oh man I’m so tempted to snap on this deal, but I really don’t need it… Got a monolith THX 788 already and I’m sure the sound difference between the two is inaudible plus I would need to buy a new dac as well. naw I’m good.
although I could sell the 788 and probably cover the price for both the amp and dac… hmmm. or I could just keep both because why not?
This hobby is sometimes way too much for my sanity. and my wallet
dude are you kidding? i would kill to have what you got. The 788 has Dirac and EQ adjustments, Dac filter speed settings and Dynamic range control. The 788 and way better than the 888
Good news everybody! I contacted SMSL and asked if they will have a DAC to stack with the 888. Well i just got back a reply tonight and they say they will be releasing the M400 soon. Its the same size as the 888 and it will stack perfectly with it!
i would love to have it for my headphones, i always have to EQ the treble down. but certain apps for windows wont let you use a software EQ. andi would love to mess around with those other settings lol
I hope that M400’s price is right. I’m finding issues with my current DAC so I’m waiting/looking. I wanted to find out more on the M400 and found the hifi-express blog that also has the SP500 - which I admit looks nice.
I bet the M200 will be cheaper and the M400 will have the bluetooth and who knows what else.
THX tech is known to be clean and neutral, which is what i want. I know my Modi DAC is colored and one thing i noticed is the treble seems high on it. When i got my Grace DAC which is also known to be transparent, i didnt have to adjust my EQ as much. So unless this new DAC is really great i think i’ll stick with my Grace SDAC
I’ll likely be selling my 788 dac/amp once I get the smsl. Message me with an offer if you are interested. Willing to give a solid deal to someone on this forum. My SMSL should be arriving Wednesday.
Well i dont know about you, but i got OCD. So i’ll have rebuy everything. I’ll have to get a slanted laptop, slanted headphones. Slanted IEM’s. Slanted EQ. Slanted tube amp. whew. I better get on it right now.
