Absolutely!
Got my Lawton tune-up today. I only installed the driver side as I didnāt notice anything particularly special with my bluetack dry fit of the cup foam and I like the romanticized idea of nothing but wood behind the driver.
So far the changes have been subtle but positive (I havenāt listened much yet). Iām still using the accessory house global pads but will try the ZMF Ori lambskin and dekoni X00 lambskin at some point. So far I think the whole ābetter instrument separationā is an accurate description of the improvement. Iāll post more tomorrow after Iāve had more time to listen.
Looking forward to it!
I actually ordered my Ori pads, and theyāve just shipped!
Just waiting on my ācupsā from Lawton to ship, and the actual headphones ().
Sounds like you baught the cart before the horse.
I did indeed.
Itās come down to either the TH610, or the TH900mk2. Iām probably going to go with the 610ās, and if I enjoy it enough, I can later build a TH900mk2.
My build was contingent on getting the ācupsā I wanted.
You can follow my build here:
I picked up the TH-610ās recently. Out of the box I listened for 11 straight days! I will be interested on how you go. I have also been talking with Mark about some changes. The tune-up is a must, not sure about the pads and the cups are expensive.
The Lawton mod is kind of pricey, but I have yet to hear of anyone whoās done it that didnāt like the changes.
Sometimes he has chambers on sale. Thatās always an option.
I think his cups make the most difference imo
He has been having a sale lately. Following Mon, I asked about the Purplehearts and he said they were just being created.
Thatās a pretty cup, and at a nice price.
Mahoganyās are out of stock so I guess thatās itā¦
Yup. If you want to mod itās now the Fostex TH610, or TH900mk2 (1.5 Tesla driver).
I donāt know how readily available E-MU are, but the Teak is another option.
The teaks are available directly from creative still
Sweet. Tyll favored those most of all the Foster driver headphones.
I donāt believe he ever reviewed a Lawton modded Foster, however.
I saw that tooā¦ theyāre more at the 610 price point if I remember correctly so a tad more than the x00sā¦ I bought an open box x00 ph recently so Iām anxiously awaiting those
Iām wondering how you will feel about them
Are the 610ās made in Japan?
I know the 900/909 are.
Bring da bass
They do! I overheard a co-worker today who has had time with all my headphones tell another employee he doesnāt think I could buy a better sounding headphone than the TR-X00s Iāve let him listen to. Heās also hunting for a TR-X00 on the used market for himself.
