Mate I couldnât get any of the two types of supplied Sony tips to fit, theyâre both too shallow?..looked side by side with the Spinâs and the Spinâs are a tad longer but the same sort of width thoughâŠIf I had bought the Z1âs and only had the OE tips Iâd not be happyâŠHow ever Spinâs and Spiralâs work and fit greatâŠdidnât really like the finals on them though.
This is exactly what I needed to know. It continues to back up my assessment that Spinfit tips are the best silicone tips available. I donât know what I would do without them. I certainly wouldnât have the IEM collection I do since they enhance the sound of the IEM, they easily fit & seal better than any tips Iâve tried (some wonât seal at all), come in a great assortment of sizes and are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. If I hadnât found Spinfit tips, I probably would have given up on IEMs all together by now.
Spinfit tips were my gateway drug into IEM addiction. I need to go into rehab.
This advertisement was NOT paid for by Spinfit tips. Believe it or not.
The OE cables are surprising comfortable and fit wellâŠin pictures they look like bent coat hangers lolâŠthey can be slightly microphonic but itâs no biggyâŠin fact this IEM and all the accessories look like theyâd survive a nuclear blast tbh
After living with the Z1Râs for a couple of weeks I have to concur with Chris when he saysâŠLegit end of road set, save up, buy it, enjoy the music.
Itâs now really hard to reach for another set tbhâŠsaying that I do still use my Androâs for vocal centric and acoustic stuff and the Vegaâs for EDM, DânB etc when iâm in the moodâŠbut dang I could happily live with just the Sonyâs, Iâm so happy I had the courage of my convictions to grab this set⊠not cheap I know but they sound better than 10 x $200 sets which took me a while to learn lol.
If anything else changes then a new source might be on the cards when my wallet recoversâŠThank you Sony and @hawaiibadboy
The one I had was this style of box. Not sure about the cable though.
Oh noâŠmy bad, i keep my Z1R in the EX1000 case and EX1000 in a big pelican case cuz itâs mini XLR term and i keep 3.5/2.5/4.4 all with it
Just checked and the 4.4mm ended cable and that has the same on the splitter so Iâm guessing Sony now source their cables from China for this set and my have all along?
I am planning to purchase the Sony Z1R in the future, for now iâm looking at buying a DAP.
Which DAP would be good match for these IEMâs?
My choice would be the Cayin N6ii with itâs option to swop motherboards offering you different types of playback and outputs âŠ
Agree with @Ohmboy. They pair well with the N6ii. Also the WM1A or the WM1Z! Both of them are goodies!
Thanks for both of your suggestions @Kad998 and @Ohmboy
Will the 1000$ players will scale well? I am looking to save anywhere i can. Will the hiby r6 pro/ fiio m11 pro be a definite step down? If the itemâs pair really better with the 1000$ players i will save up for them.
Edit: adding the ibasso dx160. All these players are well reviewed in their price bracket. I doubtful about how much the price jump brings to the table.
I would also look for a lotoo paw 6000 if you arenât interested in the modularity of the cayin, very sweet player. And of course the wm1a is a very solid pairing with the z1r
Personally I really wouldnât skimp on the source gear, while the z1r arenât the pickiest, they do scale fairly well and you can get a fair bit more out of them compared to something like a dx160 2020 or m11 imo
Lotoo looks awesome af. But I need streaming apps to work. I listen to a fair bit of songs from my home district which is in a corner I india, so YT music is a must.
So the cayin in the better option? Is the Sony ZX500 good?
Now that weâve established around 1000$ for the dap. Do you have any other end game suggestions? Power is not much of an issue and Iâm primarily an IEM user.
If you need youtube music, then the cayin is a good pick here since the sony wm1a will not support that either unfortunately. Unfortunately I havenât tried the ZX500 yet, so I canât comment on that. Also with the cayin, regarding the modules, I would recommend the e02 module for the most impressive match with the z1r imo. I also like the t01 module for a bit more forward and fun sound. The a01 module was not that impressive to me personally
There are other things I would mention but they might end up being more expensive (and I would have to omit some other options since you want to make sure you get one which can support youtube music). The hiby r8 is impressive although somewhat expensive for what it is, but it would suit your needs well, although while I have tried this dap briefly it was not with z1r so I can only estimate the quality of the pairing. Other options I like in this range tend to not have android or not work with youtube music, so personally the cayin n6ii is my favorite pick in this situation
I donât personally own the Sony, but have multiple similarly-tiered IEMs. I agree that your source will play a very large role in your chain.
I personally own the N6ii with both E01 and E02 boards if you have any specific questions.
I have demoâed others and invested in an even higher-tiered DAP and they continue to scale. Rest assured that your money will be not be wasted in better electronics.
Thank you dude, ill take you up on it.
Is there a clear sonic difference between e01 & e02?
Because with just the e01 module, I can get a better deal. But it has lower output than e02, but its class a/ab. As you can see I canât get my head around any difference there could be.
Also, tell me what itemâs youâre using them with. For me it was toss up between u12t and z1r, I chose the z1r because it came with the balanced cables in box whereas 64 audio balanced cables are 125$ smh (and z1r is a bit cheaper).
So if Iâm going for e01, I wouldnât mind the u12t. I wouldnât need to purchase balanced cables in this case.
