šŸ”¶ Shuoer Tape Pro

LZ A7 looks pretty wild. How about Knowles VS Sonian? Both can sound just as good? Iā€™ve never heard a Sonion, donā€™t think, and TP is the 3rd electrostat Iā€™ve heard after Stax L300 & L300 LTD.

I havent heard sonions so I cant comment on them. They should be more similar to Sony BAĀ“s than Knowles and in that case they should be more similar to DDĀ“s in tonality, that is that they are more relaxing and doesnt have as much ā€œbiteā€ as knowles do.

Tape drivers are NOT electrostats, they are magnetostats by Earbridge.

Well then, there sure is a lot of incorrect and/or plain missing information with this product! Lol.

Definitely, the driver part should be considered false marketingā€¦

The HPSD E70 you linked looks so similar to Shuoer Singer.

hmm, true I havent thought of that. I just want shuoer to actually use the correct term for it because a lot of people are probably buying the tape because it has an ā€œelectrostatā€.

To anyone using their Pros, Iā€™ve found that I vastly prefer them with wide bore silicone tips (using Spiral Dots atm). Pretty nice little set IMO, but need to do some A/Bā€™ing over the next couple of days before I can put together my thoughts.

Got notified yesterday of shipping from Linsoul only for it to turn up today ^^ I was all set for a 2 week wait so thatā€™s a very pleasant surprise!

First impressions, smooth, refined, detailed with a strong bass presence. I love my P1ā€™s but that needs a boatload of bass EQ and power and can be abit metalic at times, these Tapes require none of that. Iā€™m thinking I prefer to the L3ā€™s at the moment but very early days listeningā€¦

Oh and stock cable is really nice.

Overall very happy.

Thatā€™s really nice to hear. Iā€™m looking forward to your full review.

I just did my sub-bass quantity test, and TP beats L3, I would say, with TP having a prominent lowest note weight on D1 & E1, compared to L3ā€™s relatively weak D1 only. Full results:

VK4 = B0 & C1
H40 = C1 & D1
TP = D1 & E1
FH3 = D1(stronger)
L3 = D1(weaker)

VK4 definitely pulls ahead here, while TP/FH3/L3 are much more similar.

Still tip swapping and comparing (various brands of silicone tips, also Azla elastec), certainly likes more amp power than the L3 and build is light years better than my clockworks L3 (QDC connections are currently crumbling). Sounds more intimate than the L3 but very natural, stronger bass presence overall.

Ignoring build and cable quality, L3 versus TP both are excellent but different flavours of ice cream.

TP versus P1 they are very different beasts.

P1 with EQā€™ed bass is very intimate with enhanced treble, some female vocals Sā€™s can get a bit sharp. An intense experience that can become fatiguing after a while. Foam tips dampen this character somewhat.

TP just sounds very natural, nothing overtly standing out. Can listen for hours without fatigue. If you are into enhanced treble probably look elsewhere.

Or you can go with the original for more forward treble :slight_smile:

Whatā€™s the difference between them? Not sure what QDC is. A sub-type of the common ā€œ2-pinā€ connector? Is the part crumbling on the IEM, or the part on the cable? Do you disconnect your L3 a lot, or take it on dirtbike trips a lot?

Whatā€™s the VK4?

QDC refers to the shrouded 2 pin. Looks like overtime the plastic block the wire fits over develops stress fractures which then cracks and falls away. Iā€™ve only used the IEM for desktop listening with the stock cable and treated them gently (or so I thought), itā€™s only in the last couple of weeks Iā€™ve had to switch to standard 2 pin wire because the stock cable no longer stays connected.

See below of an attempt at a picture through a magnifying glass showing the right side IEM with missing plastic from the QDC connector.

have the same problem on my Legacy 3. but I just decided to put a tiny amount of glue around the base of the plastic so now it stays on

Those reviews didnā€™t lie, the amount of detail on this thing is disgusting. I wouldnā€™t call these dead-accurate but damn are they fun, the bass is already pretty good but if you swap to bass boost it gets really boomy.

My only gripe is how shitty the 3.5mm adapter is, even the slightest nudge has the audio cutting out also the fact that if you have small ears like me, you wonā€™t be able to push them a bit deeper since those sharp edges can hurt after a while.

Anybody else tried tip rolling? Those nozzles donā€™t like theyā€™d be able to use spinfits at all.

I used Spinfit CP-100s for a bit, but Spiral Dots are where itā€™s at for both comfort and best sound IMO.
