100% leather yes, also not sure what kind. Ok to update on the new pads. The flue pretty much gone now.
They are a lot stiffer than the original pads, needs a lot more breaking in. Like I mentioned Im the other post the driver crincle is completely gone. I was very sceptical about the sound stage getting bigger, but sure as shit it did. Not crazy but enough to be noticed and enjoyed. Bass is more still tryinh to hear if its still as tight as with the original pads. But all and all very happy with the pads.
Yeah, pretty much my experience with the new pads as well
Itâs not my favorite headphone, but I found the Aivas to be pretty perfect out of the box for what it tries to do. I use it almost every day at work when not using iems, but you guys have me curious about the new pads. I love the stock pads, so I never would have thought about upgrading them
The main reason to get the new pads would be if you had driver crinkle, otherwise I donât think its really need to change them imo
ok then, I likely wonât pick them up. I only experience the crinkle when I literally press them against my head creating air pressure. Otherwise not at all. If it was my only pair of headphones, Iâd probably get the added pads, but they do what I want them to which is mainly so someone doesnât have to stomp their feet or startle me to get my attention at work
I only have the Aivas and for now their my end game, just looking for a proper dac and amp. But almost sure it will be the SMSL SU8 V2 and the SP200. The pads change the sound for the better imho.
What is a driver crinkle ?
The thin membrain between the two magnets move due to change in air pressure. Its makes a crinkle sound when putting them on or taking them off. Or if you push them against your head. But pads solved that for me
^^^^ As Deon saidâŠperforated pads can help with the problem
I hear a lot of people say Tube amps donât play nice with playnars. But the big red amp Z reviewed was fine with the Aivas, how will the Loxjie P20 pair with the aivas? Anyone have this setup by any chance.
Itâs mainly how the higher tier amps are designed that allow them to work well with planars. Most common otl amps are not designed to work well with lower impedance current hungry headphones
I the P20 is a hybrid amp. It would be fine. Good tubes would be an additional expense.
Yup, if itâs a hybrid it should be just fine. Just donât look for an otl with the sendys
Thanx guys, as always I appreciate your input.
The P20 is a hybrid, so it will work fine with planars. I agree with @FBizzle that it needs a tube upgrade. I also think itâs much better when used balanced and it needs an upgraded power cord. 12V 3A cord gives it more life.
Thats interesting that the 12V3a gives it more life, and heard people talk about tube tolling on the P20 yes.
With the stock cord I noticed a loss in timbre and increasing distortion in the mids on my 6XX when the volume went louder than about - 35. Upgrading the cord cleaned that up and itâs clean (for a tube, anyway) sound all the way to uncomfortably loud.
Giving more power to the tubes will have them give more of an impact on the sound, so it would be a decent benefit. For some of my studio equipment, pushing plate voltage can really impact how tubes preform
Wonder if it would work with a less expensive amp as well.
