I spent some time today with the dekoni X00 lambskin pads now that I’ve done the driver side Lawton mod. The slight sibilance they cause seems to be lesser. Other than that there are no other changes to how the dekoni pads (with rings) sound. The added separeation of the Lawton mod is untouched. I’m gonna try the Ori lambskin pads tomorrow.

Here’s some very underwhelming but good news about the Ori pads with the Lawton driver side tune up. It’s basically the same deal as with the dekoni pads, the slight sibilance is reduced with no other changes. I’ve edited my pad swapping essay of a post to mention the Lawton mod.

I’m going to do some more testing but I may stick with the Ori pads unless I notice any big changes in the sound I don’t like. The comfort with these pads is almost the best, only narrowly beaten by the HD58X with dekoni suede pads for it’s better clamp and cooler temps (a TP mod on the back of the driver fixes the sound changes from the dekoni pads on the HD58X BTW).

Well I’m back to using the accessory house global pads. They are not the best for comfort but are still good, even for long sessions. The sound just has that magic that pretty much only stock pads have, but they are more comfortable than stock. I’m using the dekoni X00 pads on my DT770 since they smooth the highs just enough to transform that headphone from a monitoring can to an enjoyment can. I guess I’ll just keep the Ori pads for some future headphones that may need pad swapping.

I need a replacement cable for these… I usually can live with just about anything… pads, cables, etc but this one I just cant… any suggestions?

Yeah, it was one of my first cable upgrades I felt was mandatory. I got the balanced Periapt cable, and it’s fine but has some microphonics

that sucks… do you think that’s a qc thing or a balanced thing? everyone seems to recommend these cables?

It’s mainly the design of the headphones that causes this in this case, the cable in is just positioned where it will be more susceptible to noise and it’s not really isolated from the rest of the headphone

I notice with these when it rubs against my clothing or anything its pretty distracting… is that what we are talking about here?

That is correct

I also seem to notice it on this headphone more than others that also have the fabric-sheathed cables

Make the cabel self.
Buy the connectors on Alliexpress,Furutech connector and the Viablue cabel is really easy to made it self.
The cost are the same.I habe made one for my Denon, when have Time i make it for the Tr-x00☺️

I’ve noticed this on the k371 as well

was this improved over the stock cable? or still comparable?
