Spent a couple hours this afternoon revamping the desk (again)…after moving into this new house in May, went w/o desk speakers for awhile. Brought those back, busted out switchers again to make reviewing work easier.
Yes, you see an LCD-R + Jot A. Stay tuned…
That looks Serious!
It looks like I have a problem…
Command center.
Nice, very clean. Is that also a standing desk? If so, gold star for cable management with that much gear!
I’m definitely digging the two balanced Little Bear switches, one for IN and one for OUT. EXCELLENT!
Yes! My sciatic region demanded it a couple years ago.
Oh, it’s spaghetti behind there. I’ve clamped a couple of power strips to the underside of the desk. That left the only tricky part being running the wires from the PC (on the floor to the left) to the sound gear. The SU-2 is as far away as it can be without stretching my Sheyatta Venom USB cable when the desk is raised, for example.
Makes a reviewers life much easier.
It is called a battle station. All ears on deck!
Tracking santa this year.
I have a main desk setup along with some portable gear and my work from home setup.
This is my personal desk:
It’s a motorised desk with a custom built PC.
On it the PC connects via both USB and a SPDIF splitter to a Topping D70 and Denafrips Ares II. The DACs are then sent to an RCA and XLR splitter before going to a Stax SRM-353X, Schitt Valhalla 2, Schitt Jotunheim, THX AAA 789 and a Tor Roger.
There is also a Rega P1 connected to an iFi Phono pre-amp before going to the Jotunheim.
Underneath the desk on hooks are a ZMF Atticus in Marblewood, Beyerdynamic DT 177X and a Stax SR-003 MK2.
Nearby are my main collection of headphones; Mr. Speakers Ether CX, Stax SR-L300 Limited Edition, Audeze LCD-X, Focal Elegia, ZMF Auteur in Wenge, Beyerdynamic DT 1990, Meze 99 Noir, Fostex TR-X00 Purpleheart, Sennheiser 6XX, Grado SR80e, Grado SR325e, Grado RS2e.
For portable usage I have; Moondrop Blessing 2 X Dusk, Mangrid Tea, Tin P1, old Sennheiser IEM, old Bose IEM, Dunu DN2000J, Shouer Tape, Audio Lokahi, Final Audio B3, Moondrop KXXS, Thieaudio Legacy 3, Meze Rai Solo, Shouer Tape Pro.
Grado GW100, iFi Hip DAC, Fiio E12 Mont Blanc, Pono Player, Fiio BTR5, Opus #2 and Drop Panda.
Finally my working from home setup is a Schiit Modi 2 Uber and an Akai turntable connected to a Lehmann Audio Rhinelander headphone ampilifer with a Fostex T50RP MK 2 and Hifiman 400i.
This pic is everything. God damn, does it look gooooood!
Do you find using the coax into the Hugo to be better with the n6ii than usb?
It’s sonically better and ergonomically better in one way over the cheap usb cable I had been using. The sound is quieter, cleaner, and more detailed with more natural tonal balance than the cheap USB cable. Also it’s nice not having to worry about a USB connection, as this is just a spdif cable with a USB c termination. There have been no signal dropouts from USB software issues. The biggest drawback has been this cable is a bit on the stiff side. It’s not an exaggeration to say it’s stiff like a Focal headphone cable
Sounds like its pretty nice then other than the stiffness, the cable I’ve been using with my Diablo is kinda like that and it makes it really unwieldy.
Ooof that’s a serious offense in my book. I’ve seen climbing kits softer than Focal old cords.
The biggest drawback of that cable for sure. It’s less irritating here than a headphone cable. A headphone cable’s stiffness is felt everytime you move your head. This cable I can tolerate more because it spends most of it’s time just setting on the end table next to me.
It’s like when you move your head, the entire cable moves as one piece, from headphone to amp.
I am so happy with this setup, the only thing left is mmmaaaybe a DAC upgrade or the 909’s so I can Lawton mod the 900’s.
