If you were actually listening at 11 o’clock with an average headphone in high gain like you said you would be most likely be dead by now…
I have spoken…

Well idk about be dead, but you would be deaf lol
Does it pair well with an analog eq such as the schiit Loki?
Should work just fine, don’t think there would be any issues whatsoever
I would think it is a match made in heaven. I bought a THX amp knowing it would be flat, neutral and transparent. That can be annoying or boring. However my Loki can change that at any time. I haven’t combined them yet, but I think it will be great once I narrow down my system set-up. My Loki is currently glued to my Koss ESP/E95X system.
Giving the 95x some nice low end?
Low end, high end and Body. It is an addictive package. I can listen to it for days.
Since I am back in this thread, I don’t think I have mentioned here but, the Fostex TH-610’s are Amazing with this amp! If you heard this combo, you would say “Man, that is one bassy amp”, but it really isn’t. What a great combo. I liked this amp with the HD58X, but love it with the 610’s. It just amplifies. I know that’s what it’s supposed to do, but wow.
yeah ebonies sound great on it to
Look Mon! a triple rainbow!
Joshua Valor just released a review of the Monoprice 887 THX amp, says its the new champ:
Unfortunate, perhaps he will figure out eventually
It’s because of the garbage volume pot they decided to go for. To my understanding it is a linaer volume pot and not logarithmic, which they should have used instead because of how powerful the amp is, even in low gain. The volume pot has no resistance and there is quite alot of play.
There’s no dedicated section for this so I’m just gonna ask it here - anybody from the EU wanna sell me their SP200? Or ideally, their SU-8 + SP200 stack?
Hi there,
A few months ago when the Sp 200 came out around November 2019, I ordered it via Amazon.
The good part is infected with pure joy and heard purely.
The first thing I heard was sobering, so I run it 24 hours and was the same.
He had been okay in some areas.
But what I did not like at all was that it sounded so stiff and static. Cold at that and it didn’t pick me up at all emotionally. The stage is also strange, I am right in the middle and not close enough to the musicians. A lot came I also pretend that the device is surgically disassembling everything. It wasn’t mine. I can only guess who is on the warmer side or neutral for that is nothing. An enrichment for analysts. Furthermore, I felt that it was quite good is for watching films, but not for listening to music.
Technically I was also bothered by the volume potentiometer, for example, position 9 o’clock, it could be a little louder, and you turn and turn, nothing happens to bleed. You clearly screwed it up and had to solve it better. The high / low gain position also failed extremely. In high gain I move much more towards the musicians but too loud and inauthentic problem with the volume potentiometer.
In the end, I was more disappointed with the device than I thought, I cannot recommend it, for the money it costs and the performance you get, you get something better.
My setup was a Cambridge Audio Dac Magic, Fostex Tr x00 and Ah D7200, when I reconnected the Schiit Vali 2 it was a dream in comparison.
greeting
Welcome to THX. Flat neutral and colorless. That is what they were shooting for. Present the music as it was recorded. Supposedly audiophiles love it.
I knew I wouldn’t love it, but I wanted to try it out. It is certainly my “coldest” amp. I definitely wouldn’t have it as my only amp, but it does bring something different to the table. I don’t mind the volume knob at all.
A thx ain’t delivering that
I thought that was the whole story behind THX? Just the facts and nothing but the facts. Everything reduced to 1’s and 0’s.
It’s moreso “Just the numbers and nothing but the numbers. Everything reduced to specs and measurements.”
I don’t think I could really recommend a thx amp for any studio work, and it’s hard to recommend them for listening as well personally. You really realize the many flaws of thx after actually listening to an amp designed for good sound quality over numbers. For examples, head on over to the rnhp thread since that’s a good example of why you should skip thx altogether lol
The RNHP is also another 200€ more expensive.
