šŸ”¶ Shuoer EJ07M

Thatā€™s a damn good question but I have no idea though :see_no_evil:
Maybe Joseph @shuoer can help us find out?

If I may ask, how much did you pay for the sub-bass boost?

I only payed shipping to China (~40ā‚¬)
Letshouer did not charge anything for the tuning adjustment which is really nice and I appreciate it a lot but I also think it is justified as KL did not turn out as advertised and many were left missing that sweet bass.

Did Letshouer mess with Chrisā€™s original KL tuning?

Itā€™s a long and sordid story, but essentially, yes. They gave the midbass the bump, but the subbass was lessened making for a more even shelf, but less subbass compared with the stock EJ07m and less lowend overall compared to the pre-production unit. All of the production KL units had the ā€œgimpedā€ bass, unless you specifically order it with (or send your unit in to be retuned) to the original ā€œpre-productionā€ target.

The x HBB sample 1 (green) is the pre-production unit, x HBB sample 2 (red) is what the production unit actually had. For what itā€™s worth, I still think that the KL has great bass in quality and quantity as is, and while some people think that this was a bait-and-switch, I think it actually ended up being more of a miscommunication between Chris, the company reps and the engineers. Given that this was technically a limited run production as well (it was always intended to be), I can see why they didnā€™t pull everything and re-tool once they were out in the wild and in the middle of the run. Letshuoer has also always allowed people to send units in for reshell and/or re-tune, so those who absolutely need that extra ~3db and donā€™t want to EQ can get it changed, it just takes shipping and time (and the associated risks therein).

+1 - absolutely no complaints from me in the bass department either.

FairPlay to them but they couldā€™ve saved everyone including Chris the hassle and just released what he/they intended, whether or not folks liked what was eventually released :man_shrugging:

Better transparency on both ends as well as there is always 3 sides to any story. Especially when $800 of hard earned money is spent still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

End results and karma was in my favor but trust factor went down a few notches.

Thatā€™s a 2 way Colab for ya

Got a nice Christmas gift this year, after a 3 months shipping adventure, which could have been more if Joseph/Letshuoer had not helped.

Reshelled and retuned KL (no additional boost): a beauty to behold and some of the best bass one can have in an earphone, plus renowned EJ07M imaging and detail.

At the top of my pile, together with, and nicely complementing, the Dunu SA6 ultra (Mest mk2 and Senns IE900 have been gathering dust for a while, though also there).

Sweet mine had quite the journey as well. After bieng stolen by porch pirates I recovered them with help from local police department from a guy living up the street. I am glad LETSHUOER has changed some of thier procedures as not bieng able to track mine and be home was stressful.

Those are beautiful congratulations.

I donā€™t have the KLs, but I did have my EJ07ms reshelled in resin by Letshuoer. They came back looking gorgeous, fitting much better/more comfortably, and because of that they sound better and they get more ear time than they ever did beforehand. Congratulations on the ā€œnewā€ KLs! Happy listening!

I have to ask - Do the resin EJs actually sound better than metal? I assume this comes down to the resonance properties right? And if so - what exactly does it change? Iā€™ve always been curious.

I have never had the two side by side to compare, but based on my memory of how mine sounded before and after reshelling I would say they do, but the differences are fairly minor caused by fit and resonance differences, like you said. When I got mine back they seemed to have a touch more midbass punchiness and a bit more extension up top with more lerceived detail as a result. The mids also seemed to gain a little more body. I never got the metal shelled version to fit the way I wanted so I think a lot of the differences I have heard have to do with going from a not so great fit to one of the best and most comfortable UIEMs I have.

Audio is such an interesting thing - I wonā€™t pretend to know what Iā€™m talking about, so something like resonance is something I have a very basic, rudimentary understanding of. Thanks for the explanation, dude :handshake:

Honestly donā€™t think so or at least very little , I didnā€™t have any fit issues but the Resin seems to fit deeper so if anything the sound would be effected by that more than anything. I boost the sub bass 3db over EJ07M stock tuning and love the results as the driver is so fast itā€™s not overly boosted and very nicely done.

Interesting - I wonder if thereā€™s someone out there with both on hand to confirm or deny these thoughts. Either way - if the fit is better, then thatā€™s a win as far as Iā€™m concerned!

I got my KL sub bass boosted to 3 db too! It did me justice with the shoutiness problem that I had and makes me donā€™t want to listen because of the ā€œgimpedā€ bass. I found that the sizzle is now tamed, it became slightly warmer. I have not rotated to my other IEMs ever since it has arrived. It is that good. Mine is in metal, with the limited edition KL shell and faceplate. Thanks to Joseph and Letshuoer team for going the extra mile to make this tweak possible :kissing: superb after sales service.

Iā€™m verrrrry tempted to send my Kinda Lave in for a retune, bit Iā€™m very hesitant to do it what with the possibility of them becoming lost :grimacing:
