šŸ”¶ Shuoer Tape Pro

USPS delivered my tape pros at 5:47AM this morning. I guess theyā€™re starting really early in my neighborhood now.

First impression, pretty cool accessory set, I really like the cable.

Unfortunately the sound doesnā€™t match my current music preferences. Off my BTR5, thereā€™s really nice bass quantity, and vocals are totally acceptable, but something is a little lacking in the mid instrument ranges compared to what Iā€™m used to, like the L3/L5. String plucks donā€™t sound particularly special to me. I donā€™t know how to explain, coherently but it kinda sounds like if instruments could have a sinus infection, itā€™s just not natural enough for my liking. I donā€™t see myself using this set super often which is disappointing.

I think this set bangs out on EDM and Rap, Run the Jewels actually caves my skull in the best way possible though. So far, one of my favorite tracks to play through this set is Dead, by Sakuzyo.

I donā€™t really believe that burn in will make me like this set significantly more. Itā€™s likely that Iā€™ll find more and more tracks that I like on this set, but I donā€™t think this will overtake my Thie/Moondrop preferences.

*Edit: Swapped default filter off. The default black filter has a rubber or foam dampener while the red filter has a through hole with some mesh I think. I canā€™t be super sure because I donā€™t have my glasses on. Iā€™ve started to strip the screws on these plugs because of being virtually blind. I think I prefer the red plug instead of the black one. I might be insane but I think it takes away a little bass but fixes some of the nasally mids.

Before, the TP reminded me of sitting next to the huge loudspeakers in my high school gym, but swapping the filters was more like sitting in the front row of the Yamaha tuned speakers in my high school auditorium. Fits my personal library preferences more, but still doesnā€™t dethrone my favorite set right now.

AB testing with filter swapped TP against the L5, L5 brought me to tears again. L5 sounds more natural so I guess itā€™s more immersive on some tracks (I crumbled down on Mineva by Hiroyuki Sawano). Iā€™m not here to slay the TP though. I think thereā€™s plenty of reasons to pick up the TP over something like the L3 or the Starfield. The ability to adjust/tune the most aggressive aspect of the TP is such a good tool.

Just recieved them and i must say, despite early days, they do not deliever what i was hoping for. ItĀ“s just that feeling that something is missing.
Compered to Fiio FD-1, i hold the Fiio as an absolute favorite in terms of comfort and that cosy feeling of good music quality.

Nope, not my cup of tea. Lets see if they come to life tomorrow, after some burn in, but first impression are ratherā€¦flat.

Edit.
After some 12h burn in, the sound did not differ so much and when i tried them on my phone ( Sony xperia 5ii) i realised that these IEM`s are some power hungry items, so a big no no to have them as an portable device, connected to to a mobile atleast.
They are craving some juice to spark.

Anyone interested to buy them in Sweden perhaps?

I had ordered FD1 recently, but decided to cancel it last-minute. Can you compare them to FH3?

I am sorry, i dont have those

Got my Tape Pro.

andā€¦i am facepalming so hardā€¦it sounds worse than the original tapeā€¦in stockā€¦

I am going to let this burn in and hope it will change after 20 hours or so (and I am not a believer of burn inā€¦). Because I am getting a headache from both the sound and the fit due to the sharp corners. Also pray that the tuning ā€œscrewā€ will help it as wellā€¦

If it doesnt change for the better:

Seemingly, many are not satisfied with treble being rolled off. Me too, although main havenā€™t arrived yet. But, ohh boy, foregone conclusionā€¦

yup, no changesā€¦

Guess this will be a torture weekend for meā€¦

This is a ****ing jokeā€¦

The ā€œtuningā€ screws literally dont do anythingā€¦sure the graph does show a higher bass shelf from like 50 hz down but its not noticeable and the time it takes to change the screws is long enough for you to forget a lot of the information you tried to remember from the last configā€¦

Welp, I havenā€™t messed with filters yet(Iā€™ll do that and report back soon), but hereā€™s this:

Ok, I swapped the filters, and everything sounds exactly the same to me(Spiral Dot tips).

Heā€™s also using wide sound bore tips, this mirrors what I found. Using say spinfit SP145 or SP100 I was quite disappointed.

Wide sound bore, loads of power, and swapping the screws for me they are great.

Should I go for balanced perhaps?
I donā€™t have the 2.5 to xlr adapter so I could test it on my thx 789, but if someone already test that, it would be nice to hear about it.

Balanced TP? They come that way, 2.5mm.

Thank you. I wasnā€™t considering the Tape Pro to begin with but this confirms it for me.

Wow, scam.

Arenā€™t you the guy that said the Fearless Tequila was the best sounding IEM youā€™ve ever heard? lol

2/10 ouchy

The treble begins falling off at 7K!

Iā€™m not Electro Mod, but we do seem to have very similar opinions. Sadly, Iā€™m not rich enough to have heard the Tequila :< He liked Reecho Spring 1 over L3, where I didnā€™t. Best IEM for me would be FH3 so far.

Cool. Iā€™m not listening to any of his recommendations. I used to be a subscriber until that Fearless review where I had to draw the line.

Yeah, it felt to me that he gave too high praise to the TP, and reviewed only a small portion of what there is to say about it(rather more attention to his DAP than the TP). :\ He also loved the H40, which I recently tried, and found to be heavily colored & bass-smeared.

You heard the Tequilaā€¦? How does it have such a flat mid and rear!!? 0_0

I bought both the H40 and Tequila on his recommendation. The H40 I like, but not better than the Mangird Tea. He preferred the H40 for some reason I canā€™t understand. I still have the H40 but donā€™t listen to it (youā€™re right, its bass is sloppy but is generally nicely tuned). His glowing review of the Tequila sparked my interest since he called it ā€œthe best IEM he has ever heardā€. I canā€™t take him seriously after that video and hearing it. I agree with the reviewer on Head Fi. 2 out of 10 is about a fair rating for the Tequila. Horrible IMO.

Tequila is a disaster. It is obvious the second you turn on the music like the Stereopravda and recently Shozy Black Hole.

Fearless is known for and takes pride in being radical. Shozy? I dunno what occurred and pravda was making the staff at e-earphone laugh so hard they were crying. That was a fun day actually
