I think it was about the same. In any case, the stock cable was too long and I would have replaced it either way
I found the rubbing noise to be noticably WORSE with a periapt cable. Maybe it was just my cable but the wire after the split is surprisingly stiff and the Paracord rather rough. It sounded like a literal saw. Iām considering getting a Hart audio cable as they look softer than my periapt and maybe even asking if he can just not put any Paracord on the wires after the split.
Edit: I forgot to mention I donāt know if Hart audio dose Fostex connectors and if he does, how much it would cost.
It doesnt appear they doā¦ I think Iām sticking with OEM for now unfortunatelyā¦ the periapt cable is pretty pricey and doesnt address my main gripe
He might do it with a custom order (which I would need if I want something like no paracord after the split) but like I said I have yet to ask. To be honest I actually quite like the stock cable, itās just nearly 12 FEET LONG!!! I find that a tad much.
Iāve heard excellent feedback regarding this cable maker.
Unfortunately they show āOut of Stockā for the TH/TR series.
Iāve sent them an email inquiring for an ETA. When I hear back Iāll post an update.

Hart audio will do it for $74 (connectors are pricey for him)
I just need to decide whether or not Iām keeping these though
That looks GREAT! Can you compare it to the stock cable (particularly the flexibility after the split and microphonics)?
Edit: Just to clarify, by microphonics I mean the noise caused by the paracord scrapping against itself or cloths.
Itās good to see youāve ended up where I did as well. They are the best pads Iāve found for the TR-X00.
For cables, I have tried a bunch. I have a Periapt cable, a NewFantasia cable and I have two 16 core hybrid cables that I had made. Hereās a picture of one of themā¦ (two cables on the left)
Iām using these pads. Not the ones you specifically linked. But I found these because of your link so thanks. They are just stock pads but leather and memory foam.
Gotchya! Those probably are the closest to stock pads that you can get.
I wish I could afford to get skedra to make me a fancy silver cable for my purple hearts but alas, I cannot.
I was avoiding doing the cups at lawson cause their so expensive. But it sounds like they make a big difference to the sound dammit lol.
Also i dislike how much treble there is in the Ebony. its a little bit too much. will the tuneup fix that or do i have to request it?
The wood you choose will affect that, but the tuneup kit will refine the treble, but not really decrease it that much
When I had my Th-x00 Mahogany, I did the Lawton driver damping mod, but not the cup damping. ZMF Ori pads and driver damping mod are the preferred way to go, at least in my opinion.
Changing pads can also help with treble too
Let me know if you decide to sell them! I just ordered Hart cables for some of my other cans, but I didnāt get one for my Fostex yet. I love the Fostex, but that stock cable is a beast!
iām worried about changing the pads, i heard it changes the sound signature a lot
That is correct
lol iām a pain i the butt arent i? its the OCD. i get stuck on certain things and i worry
If you change the pads on the TR-X00, you have to use the attenuation rings or the bass falls apart. I put some XL Brainwavez on mine without the rings just to see what it was like and the sound that I love was gone and replaced with poop.
