šŸ”· Sivga SV021

Here’s another review:

Compares w/HD-6XX, Sivga Phoenix and Philips Fidelio X2HR.

Says sound stage and detail retrieval are above average.

Good value but there is some vocal sibilance.

100%

I went pretty rough on them, possibly broke/pierced through something on the right side of the headband (will include the photo in my review), but yes, they finally cup my ears. The headband is fully deformed, making it useless for resale, but at least I can grade them accordingly.

The fit is still not perfect (there is space behind my ear), but I physically feel that there is ā€œsuctionā€.

Of course, I will state that it is more than insane to expect a customer to bend these in unreal shapes and angles, so there it is. Is it possible? Absolutely (thank you Zeos for proving that!). Is it plausible? No.

I know that if I made a purchase (regardless of the price), I would not feel confident doing this. It’s important to keep other people like me in mind!

In fact, phoenix and SV021 are almost same size. If you like classical music, I think SV021 is more suitable for you. Because it has larger soundstage than phoenix. I don’t have Grado Sr60x, no more suggestion for you.

BTW, I like your profile picture

Amazon advises that my Zebrano (a.k.a. Zebrawood - ā€œThe black version, composed atmosphere, low-key but not simpleā€) will arrive two weeks earlier than the predicted 17 Oct 2021.

SIVGA (I presume) says it’s,

Ear Placement: On Ear
Form Factor: Over Ear

and that it’s an earphone, so I’ll be wearing it over, on and in my ears to listen to my devices ā€œvividly play the sound quality effectā€. They also say,

The black version comes with a matte paint finish

Given that the grain of the zebrawood is clearly visible but is darker than its natural colour, I suspect that rather than paint, they mean stain; that is unless the gunmetal finish of the yokes and headband which ā€œare made by scientific and exquisite crafts, which makes the noble and luxurious texture designā€ are painted.

I’m assured that after the music is over, there is no problem with dirty backgrounds.

When the music stops, the background is clean

I received the Sivga SV021 now and must say I’m really disappointed. The treble is more boosted than any Beyer or Grado I heard. The size adjustment is too big on the smallest size (and I have an averagely large head) and the pads get really warm and sweaty super quickly.
The sound signature is very W shaped and can get fatiguing quickly.
I’ll return them and try to find something else in the sub 200€ range.

Clearly it’s Oppoty and Driams ^^

Gotta love Chifi.

Now arriving another day earlier!

The deep warmth of my BL-30 gives me all the oppoty to driam. I trust the SV021 will do the same.

It continues to perplex me how the well-established and successful businesses with significant sales in the English-speaking markets (and the U.S. of A.) rarely find the US$50 or a unit for a native speaker to translate the Engrish manuals and/or marketing for their products.
I won’t mention a certain vendor which gets free assistance on their Discord with the horrendously confusing language used in their competitions and sales and infestation by feral apostrophes, as I’ve already taken us too far off topic while sharing the good news of the early arrival my Zebrano.

Yeah, mine were supposed to arrive next Thursday, now they’re showing up tomorrow…

They’re here…

Very masculine looking!

The cup is actually more a Mahogany than black painted wood? That’s actually better IMO,

Yeah, all of the pics I’ve seen give the impression that the cups were black. I was so pleasantly surprised when I pulled them out of the box.

Yup. They are not black.

I’d say dark walnut.

I also like the fact that they are not black =D

Looking good. I was going to ask the obvious, but…

That is certainly a nice wood finish, but is way more than a small variation from the published images, to an extent which makes me wonder why they didn’t offer three or four combo finishes for the product.

Initial impression on sound?

Mine left Aberdeen, MD, this afternoon and should arrive tomorrow.

I have my first impressions posted in this thread. Am currently working on the full review.

In terms of the images, oh well, SIVGA is known to have bad pictures and great products. From my experience, the official images always looked significantly different (for the worse) than the product in real life.

I think it would’ve been neat to have black leather and the rosewood ear-cups.

My first impressions on sound (Chain is Spotify>D90 OG>A90):

These are easily the bassiest headphones I’ve purchased so far, though my other sets are only KPH30i’s, Fidelio X2HRs, Elegias, and Sundaras.

I gave into my temptation to A/B them a little with the Elegias, since they’re the only closed backs I own. Besides the obvious difference in bass, listening to orchestral pieces the Elegias still stand out with regard to detail. Soundstage seems to be similar so far but I haven’t really focused on that as of yet. They’re also as easy to drive as the Elegias.

Listening to rock and metal is a different experience entirely. I’m really enjoying what I get from the Robins when listening to everything from Ace of Spades to Zzyzx Rd…

Some other impressions so far:
I have a large head, and I’m not experiencing any fit issues with them, the pads are extremely comfortable, but I could use just a little more padding on the headband, nothing a sleeve won’t fix.
Save for the KPH301i they’re also the smallest headset I have, by a mile, and they’re EXTREMELY light.

Damn, I’m still now sure if I should return these. I got used to the treble but they are a bit large for everyday carry.
The only alternative that improves on that would be the QC35ii but I’m not sure if they are comparable in sound quality.

Grabbed a quick photo of my freshly delivered unit before subjecting it to the cruelty of FM radio for burn-in.
Those pads are very soft and the clamp is so even.

Only that photo in the album so far.

I’ve received the sivga yesterday. Although i like warmer sound, i wasn’t a fan of the phoenix, which had some shouty peaks in the mids and treble and compined for my taste.

I was able to listen to the sivga for 1 h yesterday, so these are my quick and initial impressions:

  • comfort is really good
  • the padding of the headband and the pads and also the very soft foam of the pads doesn’t convice me. I think that these parts won’t be really durable. The rest of the built is nice.
  • good bass quantity and punch. My k371 has more bass punch, but more in the kickbass area, the sivga has more subbass
  • subbass extends low, but distorts at the lowest frequencies
  • soundstage is wide and has good seperation, quite impressive for a non open back, but my Denon 2000 is still outperforming the sivga
  • treble is quite bright and has sometimes a hint of sibilance. Could be quite fatiguing with bad recordings

I like this headphone more than the phoenix, but i don’t think, i’ll keep it. The biggest cons:

  • i miss some energy in the mids. The k371 has a quite good and meaty or fullsounding midrange. The sivga is a little bit recessed and lacks detail and presence. While gaming i couldn’t hear as much details as with the akg, which has a much narrower soundstage.
-The sivga isn’t really a closed back, it has vents. So it is semi-closed. I wouldn’t use them in a train or bus. Since i have an semi closed headphone with the denon already, i don’t need another one. I was looking for a fully clised back. If you want a closed back with warm sound i would choose the meze 99 classics, the akg371, sony mdr-1a (mk1 or 2) or the b&o h6 instead.

I’ll give them some time to burn in and will hear them for the next days.

Hello all, new to the hobby so apologies for the basic question but I am not familiar with the specific connectors used to plug into the headphone itself. Can you run a balanced cable with this headset?

Thank you.
