So, what next? Looking for new headphone DAC/AMP advice

So more an incremental step from the K3 - but an improvement yet again for sure. Would have been a massive difference from the E10K I was using only up until a few weeks ago. D10 does exactly what I need though - USB -> Optical + RCA out to the Atom - it’s perfect.

K3 and one pair of DT770’s now tucked away ready for holiday duties.

EDIT: The knob for the Atom is worth it for £6 too. (Though you buy two, not sure what I will do with a second one…)

I suppose from here I can now step up in headphone terms with this DAC+AMP?

Correct, this is a very competent stack that will allow you to consider most headphones lol

Although for now I would cool down lol

Oh yeah, this will do for a long while!

I’m still amazed really that £200 got me this DAC + AMP - and now I’ve got the flexibility to go wherever headphone wise.

Yeah the d10 + atom is such a solid combo, really worthwhile imo. I think depending on the headphones, you could go up to the 600-700 ish range for headphones and still be fine with your dac amp combo :+1:

Nice! Also, thank you for all your advice! (And to everyone else who contributed)

Now you can start considering things like maybe the DT 880 600 ohm for that open back goodness, maybe a planar, or join the nighthawk cult being cultivated. Or maybe think different with a DT 990

A world of possibilities now

Assuming he can go open lol

Nothing against going open-backed - can use them at home I suppose. Closed back would be best for work so I don’t poison anyone elses soundwaves

Hmmmmmm lots of choices lol

All the Beyerdynamics are such great prices… all like £100-150 a pair at least for the 770 880 990’s.

Yeah, solid performance for a solid price. You gotta try the dt880 600 ohm some time, pretty sweet

OK - will put those next on the list

They really are well priced. Everywhere great options for the people that don’t have access to massdrop

Well, if you wanted a more impressive experience for home, the dt1990 pro might be something to think on lol

Yes I was just eyeing those. They look stunning.

You game? Because those are really good for that as well

So are the 1770’s any good… closed and that…
