Ayyyyyyyy look at that lol, that is correct that it’s just a dac, it is a better dac than in the fiio k3, so quality will improve further.

Yeah I have a holiday home where it wouldn’t be practical to be carting around the JDS + DAC to power them - but the K3 would have it’s place there with the 80’s. That by itself still isn’t a terrible sound. Or, in a pinch my Sony’s are decent enough for that use too.

Gotcha, just wondering though, how much can you get a fiio q1 mk2 for (it should be the same price)? That’s a portable dac amp that sounds almost the same to the k3 if you wanted something smaller and more portable. The fiio btr5 is also pretty awesome but it doesn’t have a dac out
And be careful with the topping, as there is a fake topping floating around under the name of Aimpire AD10 or something like that

Well the K3 isn’t all that big - it replaces an E10K that I used before in the same setting - so that’ll work nicely.

Not a bad idea 
I’m just saying with the q1 mk2 it can go battery powered and can fit in your pocket and connect to your phone to act as a dac amp, so if you wanted to do that you could as well. It can line out as a dac too. Just if you were inters ted in something more portable

There are some really dumb yet awesome portable setups that can ask as a desktop and portable solution lol. Lot’s of stuff out there. And iems can be fun too
Oh IEM’s are nice. I have SoundMagic E10C’s I bought years ago for a daft price, and they are pretty good!
There’s also the BTR5.

Yeah if you run massive power into IEMs they usually sound amazing.
Just be careful on the volume lol. It depends on the iem how well they handle the extra power, but you are putting it on a higher quality amp
