Ah I get it since I’m told I can be intimidating in the gym
But it’s all smiles once the top set is done!
Calisthenics at home is great though I see some people doing crazy amounts of muscle ups and other bar exercises at the gym and it’s always super impressive
It’s mostly burpees for that endurance and of course I have been doing those high reps. Excellence is in the basics, it may be simple, but it’s not easy when you’re doing a lot of reps. Glad the EA500 at least helps with those concerns, making my sessions much bearable, after all I did like 10 rounds of 10 one-pump burpees, 10 push ups, 10 squats and 10 sit ups 4 days ago.
I too didn’t like the thought of going to the gym because of other people.
Once you go a couple of times, you’ll feel more comfortable and confident in what you do, as well as care less about the other people. Going there and knowing exactly what exercises you wanna do that day helps a lot. Most people at the gym just care about their own thing. Focus in on the music and be the best version of yourself
Calisthenics are amazing if you want a well-balanced workout. You can do everything with gravity, if you research a bit
Less gym-speak and more IEM talk please. There are no muscles in your ears you can workout, however, you can train your ears to appreciate the nuances of various sound signatures. Try working on that!
Done more tip rolling. Sennheiser HD600 is my standard for transparent, clean, detailed, but natural midrange and total amount of highs. EA500 reminds me of HD600 midrange, but needed some adjustments.
So, ddHiFi ST35 tips get me close.
ddHiFi ST35 tips: Perfect amount of highs with warmth and body. Highs are rolled off slightly compared to stock tips, making it more balanced sound overall. with ST35 tips EA500 midrange sounding very similar to HD600. EA500 having slightly more energy in the highs, about 1-2 db more in 8 kHz area and a better bass extension. HD600 presenting upper mids a touch smoother - perceived as more note weight on the upper mids, but the differences are small, some people might not notice, it is this close with ST35 tips. Soundstage a little smaller, due to more narrow bore size of ST35, but actually similar to the open back HD600!
Technically EA500 on par with HD600 when it comes to detail retrieval, instrument separation and imaging.
I love vocals on HD600 and EA500 with red nozzles and ST35 tips gets me very close to that sound on the go.
Thank you for the detailed write up, brother I’ve never considered these tips before but I’ve always seen them around. Might give ‘em a shot as an alternative to say, Final Type E, as they look to be a similar form factor and bore size.
Also, very nice cable. Looks so similar to the KBear Limpid which is what I use on my pair of EA500s. Such a beautiful pairing
I’ve had Tanchjim Oxygen and Tripowin Olina previously, but I sold them before I got my EA500. I’m happy with the EA500 - their asking price is low enough for me to not be extremely picky about its performance. That being said, they do perform well (red nozzle, Final audio type E tips, Y1 filter mod)! Good timbre, solid imaging, nice noteweight, pretty clean and impactful bass. I wish they had a tad more subbass and better staging, but again, for like £65, really can’t complain.
Overall, I’m glad that Simgot came along with the EA500 - I don’t think I need another single DD set in my collection
Do you want to try a vent mod? I’ve added a Y1 filter over the vent just now. Not sure if that did much, but I have Y3 and denser meshes. Want me to send you some?
That’s very kind of you, but I wouldn’t know what I would be doing. I’m not very dexterous and would be worried I’d bork it up. Lack of subbass is not a deal breaker as my canon on 010 setting is for when I really want to enjoy the music. Thank you very much though @ttorbic
ST35 do sound similar to Final E tips, but have slightly larger bore, so soundstage is better with ST35. I just can’t get good seal even with the largest Final E tips, so for me ST35 is the one.
The cable is TRI Through 4 core. Got it for $18.33 on sale, it’s an excellent cable, soft, no memory effect, not thick, just perfect size and weight. I think best cable for the price.

I have done more mods to the black nozzle and it gets EA500 into best DD IEM for my ears under $300!
Take the metal grill carefully off the black nozzles. Replace mesh filter with Tanya filter, put the metal grill back. Add high density foam into the modded black nozzles to tame the highs a little.
It sounds even closer to HD600. Clean, smooth mids, better controlled highs at higher volume. Note weight improved too.

I don’t have calipers, but just put both tips next to each other, and the bore size looks near identical actually just by looking at them. I still hear better soundstage with ST35. It’s a little bigger.
I need to try that! Did you take the metal grill off and just applied Tanya filter over stock filter? I just like to have this clean stock look of the black nozzle, and impossible to loose the Tanya filter accidentally if it is applied over the grill
That’s my main gripe with the Final Es, they seem to really close the stage down and cause a distance effect with vocals so I rarely use them tbh. They’re very comfortable for me personally and I enjoy the sound when called upon, but rarely do I find my self needing that much taming to the upper mids. I think I’ll give these ST35s a shot come my next AliX haul.
Thank you for the Rec and the comparison to the finals!
Yeah, somewhat. Anything that’s single DD with a similar shell always gives me fit issues unfortunately. Olina, mele, EA500, Dark Magician - all the same story. I’ve found the most luck with larger, sticky tips like the radius deep mount clears or the Azla Crystals. Even so, I can only get a half decent fit and seal with not the best isolation. As a cheaper alternative, the TRN-T tips could be your best bet but unfortunately, even though my Ear canals are small, I’ve found that even the L size is a bit too small for single DD shells like the ones I listed above. It could be worth a shot though, the T tips are amazing little tips and like I said, they’re very inexpensive!
