I had that exact stack for some time while I was waiting for the 789. The D70 is a perfect mate to the 789 imo.
I really hope so. It does a great job with the Atom.
Great photo heh
+1 on the D70 and 789 stack. They sound fantastic together.
I couldnât tell the difference between the D70 + Atom and the D70 + 789, to be honest. It has more headroom, but I was able to power all my headphones on the Atom any.
That makes sense, also. They are both transparent. You shouldnât be able distinguish one unaltered signal from another.
But thatâs the whole point of endgame! To have more DAC/amp than you will ever need, so you donât ever need anything more!!
I still want the 789 byt will just buy the Monoprice because of being burnt with the waiting time on Massdrop.
My current endgame:
xDuoo Ta-10 amp
Monolith by Monoprice Dac/amp
Beyerdynamic T5P 2nd. Gen.
URBANFUN Transound ONE HiFi Stereo Headphone with 45mm Beryllium Diaphragm
And with +10 IEMâs for portable (Hifi P1, 64Audio customs, CFA Comets etc)
And probably a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro in the near future.
What did it cost you for having the wife/girlfriend acceptance of this setup?
Thank you, I was married for 27 years, nowadays if they donât like it I show them the door. Either way, this is my office and the current gf knows to keep out and leave it alone, Iâve given her, her own space and she can do whatever she wants in her little playroom. She sometimes wonders how much more equipment i can cram into each space, I tell her, âweâll see someday.â The conversation doesnât really ever get past that.
I like that. Same arrangement I have with my wife, which for me is the only way that works for me.
I have never been into speakers, so bare with me, but why are all your speakers elevated?
This is exactly how you handle that in 2019. I donât wanna say any more to get into issues we donât want to on this forum. Itâs just good to see more men standing up for themselves.
Letâs not turn this into a marriage consulting and counseling forum lol
I have brought all tweeters to my ear level based on where my head is when I sit at this desk. Zeos has mentioned it many times over in his videos and I tried it. Each speaker is positioned to give me the best soundstage and imaging I can get out of it. The tiny little Falcons work pretty good where they are but I also have some speaker stands which I will put them on sometimes and bring back behind the desk. That particular arrangement makes them sing ever so lively and really makes for beautiful imaging and soundstage but it takes up so much room that I canât walk past them on one side so I keep them on the desk mostly.
FYSA, positioning of the speakers and room treatment are two critical points in maximizing the sound of your system. There are thousands of discussions and helpful hints all across he internet on this topic. Like almost all things sound related, most folks have their opinions and facts on what you can do and there are endless possibilities. moving and positioning your speakers based on your listening seating is FREE and can make a world of difference in some instances. Try it.
Just a picture from a while ago (would have edited that into the other post, if Discourse would let me):
If anyone needs an optical input, record from one mic (with phantom power, yes really!), a line device and hook two headphones up, this is your thing.
As a bonus, the driver/software is nice and clean (and works):
That -41dB on 3/4 is M40x at âoh, loudâ levels of volume.
Am a little scared of the headphone/line outs.
My new weird shaped pairing. 888 & Zen. I like the Burr Brown over the Sabre 9038Q2M.
SMSL SP200 THX AAA 888 | iFi Zen DAC | Elex
DT 1990 Pro
JDS Labs Atom
Tone Board
Hackstar HF580
Sennheiser GSX1000
Koss KPH30i
iFi Zen Dac to SP200 balanced with 4.4 to XLR.
Edit:
Ooh!! Thatâs the first smsl THX amp Iâve seen in the wild!
Does it sound as much like nothing (ie transparent) as that Atom?
PS- I dig the Tone Board enclosure.
