šŸ”¶ Shuoer Tape Pro

My bad in explaining. I meant to plug In the 2.5 balanced connector to a adapter, so I could utilize the thx 789 balanced port.
And perhaps lift the Tape Pro to another level.
( A dream, i know)

+1. I donā€™t understand how anyone (especially someone listening to many different IEMs and even reviewing them on YouTube) could say the Tequila is the best IEM theyā€™ve ever heard.

Tape Pro, more i listen, less i like It. Just donā€™t buy It. Have so many other options in that price range. Iā€™ll try to sell mine.

FH3 is better in everything imo.

yeah, its garbage.

Except much more spacious soundstage, imaging, and less intense treble on TP. TP for gaming, FH3 for music. And to be fully fair between these 2, there is nothing particularly addictive about the TPā€™s sound, whereas FH3 = aural bliss gold :trophy:, the best IEM Iā€™ve ever heard.

well im still waiting for mine to arrive but all the negativity about them makes kind of worried :frowning:

Wait and make your own judgement. I donā€™t have any issues with mine. I am not saying it is best iem I have but definitely not garbage or something I would regret buying.

Hello folks, I also recently received my Tape Pro, Black - using with Q5s via cable on Apple Music (donā€™t laugh at my lack of lossless source), short-rounded foam tips and stock cable, I found the bass screw worked for me.

Only had about 20hrs listening thus far, initially found mids being lacking but as soon as I crank up the volume to just over half of Q5sā€™ dial, this thing becomes a monster of set, I even had to take it off doing A/Bs with my EJ07! The key realisation for me was the higher volume required to bring out the mids and defi no shouty-ness. Bass was punchy and good, no complains here. Mids are good and details are fine too, stage for me is good too I didnā€™t find it narrow?

Agree thou tonality is off for some songs but not for every song. Iā€™m really surprised the vast contrast view on it. For me, itā€™s definitely what general feedback have been incorporated as a true upgraded version to the OG, for the price I really like it. Guess just personal preference and maybe my hearing not as sharp as some?

First impressions and ramblings,
Got the Silver TP. These sound a little dark, aggressive and revealing? Are the shuoer tape pro very picky with music? These get sibilant to my ears. I like the bass but the mids sound a little hollow at times and sound a bit forward.

While listening to music,
I find some tracks such as from Sia, ā€˜Be good to meā€™ sounding very sibilant to my ears. With other songs they would sound tinny and grainy and a little nasally Like vocals from jay z - dead presidents ii. While there are songs by Sade, Zee Avi, Jack Johnson, fleet foxes, Ice cube, and johnny cash that sound right and actually pretty smooth and enjoyable which surprised me since other tracks would lead me to hitting next track.

Its strange how the mids sometimes sound nasally or grainy or sometimes very smooth depending on the track and they also stab you in the ears with detail. Or is that just me? I hear lyrics really clearly through these tape pros. I wouldnā€™t say they sound enjoyable but they sure do have something unique going on. Im not sure if i like it because I think they are getting my ears hot and sound almost clinical and hollow.

So first impressions are, these can get sibilant, can get very aggressive like the dt990ā€™s where I feel like im being stabbed in my ears so I wouldnt say I could relax with these while listening to music like I would with a pair of nighthawks or blon 03.
Seems to me these tape pros are revealing of bad recordings and the sound sig wont be for everyone.

I am keeping these because they are the most revealing pair of IEM i have heard. I gave them bad first impression, but after 30h of burning in, they continue to surprice with nuinances in songs that i have never heard before. My guess also is that these would be perfect for some FPS games, where the sounds of footsteps could be critical.
I really cant put them out for sale anymore, because i would be affraid that i miss them and what they sometimes deliver.
They sure are some special IEMs and for what they are, they still deserve a place in my collection.

Sell them and get the original tape. The original is a lot better and has a ton of micro details.

Enjoy them.

Yeah, I donā€™t find these to be incredibly detailedā€¦but certainly detailed & clear. Never heard the Tape, but I see that big treble boost theyā€™ve got o_o I just want Tape Pro v2, with the smooth shell. Hopefully Iā€™ve helped make a change for the better by buying these and giving feedback.

That treble boost at 3k is still very similar to the pro. But look at the area from 4k+ lol.

yuuu

yeah, I know. Mine looks more like what I am hearing. Still the same shouty and sharp treble from the tape but without the microdetails in it. Just worse sounding overall.

(and my measuring mic is better than his, a IEC711 clone)

Shame some folks really didnā€™t like the TP, very polarised set and some really like it, including myself. For me the FR looks good the shoutyness defi dropped between 3.5-4k

A different set of review in here I found very closed to my personal feel about the TP too: https://youtu.be/aHpCWZGmeJ0

After some brain burn in and iem burn in, I kind of like these tape pros. They are different enough from my Blons to justify keeping them for now. Still thinking of selling them for something else eventually if i find a better sounding dark iem. Love the cable on the TP.

Iā€™ve been starting to really enjoy dark sounding headphones and iems and I believe the TP are dark. My first impressions were that these were sibilant but now I feel like they are shouty at higher volumes.

The dip in the highs are the only thing I donā€™t like since I feel like im missing a little something there. But if these tapes were to get even more shouty, I donā€™t think id be able to take it at higher volumes. I like the bass response on these the most but can hear how these can sound bloated to people. The vocals and mids do sound hollow and flat however still think different tracks come out smoother than others. I donā€™t like classical music with these but rnb and hip hop is enjoyable which works for me.

All the different povs and impressions are interesting. Honestly will be fun to see Zā€™s response.

EDIT* Starting to really like the TP. I dont find them fatiguing and so they have become what i reach for late at night for long listening sessions when I want to be able to hear the vocals and enjoy some nice bass while iā€™m doing whatever needs doing. Rollercoaster ride of emotions with this set. Went from excited to try, to worried if they were bad, confused with how they sound, wanting to sell them, but now thinking they will be kept for the purpose they serve. I am enjoying how they sound and have reached out in favor of hearing this set. YMMV.

I got mine recently and Iā€™ve spent about a week with the default setting. Going to run them a week on the filter to see what I feel about them.

Spontaneous thoughts, using stock cable or a 4,4 balanced from Yinyoo with Spinfit CP360 small tips.

Odd tonality to them depending on the amp, or just in general, unsure. Topping MX3 has some slight hiss, decent enough power to drive them and sounds overall good. SP200 with SU-8, more than enough power, no hiss unless high gain, sounds good. Hiby R5 with either the stock cable or a 4,4mm balanced, sounds pretty fucking stellar to me. Bass is surprisingly well defined.

I want to give these a spin on the Harmony Design stack as that would probably elevate the soundstage and base further, but that oneā€™s away on upgrade so I probably wonā€™t have access to it for a couple of weeks.

At first I was really surprised, then slightly disappointed, then amazed after swapping filters and listening to other tracks. I need to give them a few more days and gather my thoughts. Iā€™ll post an update and some pics when I do.
