Can share some more photos and thoughts later, but so far I find it very good. Going from memory it seems more bright and open sounding than the Audeze LCD2C and LCD 3 I had.

Yeah, I had to do the double take with mine as well vs my Arya Stealth. They perform very well for the money.

It is also kind of funny as the LCD 3 was one of the headphones I was shopping out vs my Arya at the time. I can’t wait hear your thoughts regarding the Moonlight once you have had a chance to spend more time with it. Happy listening!

Just an update. I did finally try Moonlight on the Topping L70, and I would stay away from that amp when powering Moonlight. It lost a lot of detail, separation, and it sounded worse overall. That is interesting as Starry Night V1 faired better on that amp.

I am curious whether or not this amplifier would drive Moonlight as well as the Soloist 3XP since the specs seem similar and they are both class A.
Aune S17 Pro Headphone Amp, Pre-amp, Class-A Fully-Discrete Fully Balanced Headphone Amplifier, 6.35mm/XLR/4.4mm Headphone Jack, Twin JFET, XLR/RCA Preamp Out, for DAC/Speaker/Home Audio (Black) https://a.co/d/9eyGiPw
If the performance and sound signature is there it might make a good pairing with a Bifrost 2/64. It would also come in below or at the cost of my Soloist 3XP + supercharger. If you can find a Bifrost 2 used for a good price, then all the better.

I am Looking into a new amp/dac to replace my topping A30 Pro.
Any thoughts on Fiio K9 or Aune S9c or Topping TA-22? And how it might pair with the moonlight.

You don’t want to reuse your existing DAC to get a better Amp?

Well, my current DAC - SMSL SU-1 is nothing special either. So i would prefer going for an AIO solution.

Off hand the xduoo TA-22 is supposed to pair well with moonlight from what I have read. Z said that if you already have a DAC that it would be better to go for the TA-20 plus though. The Aune s17pro is another good amp depending on how much give you have with your budget. If space is at a premium I understand going All in one, but if you have the room I normally recommend using separates.

aune S9c Pro DAC with Headphone Amp, 10MHz Clock Input, 32bit/768kHz/DSD512/MQA, Dual-DAC Chip, 6.35/XLR/4.4 Jack, PLL/Clock Sync Tech/Twin JFET, for PC/Speaker/Home Audio (Black) https://a.co/d/72uWnWq

I guess the TA-22 or the Aune s9c pro depending on how much you want to spend as well as whether or not you want some tube flavor.

I haven’t heard much about the Aune just yet when it comes to pairing it with moonlight though, so take that into consideration.

For some tube flavor, i also have a little dot m2 here.
But yes, i think Aune s9c is not a bad idea to go with.

It has plenty of power, and Moonlight does do well with extra headroom.

It looks very nice, as does the S17 amp.

The s17 offers a lot of class A power for the money, but it would most likely be bottlenecked by his current DAC. I am of the mindset of upgrading my amp, and then getting a better DAC down the line, but everyone has their own priorities.

I have an SMSL SU-8 in my office and it works just great. Not sure about the SU-1 though as I never heard of it.
To me it is headphone, then amp and then DAC.

He already has the headphone so I left that one out
