TH-X00/TR-X00/E-MU Teak/Denon biodynamic general discussion

I’m waiting on my Lawton cups to ship. I have ZMF Ori Lambskin pads that I’ll try without any ‘rings’. If I’m not happy with the sound, I’ll try different pads. Probably the Auteur Suede next.

He puts up sales once in a while. You can also email him asking if he has any deals on chambers (cups).

Mark’s a good guy. Very easy to deal with.

I haven’t received my TH-X00 (sometime this week I hope), but I won’t likely like the small earholes in the original pads.

Nice! Those are my personal favorite aftermarket pads for the TR-X00. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. VS the Lawton Angle Pads, I find the fit is better around the ear for me and the soundstage increases slightly. They won’t be a great departure from the Lawton pads.

That was my main issue with the TR-X00, but I fell in love with their sound. Going with the earpads we have discussed in this thread will change the TR-X00 from an on-ear headphone to a completely over-ear headphone. The problem that occurs when you change the pads is that the driver changes position and makes the high frequencies more direct. The Lawton mods help correct this issue and turn the TR-X00 into a more complete closed, over-ear headphone.

I will be getting the dampening kit for sure.

I would recommend attenuation rings. They keep the bass the same as stock.

Yup. Still the cheapest option.

I ordered a pair of these…

…for my unmodded TR-X00 Ebony. They are arriving tonight. I’ll be happy to report my findings once I’ve tried them out.

Hope you like them. I feel that for $30 why not try. If not for the nearly stock sound and DRASTIC increase in comfort of the Ori pads, I would have stuck with those.

I’m curious what you think too. Let us know how you think the sound changes. If the sound isn’t where it should be I’d use the attenuation ring with them.

So far I’ve seen people buying three different earpads from accessory house for the x100. Interested to know how these compare.

Those specific pads come with an attenuation ring built-in like the stock pads.

Exactly. I’m checking them out primarily because of your comments about them. I’m expecting these pads to be very similar to stock, but who knows, I might like them more. I can always go backwards.

Absolutely! Knowing me I’ll probably have a lot to say good or bad.
