It could be quality control, but it could also just be preference.
Antdroid also trashed it hard: https://www.audiodiscourse.com/2020/12/shuoer-tape-pro-review.html
And no, he contacted shuoer directly with his and my graphs on it and they said it should look like that. So no QC issues on our units. (which where review unitsā¦you would kinda expect review units to have top notch QC.)
Well, the slope from 4k to 6k is crazy.
I am also pretty stoked that Zeos is gonna review theseā¦
Cause his vids where he trashes something are pure gold.
Hm, good point :\ But they STILL need to change that damn sharp shell lol.
yeah, that shell causes a lot of issues.
From the tips falling off constantly (original)
To the corners being sharp and stabbing my ears (pro)
I gave up on STP mostly due to their fit (or lack of).
I have to say I liked how they sounded (heavy EQed, I couldnāt stand them unEQed for a minute)
just fākin mod them lmfaoooo. Literally jus grind off the sharp edges with sandpaper or smthg. 'bout to do it myself if no one buys the one im putting out for sale(LOL)
It doesnt deserve the time it takes to mod itā¦
the OG Tape >>>>>>>>> Pro
I would consider it if I didnāt have other, better iems. Actually even then, I would probably just look to sell and buy better ones as thereās so much choice on the market.
From what i know the OG tapes are quite fatiguing? Thereās like a huge gain somewhere where it hurts. idk. Could also be that these TPs are dark-sounding and not appealing to majority of the people. To me, it sounds a lot like the old sennheiser px100s but with more detail.
The pro isnt much less fatiguing lol.
You need to EQ the OG Tape to remove the 3.5k peak. But even using it stock is massively better than the proā¦
The Pro is a disgrace
from what i can tell from the graph, the OG tapes look less V shape. I personally still have to bring down the 2 and 3.75(?) k peaks like 1-3 db just for me to find it not fatiguing. I shall try bringing up the 200-1k up by 1-3 db with the above anti-fatigue eq and see if the detail still retains. I personally love a neutral sound signature and hence this was, though i hate to admit, a bad buy(for me) and a $100 lesson.
Personally, i feel like this are extremely shallow fit. I wet my xelastics a little and try to let them go into my ears normally and then turn them sideways(not into my ears if you get what i mean), as in up down to the best comfort levels. Pretty sure those who are into dark sound signatures would get wet over these.
On another note, anyone tried these on tubes?
Shuoer Tape Pro Review: gāluck! - YouTube
Really clarifies my thoughts on how amp dependent the TPs are.
Both the original and the pro are fatiguing, the original more so I find. Maybe itās due to the pro having more bass so it is not as noticeable as the original.
@ZeosPantera here is a fun one to listen to with the Shuoer Tape Pro (all about the stringsā¦):
[EDIT] ITEM SOLD
Iām selling my Shouer Tape Pro if anyoneās interested. Theyāre too similar to other IEMās for me so I have no real need for them.
Everything is in the box and in great condition. Iāve only used some of the tips once to try for fit, otherwise been using Spinfitās. Everything has been cleaned after use.
Recently attached these to a new set of fiio utws3. HaD the tape pros burning in for a couple days and havenāt touched them for a few months. I remember how weird, nasally, thin, and lacking the mids were. Vocals sounded really off.
Now I have them with xelastec tips and they sound completely different in the mids. They sound like a coherent iem instead of mids that sounded disconnected from the bass. The mids donāt sound weird anymore. Anyone else kept them long enough and notice any burn in change like this or am I going crazy?
Sednafit Xelastec tips def help with the nasal issue after swapping back to cheap foam tips.
I like them a lot more than I did initially.
Edit- went from disliking the mids and vocal presentation to reaching for these when I want mids and vocals. Itās weird. I wanted to sell these so bad. I gave up on them. The mids actually sound somewhat smooth and lush now while revealing detail I havenāt heard so clearly on other iems. From what I can remember on initial impressions with the stp, the vocals and mids sounded thin and almost metallic and lacking in mid bass and presence. Just sounded really off. Now completely different opinion. Lush, somewhat smooth, and maybe even ethereal sounding but not perfect. Itās different for my little collection of iems.
So basically to those who are expecting the Pros to be an upgrade from the original one, go get the original one instead?
