
Grazie!
I remember looking at options awhile back and it was Nobsound that seemed the best deals.
These are huge for AB(CD) comparative testing, etcā¦
Might have to delve inā¦
Agreed. I started with them on a 3.5mm 1-in 4-out/4-in 1-out for comparing headphones.
I have one of those units too and they are useful and solid. I prefer the passive nature of it, not having another plug and just redirecting the signal.
Noticed an interesting change today: switched out the SDAC for the BF2 to my DarkVoice + 6XX. I had the volume on the DV left to where I normally keep it and nearly deafened myself lol. Iām not sure the logistics of it but the BF2 is clearly sending a stronger signal or something because I had to lower it way down to stay at the same volume.
The other thing I noticed is that there is indeed and obvious improvement in the sound. Thereās definitely an audible increase in low end, as well as greater instrument separation. Cool stuff.
Hi yāall - thinking about pulling the trigger on a Bifrost 2 soon. This will be my first introduction into the world of multibit DACs. I am curious about multibit DACs in relation to gaming. Most of my time will be spent listening to music and/or videos. Although, I do play the occasional video game from time to time. Can anyone speak to how a Bifrost 2 will respond to gaming audio by chance?
Oh and my set-up will be Window 10PC > Bifrost 2 > Asgard 3 > HD600 (mostly).
PS - For those with a Bifrost 2 and/or an Asgard 3. Do you leave your gear on 24/7?
Thanks!
Iāve been playing Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 with it (spdif optical) and it has been fine so far. I donāt know how it is with competitive games games though, although I think it should do fine especially when compared to the motherboard DAC.
Thank you!
I actually just asked schiit themselves if itās best to leave the Asgard 3 on all the time or only have it on during use. They said āEither way is perfectly fine. You can leave it on 24/7 or turn it off/on as needed. Neither way will affect performance, quality, or lifespan of the Asgard 3.ā
I use my BF2 and A3/RNHP for gaming all the time, it does pretty well with gaming, never experienced any lag or anything like that using them.
As for running them, I have the BF2 on all the time since it needs to warm up to sound its best, and I usually try to turn off the A3 when not in use, but I tend to forget all the time since the switch is on the back of it.
I leave the Bifrost 2 (actually all the R2R DACS I have) on all the time. It benefits R2R DACs to be left on for clock syncing (aka reduced jitter). Some of the DACs I have reach equilibrium with in a few hours, others take a few days. So, I just leave them on. They donāt draw a lot of power so I donāt see any harm in it. To the gear or the environment.
Regarding amplifiers, the A3 when I had it, I turned off after use but as a matter of preference, not need. The Jot 2 I am currently using in my Schiit chain, I leave on unless leaving the house for the weekend etc. It (to me) also benefits from being on and warmed up. I noticed before that it would take like an hour or longer before it started sounding itās best.
The A3 shill doesnāt own it anymore but the Jot2!?
Thanks, all, for the input. Great information!
For me it was about having SE and BAL in a single unit that still stacked nice with the BF2.
Also, happenz
The A3 indicator light is also very subtle (inside and neutral)
Is there any difference in sound quality - even subtle - between the RCA out and the XLR out?
