šŸ”¶ Shuoer Tape Pro

Oh my god, so basically it really is an upgrade but still has the same price as the originals? It’s a freaking good deal.

My blon 03 are the ones that i use to compare with these as i find its tonality very pleasing, the details with the tape pro is very amazing but i cant stand the snare drum specially in the mid to upper mids. My source is lg g7 phone.

Noted. Thank you. Will try tip rolling then. Thanks!!!

Cool, I have a G7(Power), too  Maybe try a nicer DAC, if you can. Topping D10s, TempoTec Sonata HD Pro. Phone sound is definitely not recommended lol, and Androids are especially not great for audio, sadly. :\

Well I’m afraid these don’t float my boat.
On initial listening they sounded ok…not great but not bad either but with longer listening I just can’t get on with the mids or the somewhat separated lower end.

My current rotation is S8F, T2+ and L3 and these aren’t gonna break into that trio but hey, that’s part of the fun and it’s all personal opinion after all.

Would you agree with any of these characteristics?
-Dry (lifeless upper treble/cymbals)
-Nasal tonality
-Poor bass definition

Pretty much my thoughts too.
I could live with the treble and bass but it’s that nasally mids.
There almost seems to be a sense of reverb/hollowness going on in the mids. sorry I can’t think of the right way to describe it but it’s enough to put me off these …my 1st real disappointment of all the iems I’ve bought.

What do you think about FH3, if you have them?

Sorry i dont own a set of FH3’s

I have both the FH3 and Tape Pro on hand, if there’s something specific that you want to know.

How are you liking the pro’s so far? Any impressions on the mids compared to the FH3

Same here. I just wanted to see if he had the same opinions on FH3 as myself, since we have the same opinions on TP. Perhaps you also agree with those 3 characteristics…?

@SkipsMchee I’m honestly still trying to get a grasp on how I feel about the Tape Pro. I had to tip roll a lot more than I’ve had to on other sets (including the FH3) to get what I feel is the best sound out of it, settling on Spiral Dots to that end. As far as the mids, I can only swap my IEMs on the fly with the same source (and I definitely do not have ā€œGolden Earsā€) so please don’t take my word as the gospel. Going across an array of Jazz and Rock Vocals, the FH3 definitely sounds more accurate for male voices, while the Tape Pro have a more forward presentation. A brief A/B of female vocals gives me the same conclusion. As far as instrument tonality, the Tape Pro has more intensity and presence, while (again) the FH3 sounds more true to what I think the recording is trying to convey.

@CT007 I don’t know if I’d qualify the tonality as ā€œnasalā€ per se, but it’s definitely not natural (certainly not as compared to the FH3). I think that the bass definition is fine, but it’s not my favorite bass reproduction by any stretch. Cymbal reproduction isn’t great, but I think that it improved with the use of wide-bore silicon tips. Using the stock tips, ā€œDry/lifelessā€ would probably be an apt description IMO. To that end, I do prefer a slight-to-moderately bright high end, so YMMV.

If I had to choose one to keep or recommend between strictly these two sets, I think the FH3 would hands-down be the safer bet for most people. The Tape Pro is not what I would call BAD, but it’s not as good of an all-rounder as many other sets I’ve tried. In the specific price bracket, I prefer both the FH3 and Reecho x Peacock Spring 1. If anyone has any specific tracks or details they want me to try, I can certainly do a quick A/B (but mind you that I’m hand swapping and trying to volume match by ear, so it’s hardly scientific).

Ah. I liked my L3 over the Spring 1 for fit and sound, by a decent bit. Not a big difference between them, IIRC. And apparently every L3 sounds different lol… I love that electric, alive quality the FH3 has. It reminds me of Stax.

My L3 has treble, so I know that it’s not ā€˜one of those ones’ lol. Overall I think I prefer the FH3 and Spring 1 for sound and build quality, but the L3 (if you get a good one?) is still a great standard at that pricepoint IMO.

Indeed, indeed. Insane SQ(and fit) advancements in IEMs in the last couple years…!!! The headphone game is like waiting for volcanoes to erupt.

Oh nice. Will have a pair soon and I hope it’s what I’m looking for. Sounds like it might be what I’m hoping for from your impressions. Been looking for something different than my blon.

Yeah you definitely don’t want to run this off a phone. It sounds so clogged up for some reason whenever I run it without the BTR5, could this possibly because of the output power? The specs make it seem like they actually aren’t hard to push.

They are pretty thirsty when it comes to power, specs be damned. I find myself usually turning up my r3 pro further than I would expect to reach a comfortable listening level.

Now, how to solve this sharp shell edge problem. . . :face_with_monocle: :man_scientist: Maybe a few dabs of glue or putty would work, without having to bust the grinder out.
