That’s the first time I hear there’s a definite difference between 100$+ and 500$+ DACs, and it’s “soundstage”. Interesting.

The biggest difference in most delta sigma dacs is their implementation. More so that the chipset used imo.

That’s not to say that DS chips are bad, they’re not by any means. But the implementation is what usually makes up the bulk of the difference.

Of course a the Schiit Multibit is a slightly different approach. It’s closer to an R2r than a DS, I believed.

The main benefit of going r2r or multibit is spatial recreation and a more natural sound imo (I’m surprised you haven’t heard that before on here actually)

Oh! Sorry. I see, thanks. Had no idea what “multibit” was, but I looked at Soekris R2Rs yesterday. Ironic.
(Edit: Note that the Pro-Ject Pre Box is not R2R or multibit… just expensive, and apparently, sounds expensive too. :stuck_out_tongue: )

How does the “True Multibit” module in the A3 compare to the Bifrost?

The Vali’s are my baby, but since I got the Bifrost 2, it seems to have improved the Magni. It may now be my best headphone. Hurts to say it (love the Vali) and more listening is needed, but The Magni has been improved the most so far. Both are great though.

Depends on a headphone but typically an overall improvement most of the time (to varying degrees)

It’s not as good as the b2, but schiit has improved it over the modi mulibit, it sits in-between the modi mb and the b2 in terms of performance imo

Thanx MON, think the B2 and A3 will look amazing as a stack

Yeah it’s pretty dang sweet (although you would be putting a lot into the dac vs the amp for my tastes)

I always thought the cost disparity here was interesting because they do look like they belong together

I mean I guess it depends on your headphones but personally I would put my money where the amp is first, but that’s just me lol

This added to what I hear with the sundara and a3 is pretty alluring tbh

I can confirm what @M0N said. I used to own a Modi Multibit and I really didn’t care for it much. Last week my Asgard 3 with True Multibit DAC card arrived and I was very surprised. The true multibit card Asgard 3 sounded leaps and bounds better than my old Modi Multibit + Asgard 2. Some of the improvement is the Asgard 3, but the major improvement is the true multibit DAC card, IMO. I was surprised…in a very good way.
